SOL Freedom Division
William Tennent 46, Upper Moreland 45
In one of the biggest upsets of the season in the SOL, Tennent went on the road and knocked off Upper Moreland by one, jumping up early and hanging on for the victory in Freedom Division action on Tuesday night.
Evan Eiler had a huge night for the Panthers, hitting five 3-pointers on the way to a 22-point game.
Key Players: Aside from Eiler, Tre Stracuzzi had 14 for Tennent.
Upper Moreland was led by Cannon Campbell with 15 and Jose Hernandez with 14.
Tennent coach Robert Mulville:
“We came out hot in the first quarter; Evan Eiler got some open looks and actually hit some shots with guys in his face. Then they made a good run in the second quarter; we had it in first, they in second, and from there it was tight the whole way. I don’t know if either team had more than a three or five-point lead the rest of the game.”
–Late-game heroics: “We had three really good defensive stops. We were down three with a minute and a half left. Tre Stracuzzi tapped and poked the ball loose, Braden Goldberg tapped it to Ayden Davis-Carter (for a basket) and that got us within one. Then with about 25 seconds, Tre Stracuzzi again, read the defender – it wasn’t even his kid – popped it loose, went down and got a layup to put us up one.
“Fourteen seconds left, they called timeout under their basket. We zoned them up, a kid got in lane, we kind of collapsed on him, Ayden in middle, guards went back. They only got one shot off, and we won the game.
“Stracuzzi is more well known for offense than defense, but he a had a tremendous second half.”

Springfield Twp 84, New Hope-Solebury 46
This one was close for a quarter, but in the end, Springfield had too much firepower for visiting New Hope-Solebury as the Spartans scored a season-high 84 points in a rout of the Lions.
Springfield led 16-15 after one quarter, but followed that up with 28 in the second quarter to up its lead to 44-29.
Key Players: Clay Trejbrowski had a huge night for the Spartans with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Cahlin Spearman had 15 points. Julian Ciasullo had 11 points – 8 in the 28-point second quarter and all 11 in the first half. He also four rebounds and four assists.
Rocco Massimino led New Hope with 14 points.
Springfield coach Mike DeCandido:
“It was a good team win for us tonight. We started off the game a little slow, and credit to New Hope because they came out ready to go. But we picked it up towards the end of the (first) quarter. We had a great team talk at the end of the first quarter and our guys responded really well with a 28-point second quarter. That set the tone for us moving forward.
“We pressed really well tonight. Our guards forced a lot of turnovers that translated to layups. We kept making the extra pass and played unselfish basketball in transition. I give a lot of credit to our guards for playing with their heads up and looking for the open man. “
–Props: Will McLaughlin was our player of the game because of the intangibles. He is always locked in at the start of games and plays with a very high motor. He helps push everyone around him to be the best version of themselves. He will go out there and lead the team in deflections, steals, and assists, while also always lifting his teammates up.
“Clay Trejbrowski and AJ Cooper were great off the bench tonight. Clay was not only shooting well, but it was probably one of his best defensive games of the season. He was forcing turnovers and attacking the basket. Having that on top of his shooting really gives us a boost. AJ had quality minutes as well. He was ready when his name was called tonight and made an immediate impact. He hit a 3, made the extra pass in transition for a layup, and played relentless defense. It’s always great to see guys rise to the occasion when their name is called.”

The second quarter was a huge one for Cheltenham as the Panthers scored 27 points to blow the game wide open on the way to the 38-point win over the visiting Lions.
Ten different players made the scorebook for Cheltenham, which was led by Elijah Saintildor with 13 points. Jaden Mosley and Tyree Martin had nine points each.

SOL Liberty Division
Upper Dublin 66, Wissahickon 52
After a loss to Wissahickon back in December, Upper Dublin went on the road Tuesday with one thing in mind and that was a pay-back victory. It was hairy for a half, but a dominant second half lifted the Cardinals to the 66-52 win.
UD outscored Wissahickon 38-17 in the second half.
“The boys have been saying January 20th just randomly for a while,” said Cardinals coach Derek Brooks. “At first, I didn’t realize what they were saying, and then I realized, ‘Oh, that’s the day we play Wiss again.'”
Key Players: UD was led by Kobe Bazemore with 20 – 9 in the first quarter, Noah Cohen with 13 – 3 3-pointers in the 23-point third quarter, Justin Ragsdlae with 12 and Horace Jackson with 12.
Nico Vacchiano scored 22 for Wissahickon.
Upper Dublin coach Derek Brooks:
–The game: “The score doesn’t do justice to what the game was like because it was much closer than that throughout. It’s this age-old rivalry, and it’s always a fun environment against them. They have an awesome gym. It’s somewhere we’ve struggled in the past. We haven’t had some of our best games there. We’re just always happy to pull out a win there. It feels more like relief than it does elation.
“I give all the credit to Wiss because I thought they wanted it more that day we played them the first game.
“This game did not get off to a great start for us. We were down 16-9 early, and I give Wiss a ton of credit. They came out firing. They hit four 3s very early. I took a timeout when it was 16-9. I actually did not think our energy was where it needed to be to start the game. I thought we were slightly tentative.
“Fortunately, we snapped out of it. We had a good first quarter offensively. We got 15 points. We just needed to slow them down defensively a little bit more. Fortunately, we did in the second quarter – we held them to nine, but it was a game of runs back and forth. They built the lead, then we took the lead.
“We got it to 10 early in the second half, and then it was just back and forth the whole time. They’d make a run, we’d make a run. We had an 11-point lead going into the fourth, and they started off the quarter with two 3s, so I took a timeout.
“Fortunately, we responded with a 5-0 after that, and they weren’t able to get any closer from there. We were able to pull away.”
–Props: “Kobe Bazemore was fantastic. He had 20 points for us tonight. He was 8-for-8 from the field and had a huge game against our rival. He played good defense. I don’t have the assists and steals numbers, but he always produces there. He was great. He’s not normally known as a shooter but hit three big 3s for us this game.
“I thought Justin Ragsdale was pretty steady throughout the game, just chipped in here and there. Noah Cohen had a huge start of the second half to get us going – he had three 3s in that third quarter, and I thought Horace Jackson stepped up with a big second half as well.
“I thought our bench was huge for us. I don’t have the plus-minus numbers, but I would imagine they were a plus-five, plus-10 when they were in the game. They gave us a huge lift. It was Jake Scherzer, Luke Caron and Benji Ravitz, who didn’t record a point, but I thought his stint in the first half gave us a lift as well.”
–Tip of the hat to Vacchiano: “I’ve competed against Nico Vacchiano and his brother for four years, and Nico is just such a competitor. He deserves all the credit. He was a huge reason why they beat us the first time. He gave everything he could tonight to compete. I want to tip my cap to him. He’s one of those guys where I’m going to miss competing against him, but I’m also going to be thrilled I don’t have to coach against him again because he’s a heck of a player, and it’s been fun going against him the last couple of years.”

A 22-point first quarter gave Abington the early boost and it led throughout in a 70-41 rout of host Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday night.
The Galloping Ghosts led 22-7 after one and 40-20 at halftime. Faison Garland jumpstarted the Ghosts with nine first-quarter points.
Key Players: Eleven different players scored for Abington, led by Kyler Pickron with 13 and 10 each for Xavier Grasty and Faison Garland.
MJ Thompson had 10 for H-H.

Mani Sajid scored 22 points, as PW wasted little time on the road and put Quakertown away early for the 87-14 rout on Tuesday.
The Colonials – sparked by 15 points from Sajid – led this game 34-2 after one quarter and 52-6 at halftime.
Eric Conicello and Michael Pereira both added 10 points for the Colonials.

The second time around was a different story for Council Rock South, which avenged a December loss to the Redskins, going on the road to knock off Neshaminy 63-55.
The Golden Hawks went 10-for-12 from the free throw line to put the game away.
Key Players: CR South was led by Ryan Delp with 16 points, and Joey Madara with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
CR South coach Jim Cassidy:
–The game: “Neshaminy has been a really tough road test for us for the past few years. I’m so proud of my entire group tonight as it took all of us. Our first matchup with them was a double OT loss. I think that we’ve really grown and learned from some of those early games that didn’t go our way. All the credit goes to the kids, but we have plenty more work to do.
“I told our guys before the game that I really thought we would play 9-10 guys in this one and sure enough 10 different players gave us minutes tonight.”
–Props: “We’ve had a really hard time with (Neshaminy’s Marlon) Yon this season, but we switched Joey Madara on to him in the second half and Joey played him to a standstill. Madara ended up with 15 (points) and 13 rebounds, he’s all heart and as tough as they come.
“Ryan Delp gave us 16, was clutch at the line late. It was the kind of senior performance you need to beat a team like Neshaminy in their place. And getting Brian Bondiskey back from injury has really given us a jolt off the bench. He’s an extra scorer and ballhandler which is key when you’re taking on quality guards like those on Neshaminy. Patrick Malone is another guy that is all heart and toughness, he gave us huge minutes and drilled a really big 3 late in the fourth.”
Up next: Neshaminy will travel to Council Rock North on Friday, and Council Rock South will be on the road at Bristol for a non-league game Wednesday.

Back in Patriot Division play, Pennsbury had a game it knew was going to be a challenge, going to rival Harry S. Truman for the second of two between the two teams.
And this one was rough too, as the Falcons trailed at halftime before turning it on in the second half to pull away down the stretch for the 12-point win.
Key Players: Pennsbury was led by Patrick Jajua with 18 points, while Brayden Clark added 16.
Davae Vaughn scored 15 for Truman.

“At the beginning of the season, I thought Truman was going to be one of our tougher opponents. They’re athletic, they 
have two guards with Davae Vaughn and Jaden Luchansky who are very good. And they gave us everything we could handle tonight before we pulled away at the start of the fourth quarter.”
–The fourth quarter: “I think it was more about us guarding them, probably where we saw the biggest challenge. Offensively, I don’t think they wanted to go up and down. The plan was they’re going to play methodical, 30 or 40-second possessions to shorten the game. It was eerily similar to the game we played there last year. It took us a little while to get our offensive game going.
“Second time thru is much more of a chess match – this is how we played them the first time; this is how we were playing, we played them a little different than first time. You have to have the ability to adapt. I expect everybody to play a little bit different; I thought they’d play us
more zone, but they didn’t and that caught us off guard a little bit.”

North Penn 54, Central Bucks West 35
On its Senior Night, North Penn made it five wins in its last seven games, building a double figure lead on CB West on the way to the 54-35 victory at home on Tuesday.
The Knights led 13-5 after one and 22-11 at halftime. The win avenged a 58-54 loss to West in December.
Key Players: North Penn was led by JC Wood with 23 points, which included 11 points – and 3 3-pointers – in the first quarter to spark the Knights.
Connor Chuo had 10 for CB West.
North Penn coach Cordell Lord:
–The game: “The boys played really hard tonight, and it was just a great overall team win. We got off to a really good start – a lot of energy was there because it was Senior Night, and we showed love to our five seniors.
“Roman Smyth is a senior who doesn’t play as much but is a great teammate, great energy guy. We loved having him part of the program, and he got his first start tonight along with Wyatt Martin, Chris Kingkiner, Nolen Foust and JC Wood. Our five seniors started tonight, and they did a phenomenal job to start the game and set the tone off on a great note.
“We just continued to battle. We made West take a lot of shots that we specifically wanted. They had some good looks that they just didn’t convert, but overall tonight, we did a really good job executing the game plan, playing our pace and not letting them speed us up.”
–Props: “JC Wood led the team tonight in scoring with 23 points. He shot the ball extremely well, and he had five more 3s today. He’s shooting the ball extremely well.
“Aiden Thomas was a big spark for us. He’s normally a starter, but since it was Senior Night, he came off the bench tonight and had a really good game, scoring nine for us.
“Wyatt Martin was a monster tonight, especially on the boards and protecting the paint and pulling down a bunch of rebounds, and then everybody else just had spots where they came in the game and were effective for us and made plays. It was just a really good overall team win.”

A big first quarter gave Souderton all the boost it would need, as the Indians led by 12 after one and 15 at halftime, on the way to the 23-point win over neighborhood rival, Pennridge, on Tuesday night.
Senior Nate Rusike had a huge night for Souderton with a game-high 24, including four 3-pointers. As a team, the Indians hit 12 3-pointers total.
Key Players: Aside from Rusike’s 24, Chanse Salone, Marques Brown and Koby Rollerson had 11 points each for Souderton.
Pennridge was led by Rownan Smith with 11.
Souderton coach Brendan Stanton:
“We came out with good defensive energy tonight, which was a focus after letting them take it to us early the last time we played. In the first quarter, we matched their physicality and set the tone. Offensively, I was pleased with our ball movement. We did a nice job making the extra pass when we drew help. I think we had seven guys knock down 3s tonight. That only happens if you are making good decisions with the ball.
–Props: “Chanse Salone stood out with eight first-half assists. He gets a lot of praise for his scoring, but he’s a really special passer. He led the way for us with his unselfishness. Koby Rollerson gave us a big lift on the glass, playing as a small-ball big and helping us push the pace in transition. Will Lockwood, who is the heart of our team, brought his usual defensive spark while also knocking down shots with confidence.
“We also had steady contributions from Nate Rusike, Marques Brown, and Levi Epps – (they) shot the ball well, defended, and played their games. Overall, it was a well-balanced effort.”

Back on December 9, CB South went to rival CB East and lost by six. Quite a bit has changed since then, and the Titans were excited to prove that and did so with a resounding 63-46 victory at home Tuesday night.
CB South led this one 32-15 at halftime.
Key Players: Davis Van Zanten had 16 to lead CB South. Alex Shahin and Koyote Adebayo added 10 points each.
CB East was led by Henry Bartchak with 15, and Keegan Marascio and Quinn Slack with 10 points each.
CB South coach Louie Ditri:
“I thought the kids were focused and prepared; they were very prepared for tonight’s game. We had a tough one first time around at their place, so they were focused. Our first-half defense locked down on their shooters, they’re great shooters as we all know.
“Davis Van Zanten had a nice first half with points, played (Keegan Marascio), held him to 10 for the game, only four points in the first half; he got our offense going.
“We were able to build a lead in the fourth quarter, but as good as they are, they cut it to 9 late in the third. But we pulled away at the end with better defense and transition buckets.”

The Patriots led 13-9 after one quarter and extended that to 25-15 by halftime on their way to the non-league win.
Key players: Keegan Marascio’s 18 points included a 10-for-11 effort at the foul line. He also had four rebounds. Connor Mekanik added 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. Henry Bartchuk had 13 points, seven assists, four rebounds and 2 steals. Alex Lemaire added four rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots.

The game: “We went on the road and won an important game for us as we head into our final five conference games of the season.
“We were able to get up 10 at half. Every time it seemed like we might stretch that lead to put the game away, Notre Dame made a push. They really played hard and kept coming but we were able to keep a decent lead throughout the second half.
“As a program, we are trying to get healthy and have sickness and some injuries we are dealing with. It seems like we are heading in the right direction.
“The stretch run is here. Our division is up for grabs, and we’ve seen everyone is capable of beating one another. It should be an exciting two weeks to wrap up the regular season.”
–Props: “Marascio, Barchak and Mekanik were great. They collectively seemed to have a hold of the game.
“Alex Lemaire returned from over a week out and gave us a spark. Quinn Slack was able to give us some good minutes as he is coming back from over a week out sick.”
