PENNRIDGE 15, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 6
In a key conference battle, the visiting Rams had the better of play, opening up a 5-3 lead after one quarter and then seizing complete control of the game with a 6-0 second quarter surge to go into halftime with an 11-3 lead.
Leah Verespy’s five-point game included four goals – including the 100th of her career – and one assist. Taylor Burkett added four goals, and Madigan Posey also had a five-point game with three goals and two assists.
By the numbers: Pennridge: Leah Verespy (4 goals, 1 assist, 5 DC, 3 GB, 1 CTO), Taylor Burkett (4 goals, 3 DC, 2 GB, 2 CTO), Madigan Posey (3 goals, 2 assists, 3 DC, 1 GB, 1 CTO), Cayla Wurz (2 goals, 1 assist, 2 GB), Julia Lenox (2 GB, 4 CTO), Makena Charles (2 CTO), Colbie Landherr (2 GB, 1CTO)
Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski: “The Rams are 5-0 in the league after a win against CR North today. Another great game for Pennridge as we had tons of points and offensive action as well as great
defensive play. Leah Verespy hit her 100th career goal, and we celebrated this milestone and great win.”
–First half: “We were very locked in today, and you could tell from the first whistle. We did have some adjustments to the grass field and strong winds, but after a few minutes, we looked good. It was very fitting for Leah Verespy to start the scoring for the Rams today off a drive, as she notched her 98th goal five minutes in. The whole team could feel the excitement already. The next to score was Madigan Posey off an 8m goal, followed by another quick look to cage with a pass from Madigan to Cayla Wurz for her first. Madigan stayed hot and put up her second of the day 15 seconds later. The last to score for the Rams on the quarter was Taylor Burkett off a drive. We ended the quarter up two and ready for more.
“We had a huge second quarter, and I felt like this team looked unstoppable. Maddy Boyer took charge on a 1v1 to get to the back of the net for her first and only of the game. Taylor Burkett was next to put up her second just 10 seconds later off a fast break from a draw control. Aubrey Bailey was next and found the net from a Leah Verespy assist. Cayla Wurz was back in the action and found a lane for a drive and her second. Madigan Posey, right on cue, completed her hat trick off an 8m. This is Madigan’s seventh hat trick of the season. She blows me away with her talent and scoring ability on the field. Madigan is our leading goal scorer, but also our top assister, she has just been incredible all season, making plays everywhere she is on the field. Last to score on the half was Taylor Burkett from a Madi Posey assist. She completed her first half hat trick too, and hits her fourth of the season, all within the past five games.”
–Second half: “Going into the second, it was no secret eyes were on Leah. Her team was looking for her, I was looking for her, we were ready to watch her hit 100, and I would say we might have focused too much on it at the point. I always say to my team – ‘If you force it, we get stuck, just do your thing and play our game, the flashy shots and goals will always come.’ Leah hit the back of the net five minutes into the half and notched goal 99. Taylor Burkett was the only other goal of the quarter and hit her fourth and final of the day off a Cayla Wurz assist.
“Leah Verespy’s 100th goal came less than one minute into the fourth quarter. The team ran to celebrate with her, and I called a timeout, so the erupting bench could join in the celebration. It was an amazing moment for Leah, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional in the moment too. Milestones like these don’t come easy, and especially on this team where there is so much talent year after year. Leah has shown leadership, growth, focus, and dedication throughout her years on this team. To see her hit 100, and hit it first means a lot. I remember when Leah was just a little youth player at Deep Run cheering on the High School team, and to be her coach in her final season and with her in that moment today was incredible. I’m so proud to be her coach. Leah was not done at 100 and hit 101 just a few minutes later with what I would say was her best shot of the game.”
–Overview: “Overall, today was fun, we stuck to the game plan and walked away with the biggest accomplishment of it all, another league win. We had a few shaky mid-season games lately, but this one felt back to normal, dominant and well executed. We all left the field today with smiles and sighs of relief. We are focused on one thing right now, and that is coming away this season with another league title under our belt. Everything we do is centered around it. We talk about it every day, and that’s how I believe great teams hit their goals – they make their goals the standard. We look forward to our game vs. Pennsbury next week.”
Up next: Pennridge (10-1, 5-0 SOL) will travel to Pennsbury on Monday, and Council Rock North (7-2, 3-1) will host Council Rock South on Wednesday.

The Trojans, who led by two after one quarter, took a 9-5 lead into halftime but saw their lead trimmed to just one heading into the fourth quarter, 10-9. They closed out the game strong, outscoring their visitors 5-1 to earn their ninth win without a loss.
Alexa McCabe’s six-point game led the Trojans and included five goals and an assist. Emma Greenberg had a five-point game with a goal and four assists.
Camryn Brundage’s four-goal effort led the Golden Hawks.
By the numbers: Wissahickon: Alexa McCabe (5 goals, 1 assist), Lila Marciniak (3 goals, 1 assists, 4 DC, 3 GB), Emma Greenberg (1 goal, 4 assists, 4 DC), Sam Farno (3 goal, 1 assist, 1 CTO), Sophia Stehlik (2 goals, 1 assist, 4 DC, 1GB), Maddie Radell (1 goal, 1 GB), Ava Fell (5 saves)
Council Rock South: Kelly Longmore (2 goals), Camryn Brundage (4 goals), Liz Hearn (1 goal), Mia Schink (2 assists), Mia Geneles (3 goals, 2assists)
Wissahickon coach Chuck Wurzbach: “CR South brought a lot of energy to the game today, and they were able to make some adjustments during the game that swung momentum in their favor. Camryn Brundage was excellent today and we had a really hard to trying to stop her. I know that team is young and will only get better in the coming seasons.
“Coming out of halftime, we struggled with winning the draw, and they were on offense for most of the third period. During the break before the start of the fourth quarter, Emma Greenberg and Sophia Stehlik spoke to the team, and I think that really got them fired up to start the fourth quarter. We were able to win the draws for the rest of the game, build a lead, maintain possession and run the clock out. Lila Marciniak had two big goals, and Lex McCabe did as well. Throughout the game, there was some big saves by Ava Fell, and our defense was able to cause some timely turnovers. This was a good game for us.”
Up next: Wissahickon (9-0, 5-0 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham on Wednesday, and Council Rock South (6-3, 3-1) will travel down the road to take on sister school Council Rock North on Wednesday.
