CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 4, ABINGTON 2
Ethan Weiss earned the complete game win in Monday’s non-league game, allowing just four hits and two runs while striking out five and walking three in seven innings.
The Patriots needed a late rally to earn the win, scoring a pair of runs in the sixth inning to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead. They added an insurance run in the seventh.
In the pivotal sixth inning, Nick Bitsko led off with a single, and Jake Quillen drew a base on balls. A fielder’s choice erased Quillen, but the Patriots still had runners on the corners. A single by Andrew Whinney plated Bitsko, and the Patriots had a lead they would not lose when Cole Allen delivered an RBI double.
In the seventh, Adam Zortea, who singled, scored on a steal of home for the 4-2 final.
Zortea’s 2-for-2 day at the plate led the Patriots, who collected just five hits off a trio of Abington hurlers.
Stephen Vogl’s two-run single in the first spotted the Ghosts a 2-0 lead. They did not score the rest of the way and managed just two hits off Weiss over the final six innings. Weiss retired 10 in a row during a stretch midway through the game.
Bobby Curry absorbed the loss for the Ghosts, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned) in 4.1 innings on the mound. He struck out two and walked one.
Central Bucks East (6-6, 2-4 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Tuesday, and Abington (3-9, 2-6) will host Springfield Township on Tuesday.

OWEN J. ROBERTS 4, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3
The Bucks took a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning of Monday’s non-league contest, but the visiting Wildcats scored a single run in the top of the fifth and won it with three more in the seventh.
Things looked promising when the Bucks opened up a 2-0 lead in the first. With one out, Rhys Nicholas doubled to left, and he scored on Matt McCarthy’s RBI single. Luke Nitschke followed with a run-scoring single to spot the Bucks their early lead.
That lead grew to 3-0 in the fourth, thanks to back-to-back-to-back singles to open the inning by Jack Fileppo, Sam Tierney and Ryan Rudek (RBI).
Will Matteson (two strikeouts) threw a scoreless inning to open the game, and Gene McGough followed with 2.1 scoreless frames. Nate Bash also threw a scoreless inning for the Bucks.
Central Bucks West (5-6, 2-4 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks East on Tuesday.

ST. JOSEPH’S PREP 7, WISSAHICKON 5 (9 innings)
After plating three runs in the first and two more in the fourth, the visiting Hawks appeared to be in command, but the Trojans mounted an impressive comeback in Monday’s non-league game. It began with a three-run fifth.
Brian Hynes led off the inning with a single, and one out later Eddie Fortescue singled. A walk to Jackson Tappen loaded the bases, setting the stage for a two-run single by Shane Walsh. Andrew Booth singled to keep the inning alive, and a single by Seth Floyd plated the third run.
In the fifth, the Trojans added a run on Tappen’s sacrifice fly, and the score was deadlocked when Booth, who doubled, scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Keys in the sixth.
That would be the extent of the scoring for the Trojans, who used a trio of pitchers in the contest.
Fortescue (2-for-4, run) and Booth (2-for-3, 2B, run) led the Trojans’ eight-hit attack.
Wissahickon (4-6, 3-4 SOL) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Tuesday.

UPPER MORELAND 7, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 4
Gianna Fiorenza smashed a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, breaking a 3-3 tie and giving the Golden Bears a lead they would not lose in Monday’s non-league contest. Jenna Sadowski, who singled, scored on Fiorenza’s blast.
For good measure, Bean Hughes ripped a two-run home run in the sixth inning, plating Jocie Baumeister, who had singled, and giving the Golden Bears their final margin of victory.
Earlier, the Golden Bears took a 2-0 lead in the first. Jackie Martino contributed an RBI single in the frame. In the second, Baumeister’s RBI single put UM on top 3-1 only to watch the Crusaders plate a pair in the third to knot the score.
Baumeister (2-for-4), Sadowski (2-for-4) and Hughes (2-for-2, HR, 2 BB) led the Golden Bears at the plate.
Sadowski earned the complete game win.
“(LC) has a good squad again – they have good hitters up and down their lineup,” coach Scott Ludlow said. “We did some little things early and got two big hits late and got really solid pitching.
“It was a really good win for us, especially coming off that Truman game last Thursday (a 14-5 loss) where we had to turn things around a bit. We didn’t start the Easter Break off well, but we finished it well.”
Upper Moreland (7-3, 5-0 SOL) will host Cheltenham on Tuesday.
