Non-league
UPPER DUBLIN 12, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 8
The Flying Cardinals, who led 3-1 after one quarter, took a 6-3 lead into halftime, but the Bucks refused to go away in Wednesday’s non-league game.
“We were leading most of the game, and every time we tried to pull away, they would score a goal or two,” UD coach Pat Lacon said. “We would start to pull away, and they would creep back in again.
Vijay Foster led the Flying Cardinals with four goals, and Brett Rama contributed three goals and one assist. Andrew Sowers also had a hat trick while Caleb Kelly and Stevie Pileggi both had one goal.
“Offensively tonight, we played much stronger as a unit,” Lacon said. “That was led by the upperclassmen between Andrew Sowers, Brett Rama and Vijay Foster. Those guys as juniors and seniors really led the way, not just with goal scoring but just being able to control the offense.”
The Cardinals’ coach had high praise for the play of Justinus Park.
“He’s a face-off guy, and in the second half, he really battled and won some pivotal face-offs,” Lacon said.
Jeff Woosnam had a big game for the Bucks, scoring four goals and assisting on another. Matt Jacobsen added a pair of goals while Brayden Albrecht and Connor Albrecht each had single goals. Austin Hahn dished off an assist.
UD goalie Nate Fechter was credited with seven saves in the win. West’s Evan Hee recorded 10 saves.
Upper Dublin (2-1) will travel to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy on Wednesday for a non-league game. Central Bucks West (0-2) will be on the road at Souderton for Tuesday’s SOL opener at 7 p.m.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 19, ABINGTON 3
Luke Walstrum had himself a career day Wednesday, and even that might be understating a performance that figures to go in the record books at Rock North. The Penn State bound senior scored 12 goals and assisted on four others – in other words, he had a hand in 16 goals, and that was just one small piece of it. “I’ve been coaching for 20 years, and I never saw a performance like that,” Rock North coach John Fitzpatrick said. “He did it naturally, running the offense, causing turnovers. He never forced anything.
“My assistant turned to me and said, ‘He had 12 goals.’ I said, ‘You’re kidding, right?’”
Fitzpatrick’s assistant wasn’t kidding. Walstrum was nothing short of brilliant.
Teammate Dean Scalamandre had a big day of his own, connecting for a hat trick and dishing out six assists. Freshman Andrew Zazoff added three goals and two assists while Sammy Lewis had one goal.
Zane Moore also turned in a dominant effort at the face-off X, winning 13 of 16 face-offs.

“The whole team played well,” Fitzpatrick said.
