SOL Colonial Division
Central Bucks West 1, Souderton 0
Beck Walton’s goal late in the first half held up in the second half as CB West scored the home night-game win over Souderton 1-0 at War Memorial Field on Wednesday night.
Scoring:
First Half –
Beck Walton (CBW) from Michael Rafalowski, 36th minute
CB West coach John Adair:
“As a group before the game, we talked about playing for everyone that supports us. From the parents that work the snack stands and do laundry every night, to the custodians and school staff that stay late to ensure the boys have these great experiences for their games, to the athletic trainers that take care of the players during the absolute grind of a high school season. We wanted to make all of those people proud. I can safely say that we’re all incredibly proud of the boys.
“Frank’s one of the best high school coaches around so every time we play Souderton is a good measuring stick to see where we’re at.
“It wasn’t our best game by any means, but as such a young team, to respond in the manner that they did after a couple of difficult games and missed opportunities is a testament to the character and togetherness of the entire group.”
–Props: “Every player contributed tonight, from starters to subs and the rest of the program that was there to provide energy. We’ve done some shuffling of personnel across our back line this year as we have a lot of young and inexperienced guys, and we’ve just been trying to find the right mix.
“I have to give a massive shoutout to Emad Bokhari who slotted in as a center back today and didn’t put a foot wrong all game. He’s a kid I’ve known for a long time, well before his time at West, and I was so happy for him to shine in that moment.
“Our goal tonight came from Beck Walton, who led the team in scoring last year and is just returning from injury. He’s looking better every game and adds a different dimension to the way that we can attack.
“The assist came from Michael Rafalowski, and it came directly from him pressing and regaining the ball after we had lost possession. For a kid that every team knows about and plans around, it’s that selflessness and effort in all phases of play that makes him different. It’s been an absolute privilege to watch him develop over the years without ever putting himself above the team.
“Paolo Leiva slid out wide for a lot of this game and did a lot of really hard tracking and defensive work. Whether he was central or out wide, I thought this was the best I’ve seen him against the ball in three years. He always provides us something going forward with his delivery, but it was a really mature performance from him tonight.
“I could genuinely shout out every player tonight, but I’ll keep it to mostly to our younger guys who continue to get better with every game. Tommy DeYoung really solidified us in midfield tonight, and Albion Plana anchored our back line really, really well. As sophomores, they have a really bright future. Our freshman, Julian Murphy, continues to get better every game. He’s got a bit of uniqueness about his game that he seems to play a lot of times at a slightly different pace than everyone else and it unbalances defenders. The confidence he’s playing with should only continue to rise so I’m really looking forward to seeing how he can help us throughout the rest of the season.
“It was truly a great night for so many of our guys. They showed resilience and maturity in a way that made our entire staff and program proud.”
Souderton coach Frank Demas:
–On the game: “Our team, hopefully, learned a lesson that you must play two halves of soccer tonight. We, unfortunately, just didn’t have it the first half at all. CB West played a full game and beat us. Hats off to West, they worked hard all game long.
“On the bright side for Souderton, we had an excellent second half. Maybe the best half we’ve played this year so far. Created a lot of good chances, were better in possession and played really well. We just couldn’t find the back of the net. Scoring goals hasn’t been easy, so we are really looking for someone to start putting some chances away soon.”
Next up: CB West (2-3-1, 1-2-1 SOL) hosts Wissahickon in a non-league game Friday. Souderton (2-2-1, 1-2-1 SOL) hosts Archbishop Carroll on Friday.
Souderton 0 0 – 0
CB West 1 0 – 1
Central Bucks East 2, Pennridge 1
CB East overcame an early 1-0 deficit and an injury to senior captain Alden Iurato, to post the 2-1 league win over Pennridge.
“We dedicated the game to Alden,” CB East coach Josh Isaacsohn said.
Alex Bobeica and Flavio Grimaldi scored the Patriots’ goals.
Scoring:
First Half –
Sam Turco goal off direct free kick 17th minute
Alex Bobeica (CBE) 38th minute
Second Half –
Flavio Grimaldi from Aidan McKeever (CBE) 41st minute
Central Bucks East coach Josh Isaacsohn:
–The game: “We had the better of play – I would say we had probably about 80 percent of the ball in their half, and credit to Pennridge, they made some good defensive plays. I think we probably should have put a couple more in the second half. If we did a little better job at finishing, it probably would have been a 4- or 5-1 game, but they played well.
“(Turco) hit a very nice shot, and it was in, but besides some quick counter attacks and stuff, I thought our defense played great.
“All around, a bit of a chippy game, which I kind of expected, but again, just a shame that a win feels a little bit like a loss because of a senior captain whose season is really affected by it.
“I want to give a huge shout out to Alden and just how much we feel for him.”
Next up: CB East (3-1-2, 3-0-1 SOL) plays at CB West on Tuesday. Pennridge (0-3-1, 0-3-1 SOL) plays at CB South on Tuesday.
CB East 1 1 – 2
Pennridge 1 0 – 1
Central Bucks South 3, North Penn 0
The Titans – after a tough loss earlier in the week – bounced back against a formidable North Penn squad. Book-end goals by Jackson Tait (both assisted by Gavin Medwid) propelled the Titans to a 3-0 road win at Crawford Stadium.
Scoring:
First Half –
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Gavin Medwid
Second Half –
Own Goal (CBS)
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Gavin Medwid
CB South coach Ed Brnardic:
“North Penn looked amazing in the first couple minutes. They moved the ball down the field and put in
a really good cross where we could have easily conceded the first goal of the game. And only a minute later, they had another good chance to score.
“But about 10 minutes in, our keeper, Maks Deliavskyi, played a ball to Ryan Burke who headed it on to Gavin Medwid. Gavin played Jackson Tait through on the wing, and Jackson put in a cool left foot finish on the near post – a goal scorer’s goal. We appreciate having a goalie who played striker in club for several years, so he knows how to read the field and distribute the ball.
“We almost went up by two shortly thereafter when Ethan Smith hit a one timer from the top of the box. You really couldn’t hit it better than Ethan did – perfect technique to keep it low, and the ball had eyes on it, going right for the goal, but the North Penn keeper somehow was able to track it, and he made an excellent save.
“The second half started tight, but a very unlucky play for North Penn resulted in an own goal out of nothing. A very tough break for North Penn and just one of those things that happens in high school sometimes. Then 10 minutes later we were able to close the game out on a really nice set play. Tyler Jaskelwicz delivered a beautiful corner, and Gavin Medwid knocked it over to Jackson Tait.
“Jackson is a killer in the box, and he has an instinctual movement off the ball and puts himself in
great positions. He managed to get free and he nearly put a hole in the back of the netting with his one-time finish. Overall, I’m very happy with the mindset the team brought to the game.”
–Props: “The score line is an illusion as this was a much closer game that it would indicate, and it could have gone either way. I was extremely impressed with North Penn – how they move the ball, how they connect passes, their individual technical ability, and their depth. Kyle Barros and Jonathan Morales are as dangerous as anyone we have seen up front and were the catalyst of a lot of their attacks, their defense is super solid, Logan Sanith does a great job for them, and Matt Bakir and Logan Bocklet are class, absolute class. They gave us fits, but at the same time it was an enjoyable game to watch as both teams played with good intentions.”
Next up: CB South (2-1-4, 3-1 SOL) next hosts Pennridge on Tuesday. North Penn (2-3, 2-2 SOL) plays at Lansdale Catholic on Friday.
North Penn 0 0 – 0

SOL Patriot Division
Pennsbury 5, Bensalem 0
Two early goals held up, and five different players scored goals as Pennsbury rolled to the shutout win over Bensalem on Wednesday.
Anjur Curevac scored the Falcons’ first goal and also added two assists.
Scoring:
First Half –
Ajnur Curevac (P), 10th minute
Jonathan Morris (P), 21st minute
Second Half –
Oleskiy Hontar (P), 41st minute
Nathan Gradziel (P), 42nd minute
Finnegan Burke (P), 50th minute
Pennsbury coach Tom Stoddart:
“Scored three in the first 10 minutes to take away any thought of letting the game slip away. Another full team effort with five different goal scorers.”
–Props: “Despite getting a little banged up in first half James Purdum with complete game shutout.
“Sam Awadalla, Ajnur Curevac and Graham Anderer with two assists each.”
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
“I thought we had a really strong first half. We had a few early opportunities that if we would’ve found the back of the net maybe things could’ve been different, but Pennsbury was able to get two goals on set pieces. Aside from those two goals, I thought we competed and played really well.
“The first 5 minutes of the second half were a different story as we did not come out ready to play and conceded three goals in succession. We eventually settled down but the game felt out of reach.”
Next up: Pennsbury (5-0, 4-0 SOL) has a non-league game against Germantown Academy on Thursday. Bensalem (3-2-1, 1-2-1 SOL) hosts CR South on Tuesday.
Bensalem 0 0 – 0
Pennsbury 2 3 – 5
Council Rock North 1, Neshaminy 1
A first-half goal gave Neshaminy a lead it would hold until midway through the second half, before CR North tied it up with a Ryan Pikul goal, and the SOL Patriot rivals had to settle for a 1-1 tie.
Gorgi Enukitze had Neshaminy’s goal.
Scoring:
First Half –
Gorgi Enukitze (N) assisted by Monty Jawawdeh, 20th minute
Second Half –
Ryan Pikul (CRN) from Gavin Brizuela, 60th minute
CR North assistant coach Brian Hoffman:
–The goal: “We scored around the 60th minute – it was a corner kick. It got played by Will Loudon over the top. Gavin Brizuela headed it back across, and Ryan Pikul found the back post and buried it. He just did the work. Anytime a player gets to the back post, they just outwork their defender, and those are hustle goals, and I find them to be proud moments.”
–The game: “We had an opportunity in the first half that could have been similar. There was a ball played on a restart, and Jason Foulke, who is not tall, just out-muscled his man and headed the ball across. So, the goaltender comes to the near post, and no one took the risk. No one was willing to make a run that they didn’t know they might need. If we had got there, we would have tucked one in there too.
“To me, it was a good, hard-fought game in the sense that we’ve allowed other teams to come back on us, and this was the first time I felt like we really showed some backbone and came from behind.
“The boys afterward were beating themselves up like – I could have done this better, I could have done that better, but to me, they showed a lot of heart and a lot of trust in each other to play together as a unit to come back.”
–Props: “Neshaminy has two guys up top that are really good. Their holding forward (Monty Jawawdeh) is a good-sized young man, and he definitely plays that way. He is strong like an ox, and you couldn’t pull him off the ball, push him off the ball if you wanted to, and then they got a really quick, shifty guy up top (Connor Choi), and I thought that defensively we did a pretty good job against them, especially considering we had two sophomores (Jude Reynolds and Luke Heindel) who started their first varsity game today. So, I was pretty pleased with that.
“Andrew French has a minor injury, and we’re hoping he can be back for Saturday because we had to shift out of our normal formation – we have four in the back, so those guys got their first varsity minutes, and I thought they played pretty well given the situation – a little frantic here and there, but that’s to be expected from guys that are gaining experience. I thought they did a good job while they were in there.”
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
–The game: “Overall, I thought we were kind of out of our game as Rock is a very direct
team. They play a lot of balls directly up to the forwards, and we had to work hard for balls in the air. It kind of threw us, so we kind of played a non-descript first half. The best thing I can say about our first half is we scored, which is nice.
“I think we settled down a little bit in the second half. We got a little bit better rhythm because of that. The corners have been killing us all year. It’s the third corner (goal) we’ve given up this year, so we’ve got to do a better job of marking and protecting leads.”
–Props: “I thought overall, our center of the park guys played really well. Dean Goodwin and Jake Fallon, our two center backs, played extremely well, and Stephen Buczek and Jayson Morris played really well in our midfield today.”
Next up: Neshaminy (2-3-2, 1-2-1 SOL) plays at Truman on Tuesday. CR North (2-1-3, 1-0-3 SOL) plays at CR South on Saturday.
Neshaminy 1 0 – 1
CR North 0 1 – 1
Council Rock South 4, Harry S Truman 0
Three second-half goals broke this one wide open, as CR South dominated from start the finish and put away Truman for the 4-0 win.
AJ Rensall scored for the Golden Hawks, and assisted on another.
Scoring:
First Half –
AJ Renshall (CRS) from Carson Wade
Second Half –
Brian Hyams (CRS) from Stephen Murray
Nolan Graham (CRS) from AJ Renshall
Owen Tway (CRS) from Stephen Murray
CR South assistant coach Zach Orenstein:
“It was a good game today. We had some nice moments of creativity and creation up the field. Everyone was able to contribute to the game which is nice to see. Credit to the Truman players for battling for 80 minutes.”
Next up: CR South (4-2-1, 2-1-1 SOL) plays CR North on Saturday. Truman (1-4, 0-4 SOL) hosts Neshaminy on Tuesday.
Truman 0 0 – 0

SOL Freedom
Springfield Twp. 3, Lower Moreland 0
Round 1 of the top rivalry in the Freedom Division went the way of Springfield, which scored once in the first half and then put it away with a pair of Adam DiBattista goals in the second half for the solid 3-0 victory.
Eden Ha scored in the first half for the Spartans.
Scoring:
First Half –
Eden Ha (S) from Jonah Hiestand, 35th minute
Second Half –
Adam DiBattista (S) from Matty Corcoran, 17th minute
Adam DiBattista (S) from Brendan Noonan, 22nd minute
Springfield coach Riley Woron:
“This was our first meeting with Lower Moreland this season. We shared the Freedom Division title with them last year so we knew it would be a tough match up. I’m proud of how our boys matched their intensity and stayed positive through the adversity. LM has some creative forward play, so it was great for our defense to hold strong across the back line and our keepers came up with some big saves to give our offense the chance to settle in and break down a disciplined opposition.
“We look forward to another fan-filled atmosphere when we go visit LM for their senior night later in October. Our current focus is continuing our momentum into our next game vs Upper Moreland on Tuesday before starting our second round of league games against William Tennent on Thursday.”
Next up: Springfield (6-0, 4-0 SOL) hosts Upper Moreland on Tuesday. Lower Moreland (3-2-2, 2-1-1 SOL) hosts Tennent on Tuesday.
Lower Moreland 0 0 – 0
Springfield 1 2 – 3
William Tennent 1, Cheltenham 0
A first-half goal held up, as William Tennent held off visiting Cheltenham to post the Freedom Division win.
Ryder Holt scored on a header in the 36th minute.
Scoring:
First Half –
Ryder Holt (WT) from Leon Lembersky
Tennent coach Nick D’Andrea:
“Ryder Holt scored on a head ball goal. Leon Lembersky served a free kick which found Ryder in the box at the 36th minute.
“Charlie Murtha earned a shutout in goal. Our defense and their defense had great games. Their two center backs are great players.
“Danny and Michael had Cheltenham ready to play today. They were organized, energized, and competitive. We play them for their homecoming at night next time, so it will be a tough challenge to play them again.”
Next up: Tennent (4-2, 3-1 SOL) plays at Lower Moreland on Tuesday. Cheltenham (0-7, 0-4 SOL) hosts New Hope-Solebury on Tuesday.
Cheltenham 0 0 – 0
William Tennent 1 0 – 1
New Hope-Solebury 3, Upper Moreland 1
Forest Yang scored twice and New Hope-Solebury picked up a key division win, knocking off visiting Upper Moreland by a 3-1 final on Wednesday.
New Hope coach Chris Van Pelt:
“It was a really good performance building off of the second half of our game at Springfield on Monday. We finally have all our guys back healthy and starting to build fitness which has definitely helped. We also have guys that continue to step up and put in solid performances every game.
“Big shout out to Forest Yang for getting us our first goals from open play this year and Thomas Marschall too for scoring in his first full game back. Every one of our guys today put in a performance worthy of a shout out which is all you can ask for.
“You always know you’re going to get a tough game against Upper Moreland, and I’m proud of the boys for being up for that challenge today and for executing the things we’ve been talking about in practice the past couple days. Hopefully we can continue to build and get some results from two tough match ups next week.”
Next up: New Hope (2-3-1, 1-2-1 SOL) plays at Cheltenham on Tuesday. Upper Moreland (2-4, 1-3 SOL) plays at Calvary Christian on Friday.

Hatboro-Horsham 7, Quakertown 2
A wild first half saw Hatboro-Horsham scored four goals in the first 24 minutes, and the two teams combined for seven goals in the first 40, but in the end the Hatters emerged with the 7-2 win at Quakertown on Wednesday.
Scoring:
First Half –
Noel Nation (HH) from Haiden Yoder, 6th minute
Lucas Smith (HH) from Finn Marsden, 8th minute
Lucas Smith (HH) from Yoder, 15th minute
Nick Bellizzie (HH) from Evan Paone, 24th minute
Luka Duric (QT), 32nd minute
Ben Maugle (QT), 35th minute
Chris Gallo (HH) from Flavio Quito-Rich 38th minute
Second Half-
Ryan Brosso (HH) from Daniel Simon 70th minute
Daniel Simon (HH) from Ryan Brosso 74th minute
H-H coach Kyle McGrath:
“We stressed starting the game more positively today, and we were able to jump out to a 4-0 lead 25 minutes into the game. Our first four goals were all different types; corner kick from Noel, through balls to Lucas Smith and a great combination from Nicky and Evan.
“From there we showed some immaturity as we made some subs and let Quakertown back into the game with two quick goals for them to cut our once comfortable lead in half. Fortunately, Chris Gallo was able to calm us down a bit with his goal in the 38th minute.
“We stayed organized defensively in the second half, and Quakertown’s goalkeeper made several saves on breakaways/chances that we were creating.
“We were finally able to break through with our 6th goal when Ryan Brosso received the ball from Daniel Simon and hit a right footed shot hard down and in. Those two combined for the final goal of the game with Daniel finishing after Brosso’s initial shot was saved.
“We have a quick turnaround with a non-league game tomorrow afternoon against Archbishop Wood at home. Hopefully the boys come out strong on the second day of a tough back-to-back.”
Next up: H-H (4-3, 2-2 SOL) hosts Archbishop Wood in a non-league game Thursday. Quakertown (1-3-1, 0-3-1 SOL) hosts Wissahickon on Tuesday night.
Hatboro-Horsham 5 2 – 7
Quakertown 2 0 – 2
Abington 4, Upper Dublin 0
Abington boys’ soccer beat Upper Dublin in an afterschool contest at Sparks Field at Upper Dublin high school between the two best teams in the Suburban One League Liberty Division over the past five or six years. It is a highly competitive contest every time these two teams play each other for that reason Abington won the game 3-0.
Scoring Summary
First half
Kyle Kretschman from Zak Yurchyshyn (A)
Second half
Jaza Vasquez (A))
Zak Yurchyshyn PK (A)
Abington coach Isaac Pitkow:
–The goals: “The first goal was created and scored by senior Kyle Kretschman. Kyle played the majority of his minutes at center back today and created the first goal by dribbling out of the back on a impressive run, carrying the ball from our own half into the attacking half past multiple defenders. A nice passing combination then took place between sophomore Kai O’Sullivan and senior Zak Yurchyshyn who found Kyle in the box after he continued his run forward and finished off the first goal of the game.
‘The second goal of the game came from senior forward Jaza Vasquez. Jazz is a player that can play on both the left side and the right side of an attacking front three. When he plays on the right side, he is very dangerous in beating his defender to the end line and serving balls across. When he plays on the left side, he is one of the most dynamic high school soccer players
I have seen, cutting in on his favorite right foot and creating goal scoring chances. Jaza has started with the ball on the left wing and proceeded to beat two defenders before taking an initial shot that was blocked. The ball landed at Zak‘s feet who played a perfect layoff back to Jaza who then finished with power and accuracy to the bottom left corner from the top of the 18 for the second goal of the day.
“The last goal of the day came with about five minutes to play. Sophomore left back Ciaran Regan played along cross into the box that hit the post and deflected to Zak Yurchyshyn in front of the goal. Zak took a shot that was saved off the line by a handball from an opposing Upper Dublin player that resulted in a penalty kick. Zak finished the penalty kick for the third and final goal of the day.
–A fast start to season: “Abington now sits at a record of five wins two ties and zero losses on the season. In the Suburban One Liberty Division, Abington sits four wins and zero losses with 19 goals scored and zero goals conceded. Junior goalkeeper Dom Veitz has been excellent between the post for all of these games registering another clean sheet for the Abington Ghost.”
Up next: Abington will host La Salle for a non-league game Friday (4pm), and Upper Dublin will travel to Hatboro-Horsham Tuesday.
Upper Dublin 0-0 0
Abington 1-2 3
Wissahickon 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2
The Trojans took a 1-0 lead into halftime, thanks to a goal by Eli Calpas, but the Colonials rallied to knot the score when Jake Bertin found the net with 15 minutes remaining.
The Trojans regained the lead with eight minutes remaining, but four minutes later, the Colonials answered, this time it was Finn Lafferty connecting to even the score.
Scoring Summary
First half
W – Eli Calpas 37th minute
Second half
PW – Jake Bertin from Dom Marcella 65th minute
W – River Elliot Assist Luke Frankenfield, 72nd minute
PW – Finn Lafferty from Nash Dauksis 76th minute
Wissahickon coach Stuart Malcolm:
“We played a more complete game ironically having a better second half than previous games . All credit to PW for responding twice. Pleased to keep the unbeaten streak going.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Toni Washington:
–The game: “We came out flat on our own turf, went down early and into half. Made some changes and we got a header and a nice shot from Finn. We have to work on creating more shots and being aggressive attacking.
“Our goalkeeper, Hayden Downer, had 10 saves and kept us in the game with huge saves at the end to keep it tied after being down the majority of the game.
“Our starters are getting a lot of minutes, and I’m hoping to gain some trust in others players to help us be successful to give guys breathers and prevent injuries throughout the season.”
Next game: Wissahickon will travel to Central Bucks West for a non-league SOL crossover game Friday (7pm), and Plymouth Whitemarsh will host Springfield-Delco on Friday.
