SOL non-league crossover
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2, CHELTENHAM 1
Tyler Jaskelewicz opened the scoring early in the match and Finn Commins added a second late in the first half on a PK to give the CB South Titans a 2-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Cheltenham pulled to within one with a goal off a free kick play, but CB South was able to close out the 2-1 win.
Commins’ score – which would hold up as the game-winner – was his first varsity goal.

Cheltenham goal
Central Bucks South coach Ed Brnardic: “We had a comfortable first half and were a bit unlucky to not be up by more than two goals. Tyler Jaskelewicz was dangerous on the wing, scoring the first on a beautiful ball from Rowan McDonald, and later winning a penalty kick after AJ Okoniewski sent him through to goal and he was then tripped up by the defenders.
“We opened up the second half determined to put in an all-important third goal and close out the game, but instead we made the match more difficult on ourselves when we conceded on a set play. Early in the second half, Cheltenham had a free kick from about 35 yards out, and we left an attacker all alone in the box. The ball rebounded to him, and he was able to lob a perfect ball from a very difficult angle over our defenders and keeper.”
—Props: “Our defenders – Rowan McDonald and Lucas Tyson – were lockdown on the back line, and we celebrated Finn Commins, who scored his first varsity goal. In the midfield, Josh Dozier put in an incredible effort and up-front. Tyler Jaskelewicz generated both of our goals.
Up next: Cheltenham will travel to Neshaminy for a 7 pm Thursday game. South hosts neighborhood rival Central Bucks East at 7 pm Sept. 30.

WISSAHICKON 7, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 4
A three-goal outburst in an 8-minute span of the second half lifted Wissahickon to a lead it would not relinquish as the Trojans downed Central Bucks West 7-4 in a high-scoring affair in Monday’s SOL Crossover game.
Nolan Reilly had a pair of goals for the Trojans as part of the three-goal run, while Luke Frankenfield picked up a pair of assists. The Trojans trailed 2-1 at halftime but used the three unanswered goals early in the second half to spark an offense that scored six goals in the second half.

Wissahickon coach Stuart Malcolm: “We were disappointed to go down a goal mainly because we had talked in practice about defending from our own corners, so we needed to do a better job of arranging the back line to stop transitions. They had a nice transition. They moved the ball around really well, put a guy through and he finished it really well to make it 1-0.”
—On the scoring: “After (West’s first goal), we scored probably one of our best goals of the season when we tied it up. We knocked the ball around from the back, through the middle of the field, played a ball out wide just like you do at practice. Morgan sent in a great cross, which we don’t see that often in practice, but we’d like to see more of it.
“Paul Brogan had a terrific header that he buried in the corner of the goal. It’s something you try and get them to practice. We have some success and some not success, but that one certainly looked like the guys knew what they were doing, so that was a pleasant surprise, and it was good to see them have some success with that.
“We gave up a goal on a cross that they got to first. After that, we got some headed goals, which was nice. It’s something we’ve been working on as a team since preseason just to get a little bit better in the air. Both Nolan’s goals and Braden Vorchheimer’s were all head balls, so the was good.
“Aidan Simeon had a great shot for his. It was just a direct free kick – he hammered it into the upper 90. It was a really good shot, and Lex’s was a breakaway at the end.”
—Finally pulling away: “We had all sorts of things going on. We’d get two goals ahead, and they’d pull one back, two ahead again and one back. Thankfully, we got a couple near the end to kind of calm the nerves with about five minutes to go, but pretty much most of the half, it was just backwards and forwards.”
Up next: Wissahickon hosts North Penn at 3:30 pm Thursday. The Bucks will look to bounce back when they visit Hatboro-Horsham at 7:30 pm Thursday.

“We scored a couple quick goals to start the game. From there, we continued putting pressure on with lots of shots, we just could not finish. We started the second half well again with Muller scoring. Alderfer and Beiler had a quiet day in goal (Alderfer with 1 save) for the combined shutout.”

Central Bucks East coach Josh Isaacsohn: “Ryan seemed a little bit off. They arrived a little bit late. We had it together. It just seemed to be a day where we had it going. I’m not sure if they had some injuries or if something happened in school, but their JV ended up not showing up because of a transportation issue. I think our guys were just ready.
“The nice thing about a game like this – we got everybody in, and we’ve had tons of guys working really hard who really deserved some playing time. Everybody got solid playing time today. It was a really nice effort all around. Our big thing was to keep the zero on the board, which we did. It was a whole team effort.”
Up next: East will visit Abington at 3:30 pm Thursday.

NESHAMINY 0, HOLY GHOST PREP 0 (OT)
On Monday, Neshaminy tangled with nonleague opponent Holy Ghost Prep, and the highly skilled Firebirds gave Neshaminy all it could handle. The visitors gladly returned the favor.
As a result, neither team was able to find the net as the squads battled to a scoreless tie.
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley: “Overall, it was a much, much better effort than we had against PW on Thursday. We tried limiting our touches, we move the ball pretty well. We worked 50 times harder than we did on Thursday. Holy Ghost probably had the three most technical players we’ve seen all year. They had a kid on the left side who was an absolute handful. He just gave us fits all night. We did a great job containing him for the most part.
“Chances were hard to come by in regulation. Ghost probably had a few more shots than we did on goal. In overtime, we missed one on the line. Brody Collins had one from 18 that the goaltender had to make a diving save that he knocked out for a corner. They hit the crossbar in the first overtime on a header, so it was a pretty entertaining overtime.
“Overall, it was a really good effort by the boys. I was really pleased with their effort tonight. A tie doesn’t do us any harm tonight. It was a good group, two good teams. I was really pleased that we kept them off the scoreboard, but they did likewise to us.”
—Props: “Damien Castro was a monster in the midfield today. He’s our most physical player. He wins balls, plus he gets people in motion. He did a tremendous job tonight.
“Jake Fallon continues to play exceptionally well in the center in the back. He keeps everything organized. As well as the whole back line – Chris Reed, Dean Goodwin and Chase Melhuish – did a really nice job because they had some really clever offensive players, so I thought they did a great job keeping them contained.”
Up next: Neshaminy will host Cheltenham at 7 pm Thursday.
