North Penn 7, Souderton 3
A five-spot in the bottom of the third was exactly what North Penn needed as it battled back from a pair of early Souderton runs and rolled from there on the way to its second straight win over its neighboring rival.
“We got a lot of production out of the middle of our order today,” said Knights coach Kevin Manero. “Christian Barnes has had real big hits in back-to-back games, and our lineup depth is starting to get a little longer which is what we’ve really needed.
“Last night was quick and clean. Today wasn’t the same kind of game, but we scored in several innings and did a nice job of extending a lead twice which means the offense is working.
“At the same time once we got going at the plate, Trey Brennan put great work in out of the bullpen to hold down the fort.”
Brennan threw four innings in relief and did not allow an earned run. Brighton Fontaine started and threw three innings, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned).
By the Numbers: North Penn: Christian Barnes (3-for-3, double, 3 RBIs), Ben Grattan (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Logan Waynick (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Trey Brennan (4 IP, 2 ER, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 3rd: Trailing 2-0, Kevin Brace got it started with a one-out single, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an error. Mason Coyne later singled, and Christian Barnes picked up three RBIs with a double to center field. Logan Waynick made it 5-2 with an RBI single.
Up next: North Penn (14-2, 9-2 SOL) will be on the road at Souderton (7-6-1, 6-5) Thursday (6:30 pm).

Pennridge 8, Central Bucks South 2

Trailing 1-0 after four, Pennridge scored four runs in the fifth and eight in the final three innings.
By the Numbers: Pennridge: Tim Croyle (3-for-4, 1 RBI, 3 runs), Tommy Ginnetti (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Zach Swanson (2 RBIs), Brayden Robinson (2 RBIs), Connor Murray (WP, 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 3 K).

Pennsbury 9, Bensalem 5
After a frustrating offensive game on Monday, Pennsbury put it together at the plate when it mattered most on Tuesday, jumping ahead by nine runs and hanging on for the 9-5 win over Bensalem.
“Today, the kids did a phenomenal job,” said Falcons coach Joe Pesci. “Same thing happened (as Monday) when we loaded the bases in the first inning. But Mike Sogness hit a two-run single.
“Then again in the third, three straight balls in play, and that’s great because our guys were putting the ball in play in certain situations.”
Pesci was ejected from Monday’s game and was suspended for Tuesday’s rematch. The team was coached by assistants Dave Howe and Kurt Kramp, as well as help from the junior varsity staff.
By the Numbers: Pennsbury: Ryan Webber (2-for-3), Carlton Crane (2-for-5, double, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Ben Seidler (2-for-4), Mike Sogness (2 RBIs), Mason Keith (WP, 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K).
Bensalem: Pete Pasquarella (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), Mikey Kramer (2-for-3), Joe Dougherty (2-for-4, double)
Key Inning: Top of the 1st: Pennsbury started fast with three in its first at-bat. The first three reached with an Evan Hawkes walk and singles by Carlton Crane and Ryan Webber. Brendan Zuckerman walked with the bases loaded, and then with two outs Mike Sogness hit a bloop two-run RBI single.
Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci: “Our first five outs were strikeouts. That was frustrating to watch. Sometimes, you need to ground out to second and move the guy. (Bensalem’s) pitcher was doing a great job making us guess.
“Our strikeout totals were a little too much, but our kids were able to string some things together. Up 9-0 is a nice cushion. (Pitcher) Mason Keith was just dealing. Then, it was hit, hit, hit, double, walk, and just like that it turned into a three-run game. You can’t let teams like Bensalem back in a game.”
–Assistant coaches step up: “The coaching staff did a phenomenal job getting them in the right mindset. Those guys did a great job. They didn’t press, came out and let the game come together. I’m happy those guys were able to take over for me and helped those guys out.”
Up next: Bensalem (11-4, 6-4 SOL) will be on the road at Pennsbury (11-3-1, 8-3) Thursday

Offensively, CR North broke out on the road, scoring in all but one inning and defeating Truman by a 10-3 final score on Tuesday.
The Indians led 4-0 and then 7-1 after four innings.
“Will Godonis threw a gem tonight – six innings, 83 pitches and 58 strikes,” said CR North coach Matt Schram. “He was effective, efficient and had great command.
“Offensively we sprayed 10 hits, had a number of two-out RBIs.
“For the first time this season, we were better in all facets of the game.
By the Numbers: CR North: Will Seiler (3-for-4, 2 runs), Noah Furman (triple, 1 RBI), Jude Hamilton (2 RBIs), Preston Martin (double, 1 RBI), Will Godonis (WP, 6 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 7 K).

Neshaminy 9, Council Rock South 1
Neshaminy trailed 1-0 early, but that didn’t last long, as it countered with two in the second and five in the third to take control on the way to the 9-1 win.
Matt Gryn dominated on the mound for Nesahminy, not allowing an earned run or a walk in going the distance for the complete-game win, as 77 percent of his pitches were strikes.
In two games this week, both wins over CR South, Neshaminy has had to use just two pitchers.
By the Numbers: Neshaminy: Jake Plebani (2-for-2, double, 3 RBIs), Dan Marable (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 3 runs), Matt Gryn (7 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 3rd: The first five batters reached base in the inning, which started with a Chase Bonner single. Noah Wallace walked, and Danny Nocito was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Dan Marable scored one with an RBI single, a bases loaded walk to Anthony Kurley plated another, and then Mike Sassano had an RBI sac fly and Jake Plebani an RBI single to right to make it 6-1.
Neshaminy coach Dan Toner said: “We played a very well-rounded game today. We took advantage of some walks and drove in runs in pivotal moments of the game. Senior and captain Jake Plebani gave us the spark we needed today. We had a couple miscues in the outfield and ended up giving up a run. In the bottom of the inning, with two on, Jake came up with a huge double. It was a great answer.”
– On the mound: “Matt Gryn had another fantastic outing. Matt has a great demeanor on the mound and is just a flat-out competitor. He has been lights out for us all year.”
–Defensively: “Besides a couple miscues in the outfield, we played very good defense. Our infield is making very difficult plays look easy. Brandon Lall, Chase Bonner, Mike Sassano and Noah Wallace make it very difficult for runners to get on if the ball is anywhere on the ground in the infield. They all work extremely hard at their craft, and it has been paying off for us as a team.”
Up next: Neshaminy (9-4, 8-2 SOL) will travel to Council Rock South (6-7, 4-2) Thursday.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 4, Abington 3
It wasn’t pretty, but Plymouth Whitemarsh found a way to get it done Tuesday, with four runs in the bottom of the sixth for the come-from-behind Senior Day win over visiting Abington.
PW scored four runs on just one hit in that sixth inning, and had just two hits for the game.
Jake Rauscher earned the win for PW, allowing just two earned runs over six innings, while striking out eight.
By the Numbers: PW: Mason Eagland (1 RBI), Gabe Caucci (1 RBI), Dominic Criscuolo (1 RBI), Jake Rauscher (WP, 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K).
Abington: Joe Loughney (2-for-3), Chase Wolf (4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 5 BB, 5 K)
Key Inning: Bottom of the 6th: Stymied for most of the game, PW came alive, taking advantage of two errors and four walks to plate four runs and overcome a 3-0 deficit. Sam Stolzer had a single and Dominic Criscuolo an RBI sac fly, while three runs scored on bases loaded walks.
PW coach Chris Manero: “Yesterday, we rode a great starting pitching performance by a freshman. Today, we turned to a senior and our most experienced pitcher, and he looked every bit the part.
“Jake was zoned in and determined and really put the team on his back. He has a certain look when he’s extra locked in, and I saw that a lot today.
–Senior Day: “It was our Senior Day, and we gave the ball to Owen Pizzi as our opener. He gave us exactly what we wanted before turning it over to Jake.
“And we were very happy for senior Matt Spagna, who hasn’t gotten a ton of at bats this year, but got the start in the 3-spot in the order and picked up a hit in his first at bat – one of only two hits for us today.”
“We didn’t play our best game today, and it shows that we still have a lot to work on. But winning two games to start the week was the plan, and that’s where we are.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh (8-7, 6-5 SOL) will travel to Abington (2-9) on Thursday.

Upper Dublin 9, Hatboro-Horsham 0
A day after a no-hitter by ace Austin Dahl stole the headlines, Upper Dublin was at it again with another stellar pitching performance, but this time the Flying Cardinals jumped up with a ton of run support on the way to the 9-0 win.
A seven-run second inning put UD in control early.
Starter Luke Caron and reliever Ryan Fogle combined for a two-hit shutout, with Caron picking up the win with five shutout innings.
By the Numbers: UD: Austin Dahl (2-for-4, triple, 2 RBIs), Wesley Gill (2-for-2, 2 RBIs), Luke Caron (5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 8 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 2nd: UD plated seven runs, two by bases loaded walks and another by an error to make it 3-0. Oliver Gill, Austin Dahl, and Wesley Gill followed with RBI singles.
Upper Dublin coach Ed Wall: “Today’s win versus Hatboro-Horsham was a great team win.
“It has been a while since we’ve had a big inning, and the second inning was a breakthrough for us.
“Luke Caron threw well for us. He faced the minimum through the first three, but ran into a few minor situations in the fourth and fifth, and I was glad to see him work out of those.
“The story of the day was our hitters putting the ball in play and making the other team work hard to get us out.”
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham (5-10, 4-7 SOL) will be on the road at Upper Dublin (10-5, 8-3) Thursday.

Wissahickon 6, Quakertown 5
With big hits in big spots, quality at bats and taking advantage of opportunities, Wissahickon clinched its season series with Quakertown with a close 6-5 win on Tuesday.
The Trojans won Monday’s game 8-5, and Tuesday was even closer, as the teams went back-and-forth throughout, before Wissahickon reliever Christian Sinopoli was able to get a groundout to end the game with one on in the bottom of the seventh.
Quakertown’s Gerry Stanziola hit two home runs, including a solo shot in the seventh.
“Today was a huge win for our program and where we are trying to go this season,” said Wissahickon coach Andy Noga. “That’s a great program, so to win the series like that is really an accomplishment for our boys.
“And we got it done in a very Wissahickon baseball fashion. We worked good at bats, wore pitches, bunted, created chaos on the basepaths and pitched well.”
By the Numbers: Wissahickon: Josh Stonesifer (2-for-3, double, 1 RBI), Giulio Carbo (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Adam Hajdak (WP, 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K).
Quakertown: Gerry Stanziola (2-for-4, 2 HR, 3 RBIs, 3 runs), Cole Reich (2-for-4, double, 2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Top of the 3rd: Tied at 2, Wissahickon took the lead for good. Carbo led off the inning with a double, and then back-to-back errors plated a pair of runs. With two outs, Josh Stonesifer added an RBI single to push the lead to 5-2.
Wissahickon coach Andy Noga: “For the second straight day Mark Selverian was hit by two pitches and set the tone for our offense. Giulio Carbo continues to swing it well, barreling up balls in big spots for us. Josh Stonesifer was electric, getting on base all four at bats today, working two quality walks, gapping a double and driving in a run for us.”
–On the mound: “Adam Hajdak battled through not having his best stuff, getting himself out of some big jams to keep us in the game in the mid innings, and then Christian Sinopoli came in and was tremendous for the six-out save. That’s a big spot we put him in, and he continues to do what he’s done for us all year: toe the rubber and get huge outs in big spots.
“We’re really looking forward to Thursday back at our place, a big Game 3 with a chance for a series sweep.”
Up next: Quakertown (8-6, 7-4 SOL) will travel to Wissahickon (9-6, 6-5) Thursday.

SOL Freedom Division
Upper Moreland 3, Springfield Twp 1
Game 2 of the series for the top spot in the Freedom Division proved as thrilling as the first go around on Monday, but this time it was Upper Moreland’s turn to come out with a win in the end.
Behind the pitching of freshman Cannon Campbell and some clutch hitting in key spots, the Golden Bears avenged Monday’s loss with a 3-1 win over Springfield to once again tie the squads in the division, with the rubber match set for Thursday.
“Great team win for us where we manufactured a few runs and got an outstanding starting pitching performance from freshman Cannon Campbell,” said UM coach Jim Fasano. “Sets up a pivotal Game 3 against a really good Springfield team on Thursday.
“Canny went 6 2/3, threw 103 pitches and started a huge double play in the fourth inning after Springfield loaded the bases with nobody out. We threw his splitter a ton, and it goes to show how important it is to be able to throw secondary pitches for strikes.”
By the Numbers: UM: Cannon Campbell (6 2/3 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K), Chase Moore (2-for-3, RBI), Zach O’Connor (double, 1 RBI).
Springfield: Bob Hartman (6 2/3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 8 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 7th: Clinging to a 1-0 lead, UM scored two key insurance runs. Jimmy Murray drew a leadoff walk, Lucas Zipper added a single to put runners on first and third. Zach O’Connor followed with a pinch-hit RBI double, and then Chase Moore singled to make it 3-0.
UM coach Jim Fasano: “I’m a little afraid to check my heart rate chart during the fourth and seventh innings, but Cannon has mastered the art of breathing through his eyelids and maintaining an unflinching mound presence. My guess is around 55 BPM for him.”
–Props: “We made the decision to put sophomore Chase Moore in the leadoff spot. Kid is a ball player, team leader, and a grinder. And the best ones are grinders.
“Ethan Molt threw three strikes in a tight spot in the seventh to secure the save. Kid has worked super hard to contribute and is planning on pitching at Montco next year. His best days on the mound are in front of him, but I’m glad we got three huge pitches out of him today.
“Our infield defense was fabulous – Chase Moore and Chase Rampulla up the middle and Jimmy Murray at third base. I tell Jimmy he reminds me of a middle school Scott Rolen and today he made that comparison look smart.
“(Pat) Beef Kilgus is Beef Kilgus. He’s the best hitter in our division and would win league MVP if the voting were held today. West Chester is getting a dude who’s really figuring it out.
“Zach ‘Poo’ O’Connor had the game-winning two-strike pinch hit RBI single. Shows why making contact with two strikes and RISP is so important. And couldn’t happen to a better kid or teammate.”
Next up: Springfield Twp (11-3, 10-1 SOL) will be on the road at Upper Moreland (11-4, 10-1) Thursday.
Upper Moreland 100 000 2 – 3 5 1
