Non-league SOL crossover
Central Bucks East 3, Springfield Twp 1
After a scoreless first half, CB East scored three goals in a 14-minute stretch of the second half and avenged last year’s district playoff loss to Springfield that sent the Patriots home for the season.
“I think we came in with a chip on our shoulder,” said Patriots coach Josh Isaacsohn. “I think it had a little bit to do with losing last year in district playoffs and just in general not thrilled with the way our first half has gone in the last couple games.
“Credit to the boys. We had a long discussion about it, and they were all over them. I would say for most of the game we had a little bit better of the play and a little more physicality.”
Scoring Summary
Second Half –
Jack Thiebault (CBE) assisted by Dustin Weber, 58th minute
Francisco Martinez (CBE) assisted by Aidan Pasternak & Dustin Weber, 67th minute
Nathan Cruz (CBE) assisted by Matt Walloff, 72nd minute
Nate Lewis (S) assisted by Henry Hasty, 80th minute
CB East coach Josh Isaacsohn:
On the game: “It was 0-0 at the half. We had a few opportunities. I’d say a few more than them. They had a couple, but our goalie really stood tall.
“About eight minutes into the second half, a long throw from Dustin Weber found Jack Thibeault, who put it in the back of the net. About 17 minutes into the second half, Dustin Weber again to Aidan Pasternak, who then passed it to a sub who gives us quality time for short spurts up top, Francisco Martinez. In the 72nd minute, Matt Walloff had a really nice through ball to Nathan Cruz, who just had a great finish.”
–Props: “I really want to give props to our goalie, Liam Harding, and defenders and specifically, Jackson Jagoda. We had Jackson mark a player we felt was very dangerous for them – Harry Bates – and Jackson completely shut him down and got him out of his game. Not only that, he really frustrated him and did everything we wanted him to do to make him a non-factor, and we knew that to win we had to take Harry out of the game. Just really, really proud of Jackson. He’s a kid that always does all the work and doesn’t get a lot of the credit.”
Up next: Central Bucks East will host Archbishop Ryan in a non-league game Monday, and Springfield Twp will host Holy Ghost Prep in a non-league match Friday.
Springfield Twp 0 1 – 1
CB East 0 3 – 3
Hatboro-Horsham 1, Pennsbury 0
A first-half goal by Ethan Kamchatov was the difference in this one, as Hatboro-Horsham had a huge defensive effort and blanked Pennsbury on Thursday afternoon.
“It was a good one,” said H-H coach Kyle McGrath. “We got back on track, hopefully. Just overall, it was a good victory.”
Scoring Summary
First Half –
Ethan Kamchatov (HH), 12th minute
H-H coach Kyle McGrath:
–On the game: “We scored in the 12th minute off a free kick from maybe 22-24 yards out. Ethan Kamchatov hit a shot on target. We were a little bit fortunate – it went through the goalkeeper’s hands and found its way into the net, but after not scoring any goals Tuesday (in a loss to Tennent), we were obviously happy to take it.
“From there, we defended very well today. Pennsbury had a lot of pressure on us. They moved the ball very well, but we were much more disciplined today in the center midfield and across the back four, and we were able to limit their in-close chances. They still created some chances, but we defended well, and my goalkeeper – Anderson Kirby – made the saves that he needed to make, and we got a 1-0 victory.
“Their goalkeeper made two really, really good saves to keep the game 1-0, and we were able to see it out.”
–Props: “When we get a shutout, that’s a priority. My back four – Will Fisher, Finn Marsden at center back, Leighton Saxer and Ryan Brosso played really good at outside back. Kevin Long played in the center midfield and did a really good job winning head balls and disrupting play.”
Up next: Pennsbury will host William Tennent on Monday, and Hatboro-Horsham will travel to Harriton for a non-league game Saturday (12:30 pm).
Pennsbury 0 0 – 0
H-H 1 0 – 1

Neshaminy 1, Plymouth Whitemarsh 0
Brody Collins cashed in with the winning goal in the 77th minute, and Neshaminy escaped a stiff challenge from Plymouth Whitemarsh by a 1-0 final score on Thursday.
“He collected it from 30 yards out, took a couple touches, shot it from 20 and had just enough top spin on it where the goalkeeper mishandled it, and it went into the net,” said Neshaminy coach Tom Foley of Collins’ game-winner.
Scoring Summary
Second Half –
Brody Collins (N), 77the minute
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
–On the game: “Overall, the one positive I can say is we won the game. PW probably had the better of the play in the first half. We didn’t compete very well. The only thing I can say positively is we were good enough not to let them behind us. They had a handful of shots in the first half from outside the 18 that were struck really well, but they were right at our goalkeeper, so it wasn’t really difficult saves for him, but they were definitely the better team.
“The second half we were a little bit better. We started getting the balls wide and getting behind the defense on the flanks a little bit, but our crosses didn’t really amount to much. The best thing I can say is we won, and we’re going to try and correct some things tomorrow.
“Credit to PW. They probably had better chances than we did. They probably had eight shots, and we might have had four shots on goal today. The only unfortunate thing for them was their shots were right at our goalkeeper most of the time, and we managed to sneak one by their goalkeeper. We’ll take the win and kind of flush this game from our memory, correct some things and go on to Holy Ghost on Monday.”
–Props: “Jake Fallon continues to shine as our center back. He played a real solid game today.”
PW coach Toni Washington:
–On the game: “This is the best I’ve seen them play. We had so many scoring opportunities and defended well for 77 mins, then unfortunately a bad hop past our goalie (and we’re) down one.
“We tried to answer back but ran out of time. We are on the right track. We just need someone to step up and find the back of the net. We were the better team today, just couldn’t execute in the final third.
“As our confidence and trust in one another continues to grow, we get better and that’s all I can ask for. The winning results will come.”
Up next: Neshaminy will be on the road at Holy Ghost Prep for a non-league game Monday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh will be on the road at Coatesville for a non-league game Saturday (10am).
Neshaminy 0 1 – 1
PW 0 0 – 0
Souderton 3, New Hope-Solebury 1
Fin Williams scored twice, and Souderton started quickly to put away New Hope-Solebury in a crossover road game on Thursday.
“I’m proud of the boys for coming out after a long bus ride and starting the game strong,” said Indians coach Frank Demas. “We had a decent day. This wasn’t the best or cleanest game we’ve had. But they got the win and finished chances when it mattered. Sometimes, you have to just grind and get the win, which the boys did today.”
Scoring Summary
Fin Williams (S) from Brayden Muller
Brayden Muller (S) from Nate Scotti
Fin Williams (S)
Souderton coach Frank Demas:
–Props: “Shout out to (Brayden) Muller on drawing the PK and scoring his first varsity goal. He’s a hardworking kid and deservedly got his goal today.
“Shout out to Fin (Williams) as well. Two big goals.”
Up next: Souderton will be on the road at Methacton for a non-league game Saturday (11:30am), and New Hope-Solebury will travel to Harry S Truman Monday.
Souderton 3
New Hope 1
Central Bucks West 3, William Tennent 2
Michael Rafalowski scored twice, and CB West picked up the win against William Tennent in crossover play on Thursday.
“I’m really proud of our group today, because even though we were nowhere near our best, they remained determined to find a way to win and did so,” said Bucks coach John Adair.
Scoring Summary
First Half –
Beck Walton (CBW)
Michael Rafalowski (CBW)
Second Half –
Michael Rafalowski (CBW)
CB West coach John Adair:
–On the game: “Credit to Tennent, who definitely caused us trouble and bounced back really well after we scored two goals early in the first half, but I’m just happy for our guys to get a positive result that they’ve probably deserved based on performances in the last few games.
“While we played really well over the last week or two, we’d been struggling to break the last line to create real high quality chances. Today, we were much better in terms of chance creation, and we were rewarded with our goals.”
–Props: “Getting Beck Walton on the scoresheet again is great for us, and Michael Rafalowski proved to be the difference for us today. He’s got so much energy and qualities that make him different from just about any other player we see, and for him to get his reward today was great to see and hopefully great for his confidence.
“We played a lot of guys today as we’re at that point in the season where a lot of guys are struggling physically, and our players stepped up in a difficult moment.”
Up next: Central Bucks West will be on the road at Wissahickon Monday, and William Tennent will travel to Pennsbury on Monday.
CB West 2 1 – 3
Tennent 1 1 – 2
Pennridge 2, Cheltenham 0
With goals in each half and a solid all-around effort, Pennridge blanked Cheltenham 2-0 on Thursday afternoon.
“We were a bit unfortunate not to play Tuesday (because of the unavailability of refs), but it gave us some rest to prepare for this game and the boys played great,” said Rams coach Aaron Rapsinski. “We’ve been battling injuries, illnesses, you name it. Hoping the long weekend without games will help us rest and recover for next week.”
Scoring Summary
First Half –
Jace Soto (P) from Damien Perkowski, 8th minute
Second Half –
Damian Perkowski (P) from Sam Turco, 65th minute
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapsinski:
–On the game: “I think we were a bit lucky today with how Cheltenham had to set up. One of their CBs, who we had scouted as the leader of their back line, was out injured, so we took advantage of that where we could.
“We got out to a good start going up 1-0 just 8 mins into the game. Jace Soto slipped the ball past the keeper after Damian Perkowski had flicked him in behind their back line.
“Second half we started a little slow, but eventually we were able to generate a lot of chances. Cheltenham played a bit of a high line, and we might have gotten away with a few offside calls, but we were able to get in on goal a lot. Props to their keeper. He made a lot of saves that second half in 1v1 situations. We have to do better there going forward.
“We finally were able to break them down with 15 mins left in the game for our 2nd goal. Damian Perkowski hit a really nice low shot into the bottom corner after Sam Turco laid it off for him.“
Up next: Pennridge will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Wednesday, and Cheltenham will host Central Bucks South Monday.
Pennridge 1 1 – 2
Cheltenham 0 0 – 0
Central Bucks South 1, Lower Moreland 1 (2 OT)
Both teams scored second-half goals, and after 80 minutes and two overtime periods, CB South and Lower Moreland played to a 1-1 tie on Thursday.
Scoring Summary
Second Half –
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Leo Propato
LM goal
CB South coach Ed Brnardic:
“I’m really happy with how we moved the ball today. We worked it very well from the back and through the middle, and we mixed in some long balls to keep Lower Moreland on their heels.
“We had so many corner kicks and we had several chances from in close and from distance. We have to be happy with taking 27 shots, (several of them were really good scoring opportunities), but credit the Lower Moreland keeper and defenders for putting in some timely blocks.
“We threw the kitchen sink at them, especially in overtime, but soccer is an unforgiving sport, and they did enough to keep us from securing the winning goal.”
–The goal: “The game was scoreless going into the second half, but it didn’t take long for CB South to break that deadlock. They took the opening kickoff, put eight passes together and put the ball into the back of the goal. It was a well worked goal that saw AJ Okoniewski find fullback Luca Giglio sneak in behind the Lower Moreland defense. Luca connected with Leo Propato who one-timed a ball into the box that Jackson Tait buried in the net.
“Lower Moreland was able to equalize 12 minutes later and there would be no further scoring after that.”
–Props: It’s really hard to pick out individuals in a game like this. Our entire back line of Rowan McDonald, Finn Commins, Lucas Tyson and Luca Giglio were exceptional (Rowan especially was in beast mode today). Our midfield of Josh Dozier, AJ Okoniewski and Tyler Jaskelewicz were relentless. I get exhausted just watching them, and our forwards Nate Monser and Jackson Tait were dangerous on the ball. Credit to several players who came off the bench and kept the momentum going as well.“
Lower Moreland coach Bob Barnhart:
–On the game: “CB South is a program that is top of 4A District One year in and year. out and is a good barometer for a 3A school like us. We played them tough last year at their place, and that win set the tone for the second half of our season.
“We knew that this year they would come in wanting a bit of revenge from last season and the game would be fast and physical. The coaching staff put together a specific plan and our guys executed it for 100 minutes of soccer.
“The entire team played our game except for a mental lapse coming out of the break. Both teams had their chances and struggled to convert on them. They got on the board first a minute or so into the second half, but I was impressed with our composure after the goal and our ability to stick to the tactics that worked for the opening 40 minutes.
“We were able to slot home a ball the midway through the second half and then our backs and goalie just locked it down from there. Ties are sometimes tough to take, but we will definitely take the tie today against a strong and well coached CB South squad.”
Up next: Central Bucks South will travel to Cheltenham Monday, and Lower Moreland is off until Friday, Sept. 26, when the Lions will be on the road at Council Rock South.
CB South 0 1 0 0 – 1
Lower Moreland 0 1 0 0 – 1
Bensalem 3, Wissahickon 2
Chase Esposito scored twice and assisted on another and Bensalem rallied to edge Wissahickon 3-2 in a crossover win for the Owls on Thursday.
“Chase had a great day today and seemed to ramp up his effort as the game wore on,” said Bensalem coach Kevin Bock. “Hopefully, the win is something we can build from.”
Scoring Summary
First Half –
Wissahickon goal
Chase Esposito (B) from Artur Drizd
Second Half –
Wissahickon goal
Chase Esposito (B)
Jordan Posten (B) from Chase Esposito
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
–On the game: “The first half was well played. Both teams had decent energy and some chances with Wissahickon getting on the board first to go up 1-0. We’ve had a tendency this year to put our heads down after conceding the first goal, but the boys continued to battle and were able to get one back when Artur played a ball over there back line that Chase was able to run on to and finish.
“We came out strong in the second half, but Wissahickon scored a really nice goal off a corner to go back ahead. We continued to pressure their back line and eventually won a free kick just outside the box. Chase took the free kick and buried it to tie the game.
“The intensity from both teams went up significantly after that. With just under 5 minutes to go, Brian Bock was able to play Chase through on the right side where he was able to cut to goal and get off a shot. The goalie made the save, but Jordan Posten was there to finish the rebound and put us up 3-2.
“Wissahickon put a ton of pressure on us over the last four plus minutes but we were able to hold on for the win.”
–Props: “Our defense (Enew Garcia, Danny Kalita, Isaac Mathieu, Dylan Barnhart, and Ben Reinert) worked hard all day and our goalie, Gavin Pesiri, was active off his line and made several saves to preserve the win in the second half. We also got great effort from several other players including Aiden Price, Declan Corbett, and Brandon Bock.“
Up next: Bensalem will host Abington Monday, and Wissahickon will host Central Bucks West Monday.
Bensalem 1 2 – 3
Wissahickon 1 1 – 2
Council Rock North 0, Abington 0
In a crossover between two teams that figure to be a factor come district playoff times, Abington and CR North played to a scoreless tie Thursday.
CR North assistant coach Brian Hoffman:
–On the game: “Two very good teams played and tied 0-0. They are really big, really strong, really fast, and we defended very well, played goal very well. We had a couple of opportunities and did not capitalize on them.
“Similarly for them. They have a young man that can throw the ball in a country mile, and we just defended a barrage of head balls and a barrage of free starts and came out with a hard-earned tie for both teams. We played great team soccer as did Abington.”
–Props: “(Elias) Berman, our goalkeeper, made a save in the second overtime with under a minute left that one of their players said was ‘literally the best save I’ve ever seen in my life.’ Now mind you, he’s probably a 17- or 18-year-old man, but not too shabby.
“Darek Miller playing center back was outstanding as well. He kept our back line organized, communicated well.”
Up next: Council Rock North will travel to New Foundations for a non-league game Friday, and Abington will be on the road at Bensalem Monday.
CR North 0 0 0 0 – 0
Abington 0 0 0 0 – 0
Quakertown 3, Harry S Truman 1
Wilson Martinez scored two goals, as Quakertown won for the second time this week, 2-1, over Harry S Truman on Thursday afternoon.
Aldo Flores also scored for the Panthers.
Up next: Quakertown will be on the road at Saucon Valley for a non-league game Saturday (10am), and Harry S Truman will host New Hope-Solebury on Monday.
