PENNSBURY 7, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 6 (OT)
With time winding down in regulation, the Falcons found themselves on the short end of a 6-5 score, but a goal by Ryan DeZutel knotted the score with less than two minutes remaining
“It was a nice shot to the top corner,” coach Drew Artin said of the equalizer.
Riding the momentum of DeZutel’s late goal, the Falcons won it early in overtime on a goal by senior Nick Sutton.
“It was off our first possession,” Artin said. “Jake Krefetz had a really strong day at X, and he won the face-off.
“We were bobbling back and forth with a ground ball. We got our attacks involved, our wings involved. We picked up the ground ball, moved it around and got a great shot off by Nick Sutton. He finished and we walked off with the win.
“From a coaching perspective, there are definitely areas we need to improve on to not put us in this situation, but I’m proud of the effort that the boys had today and really happy that we were able to pull out the win.”
Krefetz was a difference maker at the X, winning 10-of-13 face-offs. He also scooped up five ground balls.
“Jake’s had a strong season for us so far,” Artin said. “He still has areas he can improve, but he’s the kind of guy that wants to get better every day.”
Will Anderson paced the Falcons’ attack with three goals and one assist.
“Will Anderson has really stepped up into an offensive leadership role and is just an on-the-field leader for our team,” Artin said. “I’m really happy to see him from coming up as a very quiet kid to being one of the more vocal guys, so it’s really cool to see him grow.”
Shane Siegmund and Gavin Fleming both added a goal. Charlie Nuschke chipped in an assist and seven ground balls. Bryse Raniello and Sheehan Miles also had seven ground balls each.
“Sheehan Miles played well early in the game – he was really aggressive, got a lot of ground balls and helped push transition for us early on,” Artin said. “He’s been a bright spot for us all year.
“Charlie Nuschke continues to be a great defensive force for us, and Bryce Raniello has really been a sparkplug and ignites our defense and our offense. He brings a lot of intensity to everything he does. He’s a big playmaker for us. He plays defense, and he’s a threat to do anything on the field for us, so it’s great to have him.”
Luke Nolan recorded seven saves in goal for the Falcons.
“Our goalie made some fantastic saves, good momentum saves for us,” Artin said.
The Falcons took a 4-1 lead into halftime only to watch the Vikings hold a 4-1 edge in the third period to knot the score 5-5 heading into the final frame. The Falcons found a way to tie it with time winding down and won it in OT.
“Just the hustle and the hard work the boys are doing this year – we’re definitely a faceless team for the first time in Pennsbury history, at least since I’ve been here, but this group of boys goes to war every day, and I’m really proud of them,” Artin said.
Pennsbury (3-2, 0-1 SOL) will travel to Hatboro-Horsham for a non-league game on Wednesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 7, HOLY GHOST PREP 6
CB South traveled to Holy Ghost Prep, and as usual, it was a tightly played contest.
The Titans were down 4-1 at the half but found a way to come back in a thrilling second half. CB South put three goals on the board in the third quarter while blanking the Ghosts. In the final quarter, CB South had a 6-4 edge, but Holy Ghost battled back to tie the game with four minutes remaining. The two teams traded possession with the Titans’ Austin Novick finding the back of the net with 40 seconds remaining in the game.
Tyler Horvath, who dominated at the face-off X, was 15 of 15 for the day and won the final face-off to seal the victory for the Titans. He also had a team-high 11 ground balls.
CB South standouts on defense were Max Montrose, Jason Christianson, Jon Robinson Matt McDonald, Christian Manibo and goalie Colin Bernstein, who recorded eight saves and also scooped up a ground ball.
CB South’s offense was once again balanced with five players scoring goals. Austin Novick, Colin Abbonizio and Dylan Grosso each had two goals and one assist. Jack Cenci added one goal. Grosso and Cenci each had a ground ball. Angus Ballantine added an assist.
Matthew McDonald added three ground balls and one caused turnover. Scooping up one ground ball each were Maxwell Montrose, Christian Manibo and Kian Watkins. Manibo also had a caused turnover.
Central Bucks South (3-1) will travel to Wissahickon Wednesday for a non-league game.

ABINGTON 18, UPPER MORELAND 4
The visiting Ghosts took a 6-3 lead into halftime and then blew the game wide open, outscoring the Golden Bears 12-1 after the intermission.
Nate Rose (four goals, four assists) and Marco McFee (four goals, three assists) led the attack. Alex Woll added two goals and two assists while Shawn McConnell added a goal and two assists. Dominic Ricciardi had two goals. Nevin Baer and Dimitri Sarver each had one goal and one assist. Contributing one goal each were Ray Lin, Kevin Fitzgerald and Pat Fischer.
Abington (4-2, 1-0 SOL) will travel to Upper Dublin for an SOL contest on Thursday.
