SOL non-league crossover
Pennridge 2, Neshaminy 1
Sam Turco’s two goals were the difference, as Pennridge held off Neshaminy for the big cross-over win on Friday by a 2-1 final score.
Scoring Summary:
Second Half –
Sam Turco (P) from Jace Soto
Sam Turco (P) from Julian Wallick
Zach Hargraves (N)
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapsinski: “We played a really back and forth game. Both teams had some good opportunities in the first half but nothing came of it.
“We started well in the second half, but again it was so back and forth. Credit to (Neshaminy) coach Foley and his group. They are so tough and can really connect at all levels of the field.
We were able to break them down with about 25 mins left in the game to go up 1-0. Jace Soto was able to slip in Sam Turco and he buried it. We went up 2-0 about 10 mins later off another Sam Turco goal. This time it was Julian Wallick who played him in behind.
“Neshaminy battled back and scored with about 6 or 7 mins left to bring it to 2-1. We were able to hold on for the last few mins even though they created a handful of chances.
–Props: “Mike Smith did a great job in goal and made a handful of key saves, including one in the dying seconds of the game.
“I want to shout out Tommy Loughran too. He had a fantastic game in the middle of our back line too.”
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley: “I thought we played a really good first half. We moved the ball really well. We hit the crossbar once. We just have been struggling to find the net.
“In the first 20 minutes, it was more of the same as the first half. When you let a team hang around long enough – they countered one time, and they scored a real nice goal. I was disappointed that we lost our composure for the next five or six minutes, and they managed to score a second goal. It was a big hill to climb.
“We managed to get one back. Zach Hargraves, who was hardworking, stole from one of their backs, and he went in on the keeper and tucked it in with about six minutes to go, but we just couldn’t get the equalizer.
“All in all, it was a good effort soccer-wise on our part, but we just can’t seem to find the net. The first goal was against the run of play, the second goal, we lost our composure and let Pennridge dictate the next seven minutes. Credit to them for taking advantage of us losing our composure a little bit.
“We just made things difficult on ourselves. We’ve got to win some games now. It’s almost like playoff time for us, and we’ve got to start taking care of business. The biggest thing is we’ve got to get a little confidence in finding the net.”
Up Next: Pennridge next plays at Central Bucks East on Tuesday night. Neshaminy plays at Council Rock North on Tuesday.
Pennridge 0 2 – 2
Neshaminy 0 1 – 1
Central Bucks South 5, Upper Dublin 3
In another wild one, Lucas Tyson and Tyler Jaskelewicz scored goals in the second half as CB South prevailed against Upper Dublin in a non-league game Friday by a 5-3 final score.
“We rebounded well after a tough loss on Tuesday,” said Titans coach Ed Brnardic. “We had a slow start scoring goals this season, but we’ve come on recently and now are now starting to find the back of the net more regularly. We will enjoy the weekend before we dive back into divisional play next week.”.jpg)
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Upper Dublin Goal
Nate Monser (CBS) from Josh Dozier
Upper Dublin Goal
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Leo Propato
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Tyler Jaskelewicz
Second half –
Lucas Tyson (CBS) from Tyler Jaskelewicz
Tyler Jaskelewicz (CBS)
CB South coach Ed Brnardic: “The Friday afternoon matchup saw several lead changes. Upper Dublin jumped out to the early lead off a quick throw-in that gave them a semi-breakaway which they finished in the far bottom corner. It didn’t take long for CB South to level the match when AJ Okoniewski made a deep run and found a running Josh Dozier. Josh slid the ball across the box and Nate Monser was there to put it away to tie the match.
“Upper Dublin re-took the lead on a penalty kick and CB South once again responded – this time Leo Propato sent in a cross that found the head of Jackson Tait for the goal. Later in the half CB South took their first lead when Jackson Tait and Tyler Jaskelewicz connected a few passes with each other with Jackson firing the ball into the top corner. Upper Dublin tied the match before halftime.
“In the second half it was all CB South. First Tyler Jaskelewicz found Lucas Tyson making the long run from the back – Lucas got by the Upper Dublin defense, dribbled past the goalie and scored the winning goal. Then, Tyler Jaskelewicz then added the insurance by ripping a free kick into the upper right corner from about 35 yards out to give the Titans the 5-3 road win.”
–Props: “Massive props go to Andriy Popelnytskiy and Nate Monser. We were without our goalkeeper today, so we had to put field players in goal. Andriy and Nate volunteered to split the game, and they did a great job in establishing the tempo.
“We had some other guys banged up but James Fash, Leo Propato and Zach Prest stepped in and played great. Additionally, Alex Otto had a heck of a game in our midfield. Alex has been playing very well and contributing on both ends of the field.”
Up next: Central Bucks South will host North Penn Tuesday (7pm), and Upper Dublin will travel to Abington on Tuesday.

Springfield Twp 3, Great Valley 2
In a match-up between two teams headed to the District One playoffs later this month, Springfield scored twice in the second half to erase a deficit and pick up the big non-league win against visiting Great Valley on Friday. Senior Henry Hasty came off the bench to score the game-winner.
“From a playoff standings perspective, it was a huge game,” said Spartans coach Dan Meder. ”It was a good game. Both teams had chances, and both teams played well. I think both teams knew that going in, so it was really nice to come out on top, because we haven’t done that consistently this year.”
Roman Corcoran and Harry Bates also scored for the Spartans.
Springfield started the day ranked No. 10 in the district power rankings, while Great Valley was No. 11.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Roman Corcoran (S) from Adam DiBattista
Great Valley goal
Great Valley goal
Second Half –
Harry Bates (S) from Roman Corcoran
Henry Hasty (S)
Springfield coach Dan Meder:
–Unlikely hero delivers game winner: “Henry (Hasty) came in off the bench. He only played the last 20 minutes of the game, and he had the game-winning goal. He’s a senior, but he missed all of last year because of an ACL tear, so he’s working himself back into game speed, and he stole it from them and had a beautiful finish from distance.”
–The second half: “We were actually playing fine the whole game. We had generated chances to score in the first half and just didn’t finish them. But we did play much better in the second half. I thought we played with more intensity and moved the ball quicker.”
–Props: “It was a team win. We subbed a bunch of guys, and everyone we played played well and contributed. They just worked hard. The other coach told me after the game – ‘The work rate of your team is amazing.’ They all just worked so hard. They really wanted it.”
Up next: Springfield Twp will be on the road at Lower Moreland Tuesday.
Great Valley 2 0 – 2

Council Rock North varsity assistant Brian Hoffman: “The guys came out after a long week and executed very well against an opponent that played well. They’re going to end up being a good 1A school. They only had 15 guys on a hot day, and there’s only so much that can be done in that regard.
“We were deeper, and we were able to get a bunch of guys playing time that executed just as well as anybody else we put on the field. It was a really good experience for everybody.”
Up next: Council Rock North will host Neshaminy on Tuesday (5pm).
