Quakertown, CR South and CB West were winners in non-league baseball action on Monday.

QUAKERTOWN 5, UPPER DUBLIN 4
In a non-league battle featuring former American Conference rivals, it was the Panthers – the defending conference champions – edging an Upper Dublin squad that is atop the American Conference standings after four games.
“They have quality players, they’re well coached, and it’s always a quality win,” Quakertown coach Jon Pallone said.
The Flying Cardinals had the tying run at third with none out in the bottom of the seventh, but Ben Eichorn got out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts and then coaxed a groundout to short for the game’s final out to preserve the win.
“Ben Eichorn showed his toughness with the tying run on third base and no outs and was able to close the door,” Pallone said.
The two teams were deadlocked 3-3 heading into the fifth inning when the Panthers scored the go ahead run. With two outs, Adam Ritter, who was hit by a pitch, scored on Sam Rice’s RBI single to give the Panthers a 4-3 edge.
In the sixth, the Panthers used back-to-back-to-back singles by Dennis Pierce, Brad Bryan and Sean Brennan (RBI) to up their lead to 5-3. They needed every one of those runs as the Panthers staged a seventh inning rally, pulling to within one on a passed ball, but that’s where the rally ended.
Rice was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Panthers.
Andrew Nace notched the win, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out three and walking one in 3.1 innings.
“Andrew Nace earned his first varsity win after battling with injuries the last two years,” Pallone said. “Sam had a clutch RBI double (in the third inning).”
Brian McPeak had a big day at the plate to lead the Flying Cardinals, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.
“Their number three hitter was on fire, crushing everything,” Pallone said of McPeak.
Jacob Womelsdorf had a pair of RBIs and Karan Achayra was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and run scored. Carter Pestrack also had a double. Five of the Cardinals eight hits were doubles.
Quakertown (4-1, 1-1 SOL) will host North Penn Tuesday, and Upper Dublin (5-2, 4-0) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh Tuesday.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 6, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 5
The Golden Hawks found themselves staring at a 5-1 deficit heading into the top of the sixth when they erupted for five runs and held on for the non-league win.
"I'm proud of this team and it's 'never-say-die' approach," coach Ted Kirner said.
Highlights of the five-run uprising included singles by Joe Purcell and Jared Ennis (RBI) while leadoff batter Emilio Pallante delivered a two-run double and Trey Obarowski also had an RBI double
Raphael Vogeley earned the win, allowing just one hit in 3.2 scoreless innings to close out the game. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. Pallante was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot for the Golden Hawks. Obarowski was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Bennett Bobrin, Ennis and Luke Gregory each added an RBI. Jack O’Neill contributed a double.
Tyler Young led the Patriots with a 3-for-4 effort that included a triple, RBI and run scored. Jack Nugent was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. His two-run home run after Young tripled gave the Patriots a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first. James Pello was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and run scored. Andrew Whinney singled and drove in a run.
Council Rock South (2-1, 0-1 SOL) will travel to Bensalem Tuesday, and Central Bucks East (2-3, 1-2) will host Souderton Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 14, EMMAUS 5
The Bucks broke a 5-5 tie with six runs in the fifth. They added three more in the seventh to win going away.
“It was just one of those games where everything clicked,” coach Brian Weaver said. “We threw a handful of guys since it was non-league, and they were all effective.
“Gene McGough and Danny Miller were good in their limited role. Bill McGinnis got out of a jam in the fifth with two big strikeouts. Aidan Quinn stepped in and gave us three shutout innings to close it out. He's a freshman we called up last week to fill in for an injury, so we figured we'd give him an inning or two today. All he does is shut down a lineup that hasn't been able to stop scoring recently.
“We played great defense behind them, which was a huge point of emphasis for us last week- just make the routine plays behind our pitcher.”
Quinn allowed just one hit over the final three innings, striking out one and walking two in three shutout innings against a Green Hornet squad that had scored 38 runs in its last three games combined.
Brian Gilvary led the Bucks with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate that included two doubles, five RBIs and a run scored. His three-run double spotted the visiting Bucks a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Matt McCarthy was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Rhys Nicholas was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
“Brian Gilvary clobbered a pair of doubles,” Weaver said. “He's not a flashy player, but every time you look up he's doing the right thing, pitching well, running a ball down, getting a timely hit.
“Matt McCarthy had a pair of hits, but what you can't see in the box score is that he legged out an infield single, and he picked up an extra base on a throw on his next hit. We've been stressing base running, and situational awareness. He is a big asset on the base paths.”
Tommy Comes and Aidan Quinn both singled, drove in a run and scored a pair. Mike Bukowski and Ryan Rudek each contributed an RBI.
Central Bucks West (4-2, 2-1 SOL) will host Harry S Truman in a non-league game Wednesday.
