SOL Patriot Division
Council Rock South 1, Neshaminy 0
Madden Burns scored the only goal in the game in the second half, as Council Rock South scored a huge win over Neshaminy 1-0 in Patriot Division play on Tuesday.
The Golden Hawks started the night in the No. 19 spot in the District One power rankings, beating a Neshaminy team that was No. 14.
Scoring Summary:
Second Half –
Madden Burns (CRS) from Brody Kushner.
CR South assistant coach Zach Orenstein:
“Today was a very complete win for us. We are very pleased with the work rate and composure we had throughout the match. Neshaminy is a hard-working group that can play a nice game through their midfield. Last time we played them, it was a 100-minute battle that ended 0-0. It felt good to get the win today.
–The goal: “Our midfielders had a tough assignment today, but they put in a terrific shift. The goal came from the midfield as Brody Kushner won a ball in the middle third, found Madden Burns who scored with a nice left-footed shot from outside the box.
– Props: “Madden Burns’ energy from the midfield spot was pivotal for us. We needed to rotate a few guys in and out of the defensive midfield spots, and there was no letdown. Whether it was Nolan Graham, Brody Kushner, Adrian Cardone, or Sean Davis, they stuck to the game plan in that spot. Their physicality and ball winning never wavered, allowing Madden to collect second balls and connect up the field.
“The back line was, once again, very strong. You need to keep a clean sheet away at Neshaminy. They put a lot of pressure on us as the game went on. I thought we answered well.”
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
–On the game: “I thought our kids competed pretty hard. The first half was rather nondescript. We just played between the 18s. We had a chance or two. Rock had two really nice chances, but other than that, it was pretty nondescript.
“The second half started off, we were battling pretty well. We lost the ball at midfield, and their guy (Madden Burns) ran free for a bit, just put his head down. whacked a shot that snuck by our goaltender. You could see us visibly sag. We were kind of deflated. Goals are hard to come by for us right now, and Rock took it to us for a good 15 minutes.
“We pressed a little bit and moved a guy forward the last 10 minutes. We had a couple of free kicks, and we couldn’t get on the end of them. Our effort’s there. We just have to figure out how to put the ball in the net. It might be a matter of change of formation, change of our style of play, but hopefully, we’ll figure it out and get after it against Pennridge.
“We just have to find that consistency of finishing our chances. We get the ball to the 18, and we’re in a slump. We just can’t figure out the proper weight to put on the ball. We shoot it just wide or right at the keeper. We’ll try and figure it out and get after it on Friday against Pennridge.”
–Props: “Jake Fallon continues to play well in the back for us.”
Up next: Council Rock South will host Hatboro-Horsham in a non-league crossover game Friday, and Neshaminy will travel to Pennridge for a non-league crossover game Friday.
CR South 0 1 – 1

Council Rock North 3, Bensalem 0
Logan Adams scored on a pair of head balls in the first half, and CR North celebrated Senior Night with a quality 3-0 shutout of Bensalem in its return to divisional play on Tuesday night.
Andrew DeAngelis scored in the second half for the Indians.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Logan Adams (CRN) from Danny Novik, 8th minute
Logan Adams (CRN) from Danny Novik, 20th minute
Second Half –
Andrew DeAngelis (CRN) from Chase Murphy, 62nd minute
Council Rock North varsity assistant Brian Hoffman:
–On the game: “All three goals were scored on corner kicks, and both of Logan Adams’ were head balls. The DeAngelis goal was basically a kick to the near post. It got deflected, and Andrew just cleaned it up. I don’t even know if the goalkeeper saw it before it was in the back of the net.
“We played really well. We controlled play throughout the game. It was our Senior Night, so we played a bunch of our guys that have been in the
program for their four years here. I was glad they were able to get more minutes than they usually get. Everybody played well. They did their jobs even when given an opportunity to sometimes play a position they don’t play all the time, so we could get all 10 seniors on the field.”
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
–On the game: “I thought our boys played well tonight. We’ve had a stretch of games where our energy and effort hasn’t been where it’s needed to be. The boys acknowledged it and made a decision to come out with high energy and intensity tonight. We defended strong throughout the night, had some good combination play through the midfield, and created opportunities to score. Unfortunately, we continued to struggle finding the back of the net and North scored all their goals on corner kicks.”
–Props: “Our back line of Enew Garcia, Danny Kalita, Ben Reinert, and Dylan Barnhart had a really good night, and Gavin Pesiri had several strong saves in goal.”
Up next: Council Rock North will host Masterman in a non-league game Friday, and Bensalem will travel to Holy Ghost Prep for a non-league game Wednesday.

Anjur Curevac led the way with two goals, as Pennsbury had six different players with goals in a 7-0 win over Truman Tuesday.
“Solid team win on the road,” said Falcons coach Tom Stoddart. “We have an unbalanced schedule this season with road games, so it was good to get a win on the road.”
Scoring Summary:
Pennsbury goals – Anjur Curevac 2, Ryan Mathis, Karolis Bubulas, Liam Bobbings, Levin Diccio, Ethan Ramas.
Up next: Pennsbury will travel to Bensalem on Tuesday, and Harry S Truman will host Quakertown Thursday in a non-league crossover.

Central Bucks East 6, Central Bucks South 5
Dan Frey converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute to tie it, and two minutes later Jack Thibeault scored, as CB East – which trailed 5-3 in the second half – rallied to beat rival CB South in a wild one under the lights on Tuesday. Frey’s hat trick led the Patriots.
“It was just a wild, incredible high school soccer game,” said Patriots coach Josh Isaacsohn. “One of the better ones I’ve been a part of, but also really crazy.
“All respect to Ed Brnardic and the South coaching staff. Their boys came out ready to play. We knew it was going to be a battle. We had the same record, we had lost to them 3-0 in our second game of the season when we were really still trying to figure ourselves out, but we really, really felt the competition we played led us up to a really good game against these guys, and we knew we could take it to them.”
CB South jumped out to an early lead when Jackson Tait scored his first goal of the game, but it took less than a minute for CB East to level the game on Frey’s first goal. Jackson Tait scored his second and once again CB East was able to tie it up on a goal from Finley Rennie. A third goal from Jackson Tait to complete the hat trick (this time on a PK) followed by a Lucas Tyson head ball goal gave CB South a 4-2 lead going into halftime.
The second half was filled with chaos as CB East scored early only to see AJ Okoniewski restore the 2-goal advantage. Then midway through the second half CB East was able to score three straight goals and complete the dramatic comeback and leave Titan Stadium with a 6-5 victory.
Scoring Summary
First Half –
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Tyler Jaskelewicz
Dan Frey (CBE) from Matt Walloff
Jackson Tait (CBS)
Finley Rennie (CBE) from Matt Walloff
Jackson Tait (CBS) penalty kick
Lucas Tyson (CBS) from Tyler Jaskelewicz
Second Half –
Jack Thibeault (CBE) from Aidan Pasternak
Dan Frey (CBE) from Matt Walloff
AJ Okoniewski (CBS) from Rowan McDonald
Dan Frey (CBE) penalty kick
Jack Thibeault (CBE)
CB East coach Josh Isaacsohn:
–First half: “We had a string of about five minutes where we got sloppy and fouled, and right before half, we had a foul, and they had a re-start direct kick, so we were actually down 4-2 at halftime.
“We just regrouped. Going from earlier in the year, we knew we were down to Haverford 3-0, and they’re a very good team, and we came back and won that 4-3. To the guys’ credit, they just kind of flushed the first half, we made some soccer adjustments, and they came out like bears in the second half.”
–Second-half comeback: “They went up 5-3, and this is when I thought, ‘Oh boy, is this game going to end 5-3? Then there was about 10-12 minutes of back-and-forth action.”
–Winning goal: “We had a quick transition play where we had a long throw to Jack Thibeault for the winning goal, and we ended up winning 6-5.
–Props: “The entire team including the bench for, one, knowing they could come back and truly showing the mental toughness to do that and two, dealing with the difficult environment. South was a bit tough between the players and the fans, and the boys really kept it together and were really good sports and I’m proud of them.
“If I could single out one player, it would be Dan Frey. Dan has slowly been coming off an injury and coming back, and he’s been getting better and better and better. We really challenged him this game to step up as a captain and a leader, and he ended up with a hat trick, and we’re just very, very happy with him.”
Central Bucks South coach Ed Brnardic:
“To start, we thank PA Rush for supporting us on Rush night at Titan Stadium. We are very thankful to the Rush organization – they do a great job training the youth in the community and preparing their players for high school soccer and beyond. Our success at CB South relies heavily on the development that occurs within their organization. We had several members of the community attend an exciting game that they will not forget for a long time.
“They were able to see us create some beautiful goals, but unfortunately, we conceded more goals than we scored in a very wild match. We’ve discussed many times that CB East is scary because of their efficiency on set plays and tonight all six of their goals came from set plays (2 corner kicks, 2 free kicks, a penalty kick and a long throw-in).
“We had a 4-2 lead and at halftime we talked about the danger of complacency with a 2-goal lead and the importance of not allowing a goal in the first few minutes. But then we immediately conceded off a corner kick. We released a lot of pressure when AJ scored to restore the 2-goal lead, and at that point in the game we needed to be able to close out the match. We should have been able to deaden the game and bleed out the clock, but the intensity of the game never dropped, and CB East was able to score 3 goals in 11 minutes. We had a few chances to tie it up after that but couldn’t convert.”
—Props: “All my props go to CB East tonight. Down 4-2 to start the second half, and then 5-3 with 20 minutes to go would be very challenging for most teams to overcome, but full credit to their players for keeping their composure and giving themselves a chance to complete the comeback. It was a special night for them.”
Up next: Central Bucks East will be on the road at Holy Ghost Prep for a non-league game Friday, and Central Bucks South will travel to Upper Dublin for a non-league crossover game Friday.
CB East 2 4 – 6
CB South 4 1 – 5
Souderton 3, Pennridge 0
Two goals in the second half broke open a close game at halftime, as Souderton rolled past rival Pennridge 3-0 in Colonial Division play Tuesday afternoon.
“(We) played a really good game in an always tough league battle,” said Indians coach Frank Demas. “Pennridge always brings a lot of energy and works really hard.
“Our guys just showed up and played well today.”
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Fernando Diaz (S) from Nicolas Barrales
Second Half –
Own goal (S)
Zyad Bouidi (S) from AJ Pisoni
Souderton coach Frank Demas:
“We had some good early chances that their goalkeeper made some great saves on, but eventually broke through when Barrales played a great ball through for Fernando Diaz to finish off, to take a 1-0 lead into half.
“Second half, Pennridge started well, but we settled down and started moving the ball.
Our second goal came from Pisoni putting a dangerous ball in the box, that got turned in by their defender.
“Third goal came when Pisoni hit a great shot that their goalkeeper made a great save on, but Zyad was ready to follow in it for his first ever varsity goal.
Up next: Souderton will host Central Bucks West Tuesday (7pm), and Pennridge will host Neshaminy in a non-league crossover game Friday.
Pennridge 0 0 – 0
Souderton 1 2 – 3
Central Bucks West 1, North Penn 0
John Vrettos scored a second-half goal, and CB West won its third straight game and avenged a previous loss to North Penn with a key road win on Tuesday.
“We came out pretty slow tonight, and while it got better as the game went on, we were nowhere near the best version of ourselves tonight,” said Bucks coach John Adair.
“With that said, I’m incredibly happy for the boys tonight and proud of how they stuck together and were committed defensively. The reality is that our game is often a weak link sport. You find a weakness in the opponent and exploit it. Everyone that played tonight stood up to the test and got the reward they deserved.”
Scoring Summary:
Second Half –
John Vrettos (CBW)
CB West coach John Adair:
–On the game: “We felt we were incredibly unlucky to not get the result at home earlier in the season and were focused every step of the way to making sure it went our way tonight.
“Chris’ teams always give you a tight and competitive game, and while we probably should’ve had more goals on the night, we saw just how close the margins can be when our goalkeeper, Alex Abbasi, came up with a big save in the final minutes.
“He’s a kid that you can’t help but be happy for. He’d admit to not having his best game against North Penn the first time around, but he was terrific tonight, claiming crosses, organizing, and shot-stopping in the crucial moments.”
–More Props: “John Vrettos deserves a lot of credit as well, not just for his goal, but he has been massive for us in the air defensively in midfield. Really happy for him to get a reward for all of his work that doesn’t often get noticed.
“And lastly, our back line and wingbacks tonight were terrific, every last one of them. We ask a lot of those players with the way that we want to play, and to pick up a clean sheet against a team like that is really pleasing to see.
“Our division is really difficult and no game is straight forward so we’re happy to start the second set of games with this result and continue to improve down the stretch.”

One goal proved enough for the Lions, who held off upset-minded Cheltenham in a Freedom Division game Tuesday.
“Today was another physical and rough (SOL) Freedom match,” said LM coach Bob Barnhart. “Cheltenham has really been a tough team for us to play over the years. They definitely play a physical and fast brand of soccer.
“I thought we had much of the possession today but struggled to find the right combinations in the final third.
