Second Overtime
Ethan Cruz (CBE), unassisted (3-2)
Central Bucks East coach Josh Isaacsohn: “Kudos to (CB West) coach John Adair and his boys. They were organized and ready to play. Although both teams came out strong, it seemed that we had a bit more energy and passing strings than we have shown early on in games as of recent. This eventually led to a goal in the 19th minute by Ethan Cruz (no assist). Ethan has worked very hard to put himself in the right spots to really give our team a boost.”
On the back-and-forth game: “Early in the second half, Aidan Pasternak scored off of a beautiful flick assist from Nick Bonargo. To their credit, this slight cushion of 2-0 was taken advantage of by West, who came back twice to eventually tie it up in the last 15 minutes. We had a few opportunities to convert a goal that fell just short while continuing to hold West at bay.”
Winning in double-overtime: “With less than 5 minutes left in the second OT, Ethan Cruz connected with his second goal of the night to propel the team to a solid win. I am very proud of how the players responded. They showed a strong work ethic, and it was great to have them see this game through to the very end.”
Props: “Goalkeeper Liam Harding stood very tall on one play in particular and kept us in the game. Also, Dan Frye played an incredibly strong game and proved to everyone that he is the true quarterback of our team.”
Next up: The Patriots (4-3, 2-2 SOL) will look to build on the big win when they host North Penn at 5 pm Tuesday. West (1-5-1, 0-4-0) will visit Pennridge for a 3:30 pm Tuesday game.

Bensalem coach Kevin Bock: “It was a very back-and-forth game. I thought we had a strong first half. We held strong defensively and were able to spring Tejas on a run. He got off a shot which the goalie made a great save on, but Abou was able to put in the rebound.
“We came out strong in the second half. Tejas was able to lay off a ball out wide to Brian, who was able to score on the short side. Holy Ghost continued to work and were able to get two back to send it into overtime.”
On overtime: “Both goalies played outstanding today and each made key saves in overtimes. I felt like we had several opportunities to score more goals but just couldn’t find the net.”
Next up: The Owls (3-3-1, 2-2 SOL) will visit Council Rock South at 3:30 pm Tuesday.

Upper Moreland 8, Interboro 1
Upper Moreland picked up a well-deserved victory with a solid team effort, riding Jackson Townsend’s five-goal game to an 8-1 victory over nonleague opponent Interboro on Friday.
Jacob Snyder picked up his first varsity shutout between the pipes for the Bears.
Scoring Summary
Jackson Townsend – 5 goals
Gabe Hendrickson – 2 goals
Nick Baptista -1 goal
Upper Moreland coach Justin Allegra: “It’s been a tough year. We’ve been taking our licks. We’ve been close in games, but we just haven’t been able to put a full complete game together. So today was probably one of our most complete games from start to finish. We finally finished our chances that in previous games we would not finish, so it was nice to move the ball, play one- and two-touch, ping the ball around and then be able to get some guys in that really don’t see time and hopefully, get scoring from all kinds of guys.
“We’ve been in tight games – we were winning 1-0 against Tennent and ended up losing. We were 2-1 at New Hope, so we were in games but just not being able to put a complete game together. We’ll play one really good half. The issue is we’re winning a half, and they’re winning a half, but they’re scoring more goals in their half. Today we scored in the first two or three minutes and just kept rolling from there.
Props: “I actually started my backup goalie – Jacob Snyder – because my starter was hurt. This was his first shutout. Liam Hawk, my outside mid, and Bobby Barrett, my center back, played very well for us.”
Next up: Upper Moreland will host Lower Moreland at 3:30 pm Tuesday.
Upper Moreland 4-4 8
Interboro 0-1 1
Cheltenham 5, Academy Park 0
Playing its second game in two days, Cheltenham got off to a slow start but dominated the second half and poured in four goals after the break to get back into the win column and roll to a 5-0 victory over Academy Park in Friday’s nonleague game. Jordan Rodriguez scored a hat trick for the Panthers, while Wolf Brown recorded the shutout in goal.
Scoring Summary
Jordan Rodriguez – 3 goals
Chamar Blanchard – 1 goal
Billy Fishman – 1 goal
Cheltenham coach Bill Tonkin: “It wasn’t a great effort. Tough game to recover from last night. We struggled the first half with effort and intensity. I challenged them at halftime to give more effort, and we scored four goals in about 15 minutes, which let me get all of the bench and swing players playing time.”
Next up: Cheltenham (3-2-1, 1-2-1 SOL) will host Springfield Twp at 3:30 pm Tuesday.
Cheltenham 1-4 5
