Bensalem (2-3, 2-3 SOL) will travel to Souderton for a crossover game Monday at 6 p.m.
VILLA MARIA ACADEMY 3, NESHAMINY 0
Villa Maria has been a standard bearer for field hockey in District 1.
The Hurricanes compete at the Class 2A level, but don’t be fooled. This program is bigtime.
For the Redskins, Friday’s non-league game was their fourth in five days, and despite the outcome, coach Jamie Pinto liked her team’s effort.
After a four-game week, we came away with a lot to learn from and build on,” the Redskins’ coach said. “Today the score doesn’t reflect how we played. We played well against a very good Villa Maria Academy team. We fought hard after a long week— I’m proud of how the girls played today.”
The Redskins’ coach credited several players for their efforts.
“Consistently throughout the week and today especially, Ava Arbakov did a nice job in the center of the field,” Pinto said. “She’s a presence both offensively and defensively.
“Today the defense did a great job of stepping up and communicating with each other— Alayna Roscoe, Maddy Shtino, Morgan Shaltens, and goalie Megan Gonzales worked really well together. Claire Saloky stepped up today and Kasey Rieger hustled up top— if we can continue to play like we did today, good things will happen for us.”
Neshaminy (4-2, 3-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks South for a crossover game Monday at 7 p.m.
