Harry S. Truman 3, Council Rock South 2
It took longer than the Tigers would have liked, but they were finally able to capture their first win of the 2014 season. And they did it on the road.
Harry S. Truman went into Council Rock South High School and left with a one-goal victory.
Truman (1-4-1, 1-4-1) received first half goals from freshman Badr Faske and sophomore Christian Herrara, and junior Eddie Worthington tapped in a rebound off a Jeremy Beese direct kick with less than six minutes to play to give the Tigers the game-winning goal.
"I think that after Friday's tie with Abington, we felt like we were moving in the right direction," Truman coach Bill O'Neil said. "We finally got some people back from injuries, more of our guys were out there and we just finally had a full squad in lace. It always feels god to get your first win, but it's just a start.
"Eddie (Worthington) is one of our best players, and he goes in there and plays any position on the field. Today, he came through with a goal that he needed to score to help us get a victory."
Truman took a 2-1 lead into halftime before the Golden Hawks (3-5-0, 1-5-0) were able to tie things up.
Eventually, Worthington put in the game-winner to not only help Truman to the win, but to also give the Tigers their first three-goal performance of the season.
"We put the ball in the net today," O'Neil said. "Any other day, we have been struggling to put goals up and today, we got goals from a freshman, a sophomore and a junior. It was good that we were able to get the ball in the back of the net."
Goalkeeper Fernando Mendez assisted on Faske's goal, while Matheus Souza assisted on Herrara's tally.
O'Neil gave a lot of credit to Mendez for his play in net. The net-minder stopped over 10 shots to earn the win.
"He's a beast," O'Neil said. "He made some ridiculous saves that the other team’s coach was like, 'Where did you get this kid from?' He's been like that all year. If you ask me, he's the best goalie in the league."
Brent Weinstein scored both goals for the Golden Hawks.

Central Bucks East 3, Pennridge 2
Evan Vare connected for the hat trick and Alex Parasky contributed a pair of assists to lead the Patriots to the hard-fought win over an improving Pennridge squad.
“It was an exciting one,” East coach Mike Gorni said. “Peter (Valimont) is doing a really, really good job with that team.
“They’re organized, they’re playing hard for each other. They played a great game tonight, and we’re pleased to come out with a win. They have really been competing with everyone, and they’re a dangerous team to play. They’re not only putting the effort in, but they’re playing well. They were an absolute chore for us tonight.”
Vare put the Patriots on the scoreboard early, using a Parasky assist. A Cameron Sheva goal late in the first half sent the teams into halftime deadlocked 1-1.
Another goal by Vare, this one with an assist from J.R. Eisold, put the Patriots on top 2-1. Again the Rams had answer with Cayce Giblin scoring the equalizer on a head ball. The Patriots won it when Vare connected for his third goal of the night with 11 minutes remaining, once again using a Parasky assist.
“Basically, it was a typical hard-fought Continental Conference game,” Gorni said. “Right now, we’re coming out on the winning end of it, and I’m really grateful for that.
“It was a very good game. We went up twice, and they tied it twice. We scored, and fortunately, there wasn’t enough time for Pennridge to tie it again.”
The Patriots remain perfect in Continental Conference play with an 8-0 mark (10-1 overall) while the Rams are 1-5-2 in league play (1-5-3 overall).
