SOUDERTON 8, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 6
The Indians expected a battle when they travelled to Council Rock South, and the Golden Hawks did not disappoint, giving the Indians – who led 4-3 at halftime – all they could handle.
Cole Witoslawski – who one day earlier set a program record with eight goals – led the Indians with four goals and one assist. Dylan Anderson added a goal and an assist while Fearghas Evanick, Jalen White and Brock Azeff each added a single goal. Matt Rauch had a pair of assists and Nick Guthre had one helper.
Senior captains Kain Turner and Cole Witoslawski led the team in ground balls. Goalie Axell Beskar recorded 12 saves in another standout effort.
“Senior midfielder Fearghas Evanick, LSM Luke Atiyeh and junior midfielder Nick Guthre were the unsung heroes and players of the game today,” coach Mark Princehorn said. “It was a fantastic effort by them and the entire team.”
Souderton (9-2, 3-1 SOL) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Friday, and Council Rock South (7-4, 3-1) will host Central Bucks West on Friday.
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 14, POPE JOHN PAUL II 6
Brennan Fluehr and Paul Richardson both scored four goals, and Wilson Krewson added a pair as the visiting Spartans rolled to the non-league win.
Contributing one goal each were Trey DuBose, Zach Coppol, Matt Schmidt and Nic Pugliese.
Goalie Paul Asman recorded 13 saves in three quarters of action.
Springfield Township (6-4, 3-1 SOL) will host Holy Ghost Prep for a non-league game Monday.
Tuesday, April 23
ABINGTON 17, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 9
The Ghosts received contributions from up and down their lineup in Tuesday’s conference win over the Colonials.
Nate Rose led a balanced attack with four goals and five assists while Marco McAfee contributed three goals and an assist. Dominic Ricciardi had two goals and an assist while Evan Figueroa and Jake Werner both had two goals. LSM Kevin Fitzgerald had one goal, one assist and five ground balls. Adding one goal each were Dimitri Sarver, Liam Campbell and Alex Woll. Shawn McConnell chipped in an assist.
Abington (7-5, 3-2 SOL) will travel to Pennsbury on Thursday.
