Check out the recaps for SOL boys’ soccer teams in action Thursday.

Springfield Twp 2, Council Rock North 0
Springfield went on the road and ended a three-game losing streak emphatically, knocking off Council Rock North by a 2-0 score on Thursday.
“Last week was a rough week,” said Spartans coach Dan Meder. “I thought we played well against Abington and lost, but then I thought we did not play well the rest of the week and lost.
“It was a good game. There were two good teams. Council Rock North’s obviously a good team, and they’re well coached. Both teams were trying to move the ball, both teams played physical, and it was back and forth. Our goalies bailed us out a couple of times, so they could have had a few goals as well.”
Harry Bates set up both of the Spartans’ goals – the first by Nate Lewis and the second by Roman Corcoran. Both were scored in the first half as the Spartans took a 1-0 lead when Lewis found the back of the net in the 15th minute. They never looked back.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Nate Lewis (S) from Harry Bates, 15th minute
Roman Corcoran (S) from Harry Bates, 33rd minute
Springfield coach Dan Meder:
–On the game: “We played two different goalkeepers, and they were both excellent. Josh Garbarini played the first half, and in the second half Robin Kester played.
“Our defense was really good. One was a new guy, Dylan Gray. We moved him from another position to play back there, and that worked really well. Brendan Noonan played in a new position, and he was excellent. He usually plays defense, but he played in the midfield today.”
Scoring early: “That was big because coming off last week we were struggling. We were losing confidence and just weren’t playing well, so it was good to see the guys come out and attack the game and play with some confidence. They played well.”
Up next: Springfield Twp will host New Hope-Solebury Tuesday, and Council Rock North will host Bensalem Tuesday.
Springfield 2 0 – 2
CR North 0 0 – 0
Pennsbury 2, Conwell-Egan 0
It took only four minutes for the Falcons to get a lead they would not lose as Levin Dicco scored and Pennsbury went on its way to the 2-0 nonleague shutout of rival Conwell-Egan on Thursday.
Ryan Mathis also scored in the first half for the Falcons.
James Purdum and Cooper Stubbs combined for the shutout in goal.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Levin Diccio (P) from Karlios Bubulas, 4th minute
Ryan Mathis (P) from Ryan Polumbo, 34th minute
Pennsbury coach Tom Stoddart:
“It’s been five-plus halves of soccer since we found the back of the net so scoring earlier was very important. Total team effort with everyone on the roster playing minutes to allow us to play with pace and urgency needed.”
Up next: Pennsbury will travel to Cheltenham for a non-league crossover game Friday.
Pennsbury 2 0 – 2
Conwell-Egan 0 0 – 0
Council Rock South 4, Pennridge 0
A Reid Van Demark penalty kick got CR South started in what would prove to be a big first half and a big road win, as the Golden Hawks blanked Pennridge 4-0 on Thursday.
Van Demark also scored in the second half. Owen Lubieski and Stephen Murray had goals for the Hawks, as well.
“It was a good win tonight,” said CR South assistant coach Zach Orenstein. “Our guys are always excited about playing under the lights. We came out with a ton of energy and were very dangerous from the opening whistle.”
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Reid Van Demark (PK)
Owen Lubieski from Josh Coehlo
Stephen Murray from Brody Kushner
Second Half –
Reid Van Demark (PK)
CR South coach Zach Orenstein:
“We had a spell where we had the ball in their end for a minute. We had deep throw-ins and corners, and we were challenging everything very well. It was slippery tonight with the rain, and we received a PK for a handball in the box after a few deep throws.
“Reid Van Demark had a nice finish from the spot. This opened things up for us. Owen Lubieski, our center back, came up with a goal on a head ball from a set piece by Josh Coehlo. Late in the half, Brody Kushner won a ball in their end and found Stephen Murray on the flank who scored a nice goal. It was nice to see us finish the chances we created.
“Reid drew another foul in the box in the second half for his brace. He was a handful tonight.”
–Props: “Our back line and goalkeeper kept a clean sheet tonight. We stressed this both before the game and at half time. It was very rainy, so it took a good showing to keep a clean sheet. Well done to them.”
–Community Night: “It was also Community Night at Pennridge tonight, which is always a fun event for the local youth players. It was a shame the weather couldn’t hold off for them.
“It was a nice win. We are back at tomorrow with a big one at home against Lower Moreland.”
Up next: Council Rock South will host Lower Moreland in a non-league crossover Friday, and Pennridge will travel to Hatboro-Horsham for a non-league crossover game Saturday (7pm).
CR South 3 1 – 4
Pennridge 0 0 – 0
Souderton 3, Plymouth Whitemarsh 0
Fernando Diaz, AJ Pisoni and Liam Manner all scored goals, as Souderton jumped out early and blanked visiting Plymouth Whitemarsh 3-0 under the lights and a whole lot of rain on Thursday night.
“It was a bit of a sloppy game with all of the rain,” said Indians coach Frank Demas. “But after a few minutes we adjusted well. Our mids had to do a lot of dirty work in the middle of the field.”
Scoring Summary
Fernando Diaz (S) from Liam Manners
AJ Pisoni (S) from Liam Shaw
Liam Manners (S) from AJ Pisoni
Souderton coach Frank Demas:
“(Nicolas) Barrales, (Fin) Williams, (Liam) Shaw, (Trevor) Alderfer all worked really hard in there for the team. Barrales especially had a lot of work on his plate tonight. I think we played him at four different positions.
“Again, it was a sloppy game. So, we really relied on guys outworking our opponent. There are so many guys we could shout out today.
“We’ve had a crazy couple weeks. Tomorrow will be our sixth game in 11 days. I’m incredibly proud of the work ethic every single one of these guys has shown in the past two weeks. It’s not easy playing all of these games in a row, but the boys are showing up.
“Back line was incredibly solid again. Just really good play and smart decisions.
“Pisoni scored the second goal for us off a Shaw assist. He then took on two defenders and slotted the ball in the corner. AJ is having a really solid few games here. Very dangerous, creating crosses and finishing his chances. AJ also assisted the third goal. He was in on a breakaway and made a really unselfish decision to pass the ball to Manners, who had a tap in, to finish the game off.
“Fin Williams played a great game in the (center midfield). Especially in the second half. He won a lot of balls for us and made good decisions going forward.
“Fernando and Manners connecting on our first goal – it was a very nice goal with Fernando winning the ball, playing it to Manners. And then Manners with a great ball back across the goal for Fernando to finish off.”
Up next: Souderton will host Bensalem on Tuesday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh will travel to Quakertown on Tuesday.

Abington 1

Wissahickon 3, North Penn 1
Two goals five minutes apart in the second half broke open a game that was tied at halftime, as Wissahickon went on the road and scored the upset over North Penn 3-1 on Thursday afternoon.
Braden Vorchheimer, Jack Horan and Paul Brogan each scored for the Trojans.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Carson Schell (NP), 28th minute
Braden Vorchheimer (W), 35th minute
Scoring Half –
Jack Horan (W) from Paul Brogan, 65th minute
Paul Brogan (W) from Charlie Fortescue, 70th minute
Wissahickon coach Stuart Malcolm: “Great result against a tough opponent. The players followed up from a crazy game Monday against CB West with a solid performance.
“Credit to solid team defending and a desire to get forward when in possession. Defenders Jonathan Schiffman, Malachi Hodges and Brayden Dehner and goalkeepers Nick Costello and Austin Yeh deserve a lot of credit.
“Hopefully we can keep this form going and cement a playoff spot.”
North Penn coach Chris DePeppe: “We had a very bad day today. All of us, myself included. I didn’t know a thing about this Wissahickon team, and I made the mistake of assuming some things based on some of their poor results. I also knew nothing about their new multi-use turf field. I just assumed we were playing in their stadium today, so we were really not prepared for the narrow pitch, and we just could not get any control of the play. But the credit goes to Wiss and Coach Malcolm. They were more determined to win balls, and they won the midfield battles all day. We had a few chances early, but they outshot us on the day, and they kept GK Brady Schwengels busy all day.”
–The game: “We were without senior captain Fionn Regan today, but we had trained well this week, and we seemed to be figuring things out offensively. We had some early chances, and finally Carson Schell ripped a shot from a tough angle to score what we all thought would be just our first goal. Turned out to be our only one.
“And then we foolishly conceded a PK late in the half. Brady saved the initial shot but not the rebound. It was a curiously officiated game I thought, and that moment particularly was a mess. One referee whistled the play dead too soon, and our guys stopped…but they earned the goal and the win.
I should know better than to underestimate a team from a strong program like Wissahickon. But this team is experienced and resilient and we will rebound quickly.”
Credit to the Trojans: “Just very surprised that we allowed three goals for the first time all season, but they outshot us and outplayed us and killed us through the midfield.
“Their senior captain Charlie Fortescue was tremendous – great work rate and he really led their team today.”
–Props: “I thought Cole Taylor our senior center back had a great game. Without Cole (and Brady in goal) it could have been much worse.”
Up next: North Penn will host Central Bucks West on Tuesday (7pm), and Wissahickon will host Upper Dublin on Tuesday.
Wissahickon 1 2 – 3
North Penn 1 0 – 1
Central Bucks West 3, Hatboro-Horsham 1
With three unanswered goals after falling behind early, CB West earned a big road victory Thursday night, knocking off Hatboro-Horsham 3-1.
Beck Walton, Paolo Leiva and Michael Rafalowski each scored goals for the Bucks.
“On a wet and rainy night like tonight, the concern is that anything can happen because anyone can make a mistake or the ball can take an unexpected bounce,” said CB West coach John Adair. “With that in mind, our boys were terrific.”
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Evan Long (HH) from Kevin Paone
Beck Walton (CBW)
Paolo Leiva (CBW)
Second Half –
Michael Rafalowski (CBW)
CB West coach John Adair:
“After one of the strangest games of soccer I’ve ever been a part of on any level earlier in the week, we wanted to make sure that we got back to our identity as a group tonight. Early on, after a really well-worked goal by Hatboro-Horsham, our boys responded really well and they all deserve a ton of credit for that.
“It may have been our most complete performance this season, which is great timing with Senior Night tomorrow and then heading back into division games.
“I thought we competed at a really high level, especially after conceding, and we were winning the first contact and second balls in our duels which allowed us to create and sustain attacks for long stretches of the game.
“The team we were tonight was unrecognizable from the one that played on Tuesday, and every player contributed in every line of the team.”
–Props: “Our forwards (Beck Walton, Andres Reyes, and Jameson Durie) had what was probably their best performance, constantly combining and threatening in behind.
“Our midfield was terrific breaking lines with the ball and immediately breaking up plays in transition.
“Our back line was organized, aggressive, and made it really difficult for them to get into a rhythm. On the back line, I have to shout out Ethan DeHaven, who has played essentially every minute this season and is as consistent of a presence as we have. He’s not flashy and may not catch a lot of people’s eye, but he’s comfortable on the ball and has developed into one of the best defenders in our division in my opinion.
“I could easily single out a whole list of players that deserve it tonight, but it was truly a team effort. Everybody was up to the level that was needed tonight, and I couldn’t be more pleased for all of them.”
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham will host Pennridge in a non-league game Saturday (10am), and Central Bucks West will host Springfield Delco in a non-league game Friday (7pm).
CB West 1 2 – 3

Pennridge 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1
Jace Soto scored the game-winner in the second half in Pennridge’s 2-1 non-league win against PW on Wednesday.
Sam Turco also scored for the Rams.
Scoring Summary
First Half –
PW goal
Sam Turco (P) from Jace Soto
Second Half –
Jace Soto (P) from Sam Turco
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapsinski:
“Second half was really back and forth. Props to PW. That whole team was scrappy and played a smart game. … We finally took the lead with 18 mins left in the game. We were able to get some really good possessions and worked it down the right side. Sam Turco beat his man, whipped in a nice cross at the PK spot, and Jace Soto slid in and fired it home.”
–Props: “I want to shout out our keeper today. We had to make a late change just before game time, and our senior keeper Gavin Mill had to step in for the start. He’s been working really hard at practice and hasn’t gotten a ton of time. But today he stepped up and made some really important saves for us.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh 1 0 – 1
Pennridge 1 1 – 2
