SOL Continental
Souderton 3, Central Bucks South 0
Jordan Morales pitched a five-hitter and Souderton clinched at least a share of the Suburban One League Continental Conference title with a win over second-place Central Bucks South on Tuesday.
With the win, Morales improved to 5-1 on the season with a 0.23 ERA.
“Jordan pitched well today and we played good defense behind him,” said Souderton coach Mike Childs. “He had five (strikeouts) but even more impressive was he pitched his second shutout against South, which has some players that can barrel up the ball.”
Offensively, the Indians did it with the long ball early on. Jake Horton hit his third home run of the season in the top of the first inning to stake his team the lead 1-0 lead. An inning later, Andrew Curran made it 2-0 with his first HR of the season.
In the seventh, Horton gave his team an insurance run, as a sacrifice fly scored Hogan Despain.
Morales did the rest, retiring the side in order in the bottom half of the inning to cap off a 102-pitch performance.
Curran and Conlan Wall had two hits each for Souderton.
CB South was led by Brock Veit, who went 2-for-3, while Jake Trachtenber had a double. Ryan Rieber was the hard-luck losing pitching, allowing just the two home runs, while striking out seven in 5 1/3 innings.
Souderton (12-2, 9-0 SOL) can clinch the conference title outright with one win in its last three conference games. It hosts CB East Wednesday.CB South (8-4, 6-3 SOL) plays at Pennridge on Thursday.

North Penn 4, Central Bucks East 0
Senior left-hander Joe Valenti gave North Penn the shot in the arm it needed with a complete-game, five-hit shutout, as the Knights blanked CB East in Tuesday’s Autism Awareness game.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for North Penn, which scored just one run in losses to a pair of conference-leading teams, Souderton and Pennsbury, last week.
Valenti (2-3, 1.27 ERA) didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.
“Joe Valenti has been something to watch this season,” said North Penn coach Kevin Manero. “Again today, he controlled every aspect of the game – 77 pitches, controlled the running game, no walks. In the ERA of velo, weighted balls and indoor Instagram stars, it’s really refreshing to see a kid that just flat-out understands the art of pitching in every way.”
Offensively, North Penn didn’t have much luck for three innings against CB East starter Anthony Yermolov, but it did cash in for a run in the fourth. Alex Gilbert had an RBI single that scored Kolby Barrow for the game’s first run.
In the bottom of the sixth, Joe Morello led off with a single, Connor Ertel drew a one-out walk and a bunt single by Gilbert loaded the bases. A pinch-hit single by Alex Kee scored one and a Jake Drelick single drove in two to make it a 4-0 game.
“We have needed something to ignite our offense and I was very proud of the way our 7, 8, 9 and 1 hitters generated some big at bats and big hits today,” Manero said.“Alex Gilbert has been a courtesy runner all season, and while many would discount that, he has owned and embraced that role. He has studied pitchers and worked intensely on reading their stuff. To see him get a shot today in his first varsity
conference start, and get two hits and a big RBI is pretty cool.”
Drelick and Ertel had two hits each for North Penn.

Pennsbury 3, Bensalem 1
With three runs in the top of the first inning and then behind the pitching of senior Christian Buchler, Pennsbury maintained its hold on first place in the SOL National with a 3-1 win over Bensalem on Tuesday.
Buchler (3-0) pitched 6 2/3 innings, before being removed from the game with his pitch count at 105 in the seventh. He allowed one run on five hits and just one walk, while striking out three.
Sean Hochausler recorded the final out to pick up the save.
“A day where our offense struggled, Christian Buchler was excellent on the mound,” said Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci. “He was able to spread out five hits and only give up one run.
“That’s a senior pitcher stepping up when we needed him. It’s a shame the pitch count caught up to him because he wanted to finish the game. We couldn’t really ask for more out of Christian.”
Offensively, the Falcons managed just seven hits against Bensalem pitching but made them count in the first inning.
Sam Ruta reached on a one-out single, Justin Massielo, Justin Fogel and Sam Spadea walked and then with two outs, Sean Doherty’s two-run single made it a 3-0 advantage.
From that point, Bensalem reliever Ryan McLaughlin was solid, with 5 1/3 shutout innings, allowing just four hits and a walk, while striking out four. He gave his team a chance to get back in the game.
“Sean Doherty came up with a huge two-out, 2-RBI single in the first that proved to be the difference maker,” Pesci said. “Bensalem brought in McLaughlin, and he did a great job keeping our hitters at bay after that first inning.”
The Owls’ only run came in the bottom of the fourth as a Damon Lavender single scored Austin Shay. That, however, was all they could get against Buchler.
Pennsbury (12-3, 8-1 SOL) remains a game ahead of Neshaminy in the conference standings, and on Thursday will host William Tennent. Bensalem (8-3, 5-3 SOL) saw its seven-game winning streak snapped. It will look to get back into the win column Thursday at red-hot Council Rock South.

Temple, who came on in the second after Truman led off with a two bases on balls, allowed just three hits and one walk, while striking out four.
“Max Temple was fantastic on the mound today,” said Neshaminy coach Dan Toner.
Tyler Chew was very strong for Truman, allowing just two runs in a 91-pitch, seven-inning performance. He scattered six hits and four walks and struck out two.
All of the runs in the game came in the first inning.
For Neshaminy, Gus Natelli led off the game with a single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt. Natelli then stole third and would score on a wild pitch. An RBI single by Matt Yauger scored Joe Kaleck to make it 2-0.
Truman would come right back as Evan Profy and Joey Wright walked to lead off the game. A double steal would put runners on second and third, and Profy scored on a sac fly by Timmy Foley.
Neshaminy starter Dan Errigo got out of the jam with a strikeout.

Stalker went 6 1/3 innings, throwing 100 pitches before being replaced by Abbe in the seventh. Stalker scattered four walks and struck out nine. Abbe walked one and struck out one, recording the final two outs in the Tennent seventh, and picking up the win in relief.
Matt Monaghan was almost as good for Tennent, and he held the Indians scoreless for six innings, but in the seventh, the home team capitalized.

Upper Moreland 6, Hatboro-Horsham 2
Greg Wiley allowed just one earned run over 6 2/3 innings, as Upper Moreland won its fourth straight game, knocking off first-place Hatboro-Horsham on the road by a 6-2 final score.
Wiley went 6 2/3 innings before being removed after throwing 103 pitches, scattering four hits and one walk, while striking out six. Colin Bates worked around three walks and ended the game with a strikeout in the seventh.
Offensively, Upper Moreland scored three runs in the first, as Kevin Davis had a RBI single with the bases loaded, and both Garrett Garofalo and Connor English drew bases loaded walks.
Then in the second, Davis scored two with a long double to left field, putting the Golden Bears in command at 5-0.
“We did a good job in the first and second innings,” said UM coach Dan Heiland. “Guys were walking, we were moving guys and our outs were productive. We were able to score guys early and put the pressure on them.”
Hatboro-Horsham got on the scoreboard with a solo home run to left by Bradan Mallon in the bottom of the second, but stranded eight runners on base and couldn’t cash in on scoring opportunities in four of the last five innings.
UM’s Wiley worked out of second and third with one out jam in the third.
“They never got comfortable,” Heiland said. “They never were really able to put a threat to us. Greg kept them off the bases for the most part and when they did get guys on, we got out of it. That’s a credit to Greg Wiley. He really did pitch his butt off today.”
Ram Krishnamoorthy pitched 5 1/3 strong innings out of the bullpen for the Hatters, allowing just one earned run on five hits, walking one and striking out three.

“Ben continues to give us confidence as a team every time he takes the mound,” said Colonials coach Chris Manero. “He pounded the strike zone against today and never found himself in trouble.”
Offensively, PW broke a scoreless tie and scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Jesse Jaconski led off the inning with a double, followed by a Mike Orensky single. Jaconski would late scored on an error, and after a Richie Werner bunt single, Joe Jaconski had an RBI double to right to make it 2-0.
Drew Kliesch followed with an RBI single, Kevin Reilly had a RBI sac fly and a Mascio ground out scored the fifth and final run of the inning.
“Offensively, we put together a nice inning in the third, stringing six of our hits together combined with good base-running and bunting,” Manero said. “Our hitters made some nice adjustments after coming up empty in the first two innings.”
Orensky and Jacob Nunez finished with two hits each for the Colonials, who had eight hits for the game.
Kieran Versaw-Barnes had both of Cheltenham’s hits. Brennon Palk pitched all six innings for the Panthers, with an otherwise solid outing spoiled by the five-run third inning.
PW (8-6, 8-2 SOL) now is tied with Hatboro-Horsham, which lost to Upper Moreland on Tuesday. It hosts Abington on Thursday.

CR South answered right back, however, with three runs to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth. Obarowski led off with a single, followed by a RBI double by Gregory and a RBI single by Ennis. Bubba Wilkinson then tied it with a two-out RBI single.
The critical fifth inning saw Jack O’Neill reach on a hit-by-pitch. A one-out single by Obarowski put runners on first and third, and after a stolen base, Gregory scored both with a single to center field.
Quakertown scored a run in the sixth as Mason Hicks was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, but Purcell recorded the final two outs with the bases loaded to get out of the jam, and worked around a lead-off single in the seventh as well.
