Non-league
CHELTENHAM 5, MAST COMMUNITY CHARTER 4
The visiting Panthers opened up a 4-0 lead and then fought off a late MaST Charter comeback attempt to earn the non-league win. They managed just six hits but made the most of them.
Cheltenham took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Finn Ivory grounded a one-out single to center, and Finn Kopp followed and drew a walk. With two outs, Joel Martin stepped to the plate and delivered one of the game’s biggest hits – a two-run double to left.
In the top of the third, Sam Batincilia drew a leadoff walk, and he scored when James ‘Jimbo’ Smith was safe on an error, Xavi Chanoine followed with a ground single to right, and Ivory’s two-out single plated the second run of the inning, giving the Panthers a 4-0 advantage.
MaST Charter got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning, but Cheltenham upped its lead to 5-1 with a run in the top of the fourth. Sean Trainer lined a single to left to open the inning and immediately stole second. He scored when Martin grounded a single to left.
MaST Charter didn’t go down quietly, scoring a single run in the fifth and pulling to within one with two runs in the sixth. It could have been worse as MaST had runners on second and third with none out, but they never got any further. Brian ‘BT’ Trainor – who earned the win – retired the next three batters he faced on an infield popup, a strikeout and then throwing out a runner attempting to steal home.
Sean Trainor threw a scoreless seventh to earn the save, allowing a one-out single and then retiring the next two batters.
Martin led the Panthers with a productive day at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Ivory was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
Cheltenham (2-3, 1-3 SOL) will host Springfield Township on Monday.

HAVERFORD SCHOOL 13, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 11
The Patriots hung tough, rallying from four down to knot the score 11-11 late only to see the Fords escape with the non-league win.
Things started out on a promising enough note for the Patriots when Reece Moody drew a one-out walk, and Chase Harlan followed and smashed a two-run home run to left field. The Fords evened the score with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the second, Moody hit a two-out single, and Harlan was given an intentional walk. Moody advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a wild pitch to put the Patriots on top 3-2.
The Fords used a six-run outburst in the bottom of the inning to go on top 8-3 only to see the Patriots pull to within one with a four-run third. Three walks loaded the bases with the first run of the inning scoring on a miscue by the Fords’ pitcher, the second came home on a balk, and then it was Ryan Zosulis hitting a two-run home run that brought the Patriots right back in the game.
Again, Haverford answered, this time with three runs to go on top 11-7. The Patriots refused to go away and posted four runs in the top of the fifth. Zosulis opened the inning with a single, and Matthew Rowland delivered a two-run home run to center field – it was the third round tripper of the game for the Patriots. Back-to-back errors put a pair of runners on board, and both scored on sacrifice fly balls from Harlan and Jack Mislan, knotting the score 11-11.
The Fords scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, and this time the Patriots had no answer as the Fords held on to win 13-11.
Harlan’s 2-for-3 effort with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored led the Patriots. Zosulis was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored.
Tim Mahony threw an inning-and-two-thirds of scoreless relief to close out the game, striking out one.
Central Bucks East (2-5, 2-2 SOL) will host North Penn on Monday.
