Pennridge 5, Central Bucks West 4
After watching a three-run lead disappear in the top of the sixth, Pennridge answered back with two in the bottom of the sixth, and reliever Connor Murray then set CB West down in the bottom half of the inning, as the Rams picked up their first division win of the season on Tuesday.
Tommy Giannetti had the big hit for the Rams, with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, a single to left to score Brayden Robinson.
By the Numbers: Pennridge: Tommy Giannetti (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Zach Swanson (2-for-3, 1 double, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Brayden Robinson (2 RBIs), Ryder Olson (WP, 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K).

Pennridge coach Danny Long: “Today was a very gutsy win for us. To lose the lead late in the game and find a way to take it back shows what a resilient bunch we have.”
–Props: “Ryder Olson was awesome, giving us five shutout innings, and Connor Murray closed the door in the seventh.”
Up Next: Game two of the series is Wednesday, as Pennridge (4-3, 1-3 SOL) plays at CB West. (5-2, 2-2).

Souderton 5, Central Bucks East 2
Three runs in the top of the seventh broke open a tie game as red-hot Souderton remained unbeaten in Colonial Division play with the win on the road at CB East.
The Indians took advantage of three walks and two hit batters in the seventh to plate the deciding runs.
Senior Tyler Lutz, the winning pitcher, recorded 12 strikeouts, passing the 100-strikeout milestone for his career.
By the Numbers: Souderton: Charlie Hunsicker (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), Trent Lutz (1 RBI), Brett Pollock (1 RBI), Tyler Lutz (WP, 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 12 K)
CB East: Anthony Niro (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBIs)
Key inning: Top of the 7th: Tied at 2, Souderton’s Cody Ricko and Connor Klock led off the inning with walks. With one out, Tyler Deery was hit by a pitch. Trent Lutz walked to score a run, and another crossed when Pollock was hit by a pitch. Charlie Hunsinger’s single to center made it a 5-2 game.
Souderton coach Mike Childs: “Tyler Lutz was great on the mound today. He gave up a two-run home run in the second but settled in and struck out 12 while not letting up another run. He is a three-year starter and a great leader for our younger pictures. I was happy for him as he notched his 100th strike out today.
“Charlie Hunsicker is continuing to look confident at the plate with 3 hits today. Our full lineup is contributing to these wins. I was happy to see us come from behind on the road and notch the win. “Our senior leadership has created a ‘never say die’ culture. I’m very impressed with our team as they’re feeding off each other’s successes.”
Up Next: Souderton (5-1, 4-0 SOL looks for its fifth straight division win Wednesday, as it hosts CB East (3-4, 0-4) in the second of three games between the two teams this week.

Pennsbury 6, Council Rock South 1
Junior Connor O’Brien and a pair of relievers held CR South to just one run on five hits, as Pennsbury improved to 3-1 in conference play by taking the first of three this week against the visiting Golden Hawks.
Making his first start of the season, O’Brien pitched five shutout innings, allowing just three hits and one walk, while striking out six.
By the Numbers: Pennsbury: Brendan Zuckerman (3-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run), Ryan Webber (1 RBI), Michael Sogness (1 RBI), Ty Lee (1 RBI), Connor O’Brien (WP, 5 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 3rd: Pennsbury broke a scoreless tie with a five spot. Ryan Webber reached on an error with two outs, and Dylan Hirsh and Nolan Kolanko then were both hit by pitches to load the bases. Brendan Zuckerman singled to score two, another error scored a run, and Michael Sogness and Ty Lee followed with RBI singles.
Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci: “Connor O’Brien pitched maybe 10 innings for us last year. This was his first start, and he did a great job. I pulled him at 63 pitches, which is great, 12 or so per inning. It was really cold out, and he probably could have stayed out there, but we felt pretty comfortable that we could take him out.
“It’s just getting in rhythm and locking in. It was a cold day, and windy too. But having short innings, you can get in and get warm and then go back out. Connor did a
really good job in his first start.”
–Offensively: “We left some runs out there too. We had first and second and nobody out in the second and had two strikeouts and a popup and didn’t score. I think we left one more run out there in third.
“(Scoring five runs in the third) all came with two outs. Two strikeouts, reach on an error, hit by a pitch, single. Just putting the ball in play that inning was huge.
“It was a day that we didn’t hit a ton, but we put the ball in play a lot. I’m not happy with the way we’re popping up. We had 12 in the game we lost to (CR) North last week, and today we had five or six.”
Up Next: Pennsbury (5-1-1, 3-1 SOL) is at CR South (4-4, 2-2) in the second of two between the teams on Wednesday.

Bensalem 7, Harry S. Truman 6 (8 innings)
A bunt single by Pete Pasquarella and a throwing error was the difference, as Bensalem won a wild one against visiting Harry S. Truman on Tuesday, 7-6, in eight innings.
Hayden Sorenson pitched three shutout and hitless innings of relief, striking out six, and keeping the game at 6-6 for the final three innings.
By the Numbers: Bensalem: Pete Pasquarella (2-for-4, 3 RBIs), Jimmy McGinty (2-for-3, 1 double, 1 triple, 1 RBI), Mike Kramer (2-for-2, double, 3 runs), Joey Doc (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Hayden Sorenson (WP, 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K).
Truman: Nate Gilson (3-for-4, triple, 3 RBIs), Kevin Pickard (3-for-4, double, 2 runs), Mike Metz (2-for-4, 2 RBIs, 2 runs).
Key inning: Bottom of the 3rd: With the score tied 2-2, Kramer doubled to left to lead off the inning and moved up to third on a sac bunt by Ryan Strazz. Pasquarella grounded an RBI single to center, and after Pasquarella stole second and advanced to third on an error, Doc delivered an RBI single. Jimmy McGinty’s two-out triple to right plated a run and put the Owls on top 5-2.
Bensalem coach Harry Daut Jr.: “Both teams fought hard, a really good, competitive game. We had a good relief effort from Hayden Sorenson.”

Wissahickon 8, Abington 5
Six runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning enabled Wissahickon to erase a 5-0 deficit on the way to the bounce-back win over Abington in the second of three between the teams this week.
The Trojans had four singles and four walks in the big fifth inning.
“This was a very big team win for us,” said coach Andy Noga. “We have had some tough losses to start our league season that have tested us as a group. We all checked in together and have been putting in good practices, good rounds in the cages and in BP, and we finally were able to see the hits drop for us today.”
By the Numbers: Wissahickon: Chase Neumeister (2-for-3, 1 run), Adam Hajdak (2-for-4, 1 run), Charlie Ajemian (2 RBIs), Mark Selverian (2 RBIs), Josh Stonesifer (2 RBIs), Christian Sinopoli (WP, 3 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K)
Key inning: Top of the 5th: Ryan Kim reached on a walk, followed by singles from Adam Hajdak and Chase Neumeister. An error scored Wissahickon’s first run, followed by a bases loaded walk to Jonnie Klinger. An RBI single by Mark Selverian scored two runs and Stonesifer put his team in front with a two-RBI single.
Wissahickon coach Andy Noga: “We counted on a lot of different guys in different roles today and they stepped up when their number was called. Senior Daniel McGarry came in off the bench to make a couple nice plays at third base. Sophomore Giulio Carbo pitched very well to start the game for us and then we handed the ball off to senior Christian Sinopoli to finish it off.
“Freshman Charlie Ajemian had a good day offensively and made some really big plays for us defensively at some really big times in the game.
“Offensively we were able to get guys on base, run the bases hard and get timely hits to cash in. Our first time through the order wasn’t great but we were hitting balls hard. Our guys made the necessary adjustments for at bat to at bat and pitch by pitch to get the job done.
“Sophomore Chase Neumeister had a big day for us stepping into the starting lineup. Junior Ryan Kim continues to give us great team at bats.”

Quakertown 8, Hatboro-Horsham 3
Six runs on four hits in the top of the seventh, highlighted by a three-run home run by Cole Reich, lifted Quakertown from behind on Tuesday, as the Panthers rallied on the road to score the 8-3 win over Hatboro-Horsham in Liberty Division play.
“Great come-from-behind team win,” said Quakertown coach Jon Pallone. “The guys stayed in the game from beginning to end. We weren’t perfect, but we minimized our mistakes.”
By the Numbers: Quakertown: Cole Reich (2-for-3, 1 double, 1 HR, 3 RBIs), Carter Tucholski (1 HR, 1 RBI), Gerry Stanziola (2-for-3, 1 run), Colin Tenney (WP, 4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K).
Hatboro-Horsham: Cole Incudine (2-for-3, 3B, 1 R), Chase Canney (2-for-3)
Key Inning: Top of the 7th: Trailing 3-2, Gerry Stanziola and Logan Niewoehner had back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. The tying run scored on a sac fly by Nick DePiero, Anthony Pellegrini later had a bunt RBI single, and after a walk to Brady Martin, Cole Reich belted a three-run homer to cap off the scoring.
Quakertown coach Jon Pallone: “Freshman Carter Tucholski got us off to a good start with a solo shot in the first inning. That was big. We knew runs would be hard to come by with Jamie O’Neill on the mound for them. He’s been a great pitcher for them the past few seasons.
“We have to be strategic with our pitch counts because we have a lot of games to make up. At the same time, there’s no guarantee tomorrow isn’t a rain out, so we have to play for today. We’re most concerned with our players’ health, so we follow MLB PitchSmart which is more restrictive than PIAA pitch count rules.”
Up Next: Quakertown (3-1, 2-0 SOL) hosts Hatboro-Horsham (3-5, 2-2) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Upper Moreland 3, Cheltenham 2
A single with the bases loaded by Colson Campbell gave Upper Moreland the exciting come-from-behind win over visiting Cheltenham on Tuesday, as the Golden Bears remained unbeaten atop of the Freedom Division standings.
By the Numbers: UM: Colson Campbell (2-for-4, 2 RBIs, 1 run), Darsney (1 RBI), Nick Simons (5 2/3 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K), Cannon Campbell (WP, 1 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K)
Cheltenham: Finn Kopp (6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 6 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 7th: Trailing 2-1, Chase Moore led off with a walk for the Bears, Jackson Townsend walked, and Pat Kilgus was intentionally walked to load the bases. Colson Campbell made them pay with the two-RBI single to left field.
UM coach Jim Fasano: “Firstly, we got a lot of rain over the last few days and a huge thank you and shout out to both our awesome AD and incredible grounds guy, Kyle McGrath. We won’t hold it against Kyle that he’s an H-H grad and the head soccer coach there now. Kyle and I were also high school teammates at H-H. Both of them prioritized getting this game in and we and I are truly grateful.
“Junior Nick Simons had a rough first inning and some bad luck, but after giving up two in the first held Cheltenham without a run for the remainder of his 5.2 innings. We named him a captain this year and his emotional maturity has been a pleasure to watch. Nobody anywhere works harder or cares more than Squirrel (Simons).”
–Campbell connection: “Freshman Cannon Campbell threw 1.1 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his first varsity win and his big brother, Colson, had a walk-off two-run single in the seventh. Tremendous family and kids, Colson is a 1,000- point scorer in basketball and will go down as one of the best athletes in UM history. Both of those guys have ice in their veins and are unaffected by big moments.”
–Team-first mentality: “We successfully executed four sacrifice bunts today, which speaks to our guys’ team-first mentality. We need to continue to improve our situational hitting and will do so. It’s a great group of kids and I am fortunate to be able to coach them. Another big one tomorrow.”
–Props to the Panthers: “Cheltenham’s starter, Finn Kopp, is one of the best pitchers in our area and he was tough to hit, as always. I think we’ve scored one run off him in three years. Thankfully, we won’t have to face him again until next spring.
“Cheltenham’s new coaching staff, led by Lukas Nakkula and Kieran Versaw-Barnes, are baseball guys, and it showed with how prepared they were for us. The next two games will be a big challenge, but it’s nice to get the first win out of the way.”
Up Next: Upper Moreland (5-3, 4-0 SOL) plays at Cheltenham (1-3, 0-3) in a rematch on Wednesday.

William Tennent 16, New Hope-Solebury 1
Eight runs in the first inning and 16 runs on 13 hits were plenty for William Tennent, which overwhelmed New Hope as the Panthers won the first of three against the Lions, and their first Freedom Division victory of the season.
“Given the challenging stretch we’ve had over the past two weeks and the weather conditions today, I am extremely proud of how the team performed in Game 1 (against New Hope),” said Tennent coach Lucas Denzi.
By the Numbers: Tennent: Cody Devor (3-for-4, 3 RBIs, 1 run), Jordan Lawson (3-for-3, 3 RBIs, 3 runs), AJ Foulds (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 3 runs), Luke Torok (triple, 2 RBIs, 1 run), Mike Woehr (WP, 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K).

Tennent coach Lucas Denzi: “We were led by an outstanding pitching performance from Mike Woehr, who needed just 36 pitches to secure the win.
“Offensively, we’ve been challenging the boys to be more aggressive, and they responded well. Even our outs today were the result of quality at-bats, as the team did a great job of putting the ball in play and advancing runners.
“It’s great to get our first league win under our belt, and I hope it gives the players some confidence heading into Game 2 tomorrow.”
