Upper Dublin 8, Cheltenham 6 (8 innings)
Brian McPeak’s two-run double to left field in the eighth inning capped a wild game and gave Upper Dublin the 8-6 victory in eight innings on Tuesday.
“We overcame lot of adversity for the win against a very good Cheltenham team,” said UD coach Ed Wall.
Trailing 4-3, the Flying Cardinals scored three times in the top of the sixth to seemingly take command of the game. Carter Pestrack started the inning with a double to right field, and later scored on a sac fly by Elijah Peck. Kyle Rizzo scored on a groundout by Nick Lombardo, and a RBI single by pinch hitter Chris Greve made it 6-4.
Cheltenham cut it to 6-5 with a run in the sixth and then tied the game in the seventh as a Lukas Nakkula sacrifice fly scored Alex Bugg.
Bugg finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Panthers. Ben Kaplan went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
McPeak finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Upper Dublin, while Rizzo was 2-for-4.
“McPeak had a monster of a hit late,” Wall said. “Pestrack’s work today in the box was fun to watch. Greve’s pinch-hit RBI gave the team a huge boost.”
Sean Curran pitched two innings of relief to pick up the win for UD, allowing just one hit and one unearned run.
Upper Dublin (3-1, 2-0 SOL) hosts Abington on Thursday.Cheltenham (2-2, 2-1 SOL) is off until Tuesday when it play at Wissahickon.

Hatboro-Horsham shook off a slow start and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull past Wissahickon 6-4.
The first three innings saw the Trojans – benefitting from some Hatter miscues – jump ahead 4-0.
“The first three innings were as bad as I’ve ever seen us defensively,” said H-H coach Pete Moore. “We had five errors in the first three innings and allowed all four runs to score.
“I give a lot of credit to our junior pitcher Eric Thron. He kept his composure on the mound. He pounded the zone and gave us 6 1/3 innings and all of (Wissahickon’s) runs were unearned. That was great.”
The Hatters trailed 4-2 going into the sixth, which started as Sean Gledhill reached on an error. Benny Wilson, Anthony Liott and Ryley Robinson each had RBI singles to put their team back in front.
“We really started swinging the bats like I expected us to today,” Moore said.
Wilson and Anthony Bruno had two hits each, while five different Hatters – Gledhill, Andrew Lastowka, Wilson, Liott and Robinson – each drove in one run.
Thron picked up the win on the mound, scattering five hits and two walks, while striking out six. Wilson recorded the final two outs to record the save.
JT Culp had an RBI for Wissahickon, while Joe Hornig added a double.
Hatboro-Horsham (5-1, 1-1 SOL) plays at Upper Moreland on Thursday.
Wissahickon (1-2, 0-2 SOL) is back in action in a nonconference game Wednesday at William Tennent.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 4, Springfield 0
Ben Mascio pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball to lift Plymouth Whitemarsh to a 4-0 win over visiting Springfield.
Mascio threw 102 pitches before giving way to Joe Jaconski, allowing one hit and walking two, while striking out 10 Springfield hitters. Jaconski recorded the final out to secure the shutout.
“Ben was outstanding today, working the whole strike zone and pitching comfortably all afternoon,” said PW coach Chris Manero. “Really, from the first inning on, he seemed to have command of all of his pitches.”
Offensively, Drew Kliesch and Mike Orensky each had home runs to lead a five-hit attack for the Colonials. Orensky finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored.
PW jumped up 1-0 in the first on a RBI double by Kevin Reilly. Kliesch’s solo homer to lead off the bottom of the third made it 2-0. Orensky’s two-run homer to left in the sixth gave the Colonials two key insurance runs.
“We still need to do a better job of putting more balls in play at times,” Manero said, “but today it was the combination of strong pitching and extra base hits that carried us.”
Springfield (1-1, 1-1 SOL) looks to bounce back Thursday at Wissahickon.PW (2-3, 2-1 SOL) hosts Cheltenham on Thursday.

Abington 3, Upper Moreland 0
Joey DiMaria was dominant on the mound Tuesday, throwing a one-hitter as Abington blanked Upper Moreland in an SOL American Conference game.
In six innings, DiMaria allowed just a single to UM’s Kevin Davis, striking out seven and walking two to pick up the win. Henry Tyler pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.
“Joey DiMaria really came out ready to take charge today,” said Galloping Ghosts coach Jon Morrissette. “Then Henry Tyler came in and did a great job closing.
“We did have some great defensive play behind them too. Our center fielder, Angelo Pearson, made a great catch on a ball that looked like it would be a double or triple, our shortstop made a great catch and our first baseman did a great job picking balls out of the dirt. The defense made their job easier too.”
Offensively, Stephen Vogl and Kevin Worek each had RBI sacrifices for the Ghosts, while Cam Marrow had two runs scored.
Upper Moreland’s Connor O’Donnell was the hard-luck losing pitcher, going six innings and allowing just one earned run on five hits and two walks.
UM (1-2, 0-2 SOL) hosts rival Hatboro-Horsham on Thursday, while Abington (2-2, 1-1 SOL) plays at Upper Dublin on Thursday as well.

Central Bucks South 11, Central Bucks East 4
Brock Veit and Bryan Rossi had two hits each and combined for five runs scored, as Central Bucks South scored in every inning to remain undefeated with a 11-4 win over rival Central Bucks East.
Veit was 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored for the Titans, while Rossi was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI. Jake McKeown, Jake Trachtenberg, Connor McKeown, Owen Petrich and Dylan Gruber all had RBIs for South as well.
“At the plate, we did a great job of being patient, and putting the ball in play with two strikes,” said Titans coach Brian Klumpp. “Brock Veit did a great job at the top of the order against for us. Our base running today was impressive as well. I thought our guys did a great job of getting jumps and being aggressive.”
A passed ball and three straight errors led to four runs in the bottom of the second for CB South, which went in front 5-1 and never looked back.
On the mound, Petrich pitched five innings and picked up the win for the Titans, allowing just one earned run and striking out five. Kevin Gillard finished off the game with two innings, allowing two unearned runs.
“I thought Owen Petrich did a great job of setting the tone for us on the mound, giving us five strong innings,” Klumpp said. “We played pretty clean defense behind him and he did a great job pounding the mitt.”
CB East, which was plagued by five errors, was led by Colin Weber ( 2-for-4, RBI) while Nick Bitsko, David Bloom and Andrew Whinney also had RBIs.
CB East (1-2, 0-2 SOL) will host North Penn on Thursday, while CB South (3-0, 2-0 SOL) plays at Souderton.

Souderton 10, Central Bucks West 1
Souderton scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break open a close game and get past Central Bucks West 10-1.
Jacob Horton’s grand slam was the back-breaker in the sixth, which started with the Indians clinging to a 2-1 lead.
Also for Souderton, Jordan Morales went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Conlan Wall was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Hogan Despain also drove in two.
“Sophomore Jacob Horton stepped up big in the bottom of the sixth and hit a grand slam to close the door on a CB West comeback,” said Souderton coach Mike Childs. “We had good pitching, solid defense and timely hitting. Definitely, a team win today.”
On the mound, Luke Taylor pitched five shutout innings to get the win for the Indians, allowing just two hits and two walks, while striking out seven. Eric Richie pitched the final two innings to finish off the win.
“Luke Taylor was solid on the mound today,” Childs said. “He is one of our senior leaders on the mound and it showed today on a cold day to get our first league win.”
CB West managed just four hits, but starting pitcher Gene McGough kept the Bucks in the game, allowing single runs in the second and third innings, and scattering five hits and four walks in four innings.
The Bucks lone run came in the top of the sixth, as Tommy Comes drew a bases loaded walk to score Tyler Dalzell.
CB West (2-2, 1-1 SOL) will host Pennridge in a conference game on Thursday. Souderton (3-1, 1-0 SOL) plays host to CB South on Thursday.

Quakertown 12, Pennridge 5
Dennis Pierce and Mason Hicks each had home runs, while Adam Ritter went 4-for-4, as Quakertown started fast and then withstood a fierce rally to knock off rival Pennridge 12-5 at Second Street Playground.
“Always great to beat Pennridge,” said Quakertown coach Jon Pallone. “Adam Ritter did whatever was needed to get on base, Nolan Byrnes, Dennis Pierce and Mason Hicks did a great job being aggressive to good pitches.”
Pierce’s two-run homer to right-center jump started a six-run first inning for the visiting Panthers. Trevor Hurst and Sean Brennan drew RBI walks in the inning, while Griffin Kelley and Byrnes added RBI singles.
Pennridge was down, but not out, scoring two runs in the third and three in the fourth to make it a 6-5 game. Sean Clayton stole home for the Rams’ first run, and Jimmy Petrik had a RBI double in the third, and then in the fourth, Jon Nase and Nick Christ had RBI doubles and Hayden Maltby stole home.
Quakertown responded in a big way in the top of the fifth, with a Ritter double scoring a run and then Hicks connecting on a three-run home run to center to finish off the scoring.
Matt Ciarrocchi threw three shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four to pick up the save and secure the Panthers’ victory.
“Matt Ciarrocchi did a great job finishing out the last three innings,” Pallone said.
Nase and Petrik had two hits each for Pennridge. The Rams also received scoreless relief pitching from Anthony Helbling and Kaleb Rush.

Bensalem 8, William Tennent 2
Austin Shay and Nick Dean each had two hits and a double, as defending SOL National and District One champion Bensalem won for the first time of the season over visiting William Tennent on Tuesday.
The Owls started with four runs in the bottom of the first, including a RBI single by Dean to score Austin Shay with one out. Ryan Rooney, Rich Bordone and David Barnett also had RBIs in the innings.
Tennent cut the lead to 4-2 with a pair in the top of the second on a two-run single by Alex Wadsworth.
Bensalem added three more in the third to take control again, the key hit a two-run double by Shay.
Dom Grady picked up the win on the mound for Bensalem, allowed two earned runs on one hit, while scrambling five walks and striking out nine. Logan Young and Dean combined for three scoreless innings to close the game out.
Bensalem (1-1 SOL) next plays at Pennsbury on Thursday, while Tennent (2-1, 0-1 SOL) hosts a nonleague game against Wissahickon on Wednesday.

Pennsbury 4, North Penn 0
Christian Buchler dominated over 6 2/3 innings, shutting out North Penn on the way to a 4-0 win for Pennsbury in nonconference cross-over game.Buchler allowed just five hits and one walk, striking out eight.
“Christian Buchler was one of our starters last year, but he didn’t have a great outing down in Myrtle Beach,” said Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci. “He came out today and was just incredible. He was just on and throwing three or four pitches for strikes consistently.”
Drew Hensor went 3-for-3 for Pennsbury, while Sam Ruta was 3-for-4. Ruta’s RBI single in the top of the third scored Hensor for the game’s first run. The Falcons added one in the fifth and then two key insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Shane Marlin had a pair of RBIs for Pennsbury, while Justin Massielo was 2-for-4.
North Penn’s Joe Valenti kept his team in the game, scattering 10 hits, without a walk and allowing just two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings.
The Knights, who were without starters Zack Miles and Jake Drelich because of injuries, were led by Kyle Schuzle, who went 2-for-3.
“It was interesting,” Pesci said. “When you play North Penn, you are always waiting for them to break out. But Christian kept them at bay. (North Penn) is a well-coached team, they execute well, but today we were able to string some hits together to get a few runs.”
Pennsbury (4-1) returns to SOL National play on Thursday when it hosts Bensalem.North Penn (2-2) has a road game Thursday at Central Bucks East.
