COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2, PENNSBURY
The Golden Hawks scored a pair of late goals, breaking a scoreless tie and earning the hard-fought win.
George Simon scored a goal that turned out to be the game-winner in the 50thminute, and 10 minutes later, Frankie Rafferty scored with an assist from Reid Vandermark for the 2-0 final.
“We played well today, and I’m very happy after that disappointing game on Wednesday (a 3-2 loss to Central Bucks East),” Rock South coach Alan Nicholl said.
The Golden Hawks’ coach went on to credit the efforts of several players.
“Goalkeeper Evan Zawodniak had the clean sheet and was flawless today, patrolling his box and keeping Pennsbury at bay,” Nicholl said. “Denys Tsinyk played well in the back, disrupting Pennsbury’s attack and distributing with composure.
“We left quite a few chances on the field, so I was happy to see George (Simon) finally get us on the board and secure a well-deserved three points.”
Council Rock South (5-1-1, 4-1-1 SOL) will host Central Bucks West in a crossover game Tuesday, and Pennsbury (2-3-2, 2-2-2) will travel to Pennridge on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.

QUAKERTOWN 2, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1
It took two days a week apart to determine a winner.
On Sept. 8, play was halted due to weather in a scoreless game with 18 seconds remaining in the opening half. When play resumed on Friday, the Hatters took a 1-0 lead in the 47thminute when Anthony Pumilia connected on a penalty kick, but the Panthers battled back.
“We tied the game up with some nice combination play on top of the box that resulted in a shot by Otani Epke that was saved,” Quakertown coach Bill James said. “The rebound fell to Dylan Chauhan, who finished the goal.”
The Panthers took the lead with seven minutes remaining in regulation on a restart.
“Billy Reinoso won an initial head ball, and Carter Tull finished the second header over the keeper’s hands,” James said.
The Panthers’ coach lauded the play of several players in the come-from-behind win.
“Our keeper, Jacob Mosser, played very well and came off his line to make some great saves,” James said. “Billy (Reinoso), Rylan Dauter and Otani (Epke) played great in the middle.
“The whole back line played great, and the whole 40, Dalton Mapes, Jared White, Carter Tull and Jackson Kalinowski. I’m very proud of the guys to come back after going down early.”
Quakertown (2-4, 2-4 SOL) will travel to Springfield Twp for a crossover game on Tuesday, and Hatboro-Horsham (2-4, 2-4) will host Lower Moreland on Tuesday.

WILLIAM TENNENT 4, CALVARY CHRISTIAN 1
The Panthers – deadlocked 1-1 with Calvary Christian at halftime – erupted for three second-half goals to earn the convincing non-league win.
Ryan Black turned a pass from Connor Hanratty into a goal in the 39thminute to knot the score 1-1.
In the second half, Bryce deFonteney scored the go-ahead goal, using a Noah Markowski assist, and then it was Pat Gillespie finding the net with a Tyler Tomlinson assist to put the Panthers on top 3-1. With eight minutes remaining in regulation, deFonteney connected for his second goal to close out the scoring, this time using a Gavin McSherry assist.
“We got a solid game from Tyler Tomlinson, who scored his first goal of the season,” coach Angelo Albanese said. “Noah Markowski also scored his first goal, and Bryce deFonteny had an all-around solid performance.”

FAITH CHRISTIAN 5, PENNRIDGE 2
The visiting Rams found themselves in a 4-1 hole at halftime but played a strong Faith Christian squad even in the second half.
“We battled back really well,” coach Aaron Rapsinski said. “Our second goal came with about seven minutes left in the second half. We gave up a goal with under a minute left when we had some more numbers forward.
“My guys played really well for a good stretch of the game. We just dug a hole we couldn’t get ourselves out of.”
Senior Chase Rabinowitz scored both goals for the Rams.
“Luca Angello busted his butt all night, Pat Fannon busted his butt, and Eddie Jakubowicz, Parker Annan, Chase Rabinowitz in the middle – those guys all worked really, really hard for the entire game, and they did what they could in terms of trying to claw us out of the early hole,” Rapsinski said. “It was just a tough result for how well we played for a big portion of the game. They’re good, and they’re a team to keep your eye on and see how far they can go.”
Pennridge (1-5, 1-4 SOL) will host Pennsbury in a crossover game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Pennridge 1-1 2
Faith Christian 4-1 5
