Central Bucks South 3, Central Bucks East 2
Riley Karpinski is not fond of the saying.
Between rival programs and schools, there’s always going to be some kind of banter, some sort of one-upmanship that permeates its way into every meeting. For Karpinski, a senior at CB South – the “newest” of the three Central Bucks high schools having opened in 2005 – it’s been hearing or seeing “CB Who?” any time her team has lost to one of its sister
schools.
Tuesday night, early in the second overtime, Karpinski made sure it wasn’t “CB Who” but CB South getting the spoils when she converted a penalty kick to lift the Titans over the host Patriots.
“What’s different this year is our mentality. We’ve always been known as ‘CB Who?’ and that really gets to us,” Karpinski said. “We want to prove people wrong about that. We didn’t beat East last year either time and we lost to them the first time this year, knowing as seniors this was may be our last time playing against them, we wanted to win it.”
Karpinski – who has committed to Virginia Tech – scored twice on Tuesday, the Titans jumping out to a 2-0 lead but having to dig deep after CB East fought back to make it a one-goal game at halftime before tying the score with 28 minutes left. South’s defense, led by center defenders Alana Peev and Peyton Karpinski, came up big several times and none bigger than the collective effort to keep the ball out following a Patriots corner kick early in the first overtime.
Peev, a senior who will play at St. Joe’s next fall, was not afraid to put a foot or her body on the line to disrupt an East attack that was aggressive all night. The Patriots, despite not having midfielder Ava Mignon and losing attacking mid Kiera Sleicher when she tweaked her ankle in the first half, generated seven corner kicks and asked quite a few questions of Titans keeper Morgan Sowash and her defenders.
“We gave it all we’ve got and we trusted each other,” Peev said. “Every player on that (East) team is very talented in many ways so I think for us, we had to give it all we’ve got. We’re very talented too and at the end of the day, with teams like this, it’s whoever wanted it more.”
Delaney Rowe opened the scoring, the South senior co-captain finding a bit of space off a recycle and settling the ball onto her left foot before rattling a shot just under the bar into the top corner with 27:23 left in the first half. Riley Karpinksi then doubled the lead, taking a rip on the run as her shot rose over the keeper but under the crossbar with 13:55 to half.
“We work on shooting a lot and we just try to find ways to get it in the back of the net,” Karpinski said. “I think we’re getting used to capitalizing on a lot of our opportunities.”
East cut the lead in half with 5:17 left when junior Taylor Roumy, who was a menace offensively all game, laid off a ball to Mackenize Peters who drove a good lefty take into the net. Roumy, fittingly, would be the one delivering the equalizer in the second half when she followed Mia Forney into the box and took over after Forney found her just before losing possession to slot home the finish.
Both goalkeepers made some big plays. Sowash turned away five shots while Patriots senior Aralynn Patterson was aggressive off her line, coming out to snare a Titans corner late in the first overtime and then taking the ball off the head of an attacker in the second before it could be directed at goal.
Tessa Hughes put in a solid shift for South in the midfield and Charlotte Manley gave the Titans a lift off the bench. For East, Ella Roumy and Mattie Williams covered a lot of ground and Peters seemed to constantly be around the ball.
Karpinski drew the foul inside the 18-yard box that gave South a chance to win the game at the spot and there wasn’t much suspense as to who would be taking the penalty kick.
“The main thing I try and do is take a deep breath, tell myself I can do this because I’ve done it before and focus on myself,” Karpinski said. “I try to tune out everything else around me and my mindset is just getting the ball in the back of the net.”

CB South senior Riley Karpinski on the win: “It showed we really had it in us. We knew it all along but we had to show it on the field, work together, we stayed positive when we got down and I think it only made us work harder to get it back and that’s what we did.”
–The Titans’ balance: “We all have talent in different areas of the field and it definitely shows. Different people score all the time and it’s helpful knowing we can all do that.”
CB South senior Alana Peev on the defense’s effort: “My mindset as a defender is ‘I’m going to that ball and I’m going to win the ball and no one else is,’ and I think everyone on our team had that mindset today.”
–Team energy: “This season, we’ve been focusing on being really positive and I think that’s really helped our outcomes. We’re not putting people down, we know we’re in this together.”
Up next: Central Bucks East will travel to Pennridge Tuesday (7pm), and Central Bucks South will host Plymouth Whitemarsh in a non-league crossover game Wednesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 1 0 0 – 2
Central Bucks West 2, North Penn 0
CB West coach Bree Benedict has known her senior captain Janelle Blokker for a long time.
So when the Bucks earned a potentially game-changing penalty kick late in regulation of what had been a drag-out duel between two hungry teams, Benedict saw her captain do what a player wearing that band should do. Blokker stepped up to the spot and converted the PK, putting West in position to pick up a pivotal win as it looks to run down a playoff spot in the season’s final stretch.
“That was a really special moment,” Benedict said. “I’ve known Janelle since she was six years old, and to see her now, 12 years later, leading this team with such composure and strength is just incredible. She’s been such a source of stability and consistency for us, proud is an understatement.”
Despite some tough results against them, the Bucks have battled all year, and it was the efforts of Olivia Barrett and Andy Friel that put Blokker on the painted spot 12 yards out in the first place. Much the same, it was Maura Duffy putting the extra effort in after an initial save to add a crucial insurance goal and similar efforts were there all over the field.
Scoring Summary
1st Half

2nd half
CBW – Janelle Blokker (PK) 68th
CBW – Maura Duffy 70th
CB West coach Bree Benedict: It was a really competitive, tough game. Credit to North Penn’s Allison Schall, who put in a relentless effort at right back and made life tough on us. Our breakthrough came when Andy Friel made a hustle play in midfield, won a tackle, and slipped Olivia Barrett in behind. Liv, fresh off her commitment to D-I Boston University for lacrosse, earned us a PK. Janelle, without hesitation, stepped up and buried it—tucked nicely into the corner with pace despite their keeper guessing right.”
–Insurance goal: “We added a second soon after when Maura Duffy refused to give up on a corner play, fighting through the scramble and finding a way to finish after their keeper’s save.”
–Props: “Sophie Borgmann and Emily Van Why were fantastic today. Allie Pisch and Anna McGrath were our iron women, covering so much ground and being awesome for us. Up top, our forwards worked tirelessly — Addie Hermann in particular had probably her best game yet. She was relentless, and her pressure opened up so much for Andy and Liv to be successful because North Penn had to account for her all night.”
West senior captain Janelle Blokker: “Liv battled hard all game and created the penalty for us. I was grateful for the chance to step up and convert and give us the lead. Then Maura came right back a couple minutes later to seal the win. I’m just so proud of everyone, every single player fought for this result today. That was West soccer.”
West forward Maura Duffy: “I was glad we had another corner opportunity and Anna served a great ball that Lauren got a touch on. Their keeper made a nice reaction save, but I was in the right spot to put it away. I’m happy I could help provide some extra insurance for the team.”
Up next: North Penn will host Central Bucks South Tuesday (7pm), and Central Bucks West will host Wissahickon in a non-league crossover game Friday.

Pennridge 3, Souderton 0
It was all of a month ago when the Rams traveled to Souderton with an uncharacteristic 0-2 record and having not scored a goal.
That night, they topped Big Red 3-1 and haven’t looked back since. Pennridge, playing its first match since Sept. 18, didn’t show any rust while running its win streak to nine in a row and doing so with a second straight shutout.
Senior Avery Runk, a Florida Atlantic recruit, was a catalyst with a pair of assists including one on the game winner and then connecting with her frequent goal scoring partner and fellow defender Natalie Walter on the final tally. Junior Gabriella “G” Howley also had a strong outing with a goal and an assist as the Rams tallied all three goals of restarts.
Scoring Summary
1st half
P – G Howley (Avery Runk) 28:58
2nd Half
P – Madigan Posey (G Howley) 15:53
P – Natalie Walter (Avery Runk) 6:17
Pennridge coach Lucas Kriner on the win: “Another nice league win. Souderton came out strong. Big praise to the girls for such a great effort. Everyone gave 100 percent with their minutes. Essentially three restart goals – corner kick, throw-in and set piece – which I credit to good concentration, execution and sheer determination in those moments. G, Nat and Madigan Posey’s goals were all super efforts. Nat showed a lot of courage running in behind even after 74 minutes of playing. It was a gutsy goal and served to a perfect spot by Avery.”
–DeMoss delivers: “Cece (senior goalkeeper Seretha DeMoss) held the ball really well for us in a couple of important passages when we were defending. When the goalkeeper gets possession, it takes the sting out of the opponent’s attack, and she proved again she’s a calming force and can help us breathe a sigh of relief once the danger is gone. That’s important against a team like Souderton.”
–Runk leads standouts: “Was really glad to see Avery with two assists tonight, on top of playing a really solid, sharp 80 minutes for us. She was excellent this afternoon. Also props to our midfielders for running and covering ground when we needed it. Emily Hensler and Madalyn Buchanan had a noticeable impact on the course of the game with key interceptions and tackles.”
Up next: Pennridge hosts Quakertown on Friday (7pm) and Souderton hosts Upper Dublin on Wednesday.

SOL Liberty
Plymouth Whitemarsh 1, Quakertown 0
The Colonials started the second half of SOL Liberty play the same as they’d started the first with a gritty win in a physically tough match against Quakertown.
PW kept its divisional record spotless with the win, but it was anything but easy. An early goal, set up by some terrific passing and a senior finish, gave the Colonials a narrow lead which their senior-laden defense worked hard to maintain the rest of the way.
Captain Marleigh Burton scored, then spent the rest of the match making sure it was all her team needed while senior keeper Olivia Bragg commanded a robust defensive effort.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
PW – Marleigh Burton (Lori Flannery) 10th
2nd Half
No Scoring
PW coach TJ DeLucia on the win: “Really strong win today. Quakertown is a tough, physical team with talent up front. We knew that they were going to come out ready to play after we won at their place in August. We had to weather the storm for the first seven to eight minutes.”
–Colonials score early: “Freshman Molly McEvoy received a ball and played freshman Lori Flannery an incredible through ball down the left side 10 minutes into the game. Lori took two touches to
the endline and played a ball into the box with her left foot. Senior captain Marleigh Burton made the far post run from 40 yards away and chips the ball over the goalkeeper’s head for her third goal of the season. Marleigh was really strong through the first five games of league play so it was great to see her on the scoresheet today. Her second half was as good as I’ve seen her play.”
–Managing the game: “The first half was back and forth but I really felt like we controlled play in the second half. We had multiple opportunities to score – had a few breakaways, hit crossbar on a free kick, etc.”
–Defense keeps a zero: “Goalkeeper Olivia Bragg was very confident today, coming off of her line. Our backline of seniors Maddie McLaughlin, Maddie McGuckien, Kaiane Jayo, and freshman JJ Lafferty were outstanding today. As I mentioned, Quakertown has talent up top and our defenders handled their 1v1 battles, covered for each other, and stayed focused for 80 minutes.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh visits Central Bucks South on Wednesday in a non-league crossover. Quakertown visits Pennridge on Friday (7pm) for an annual rivalry game.
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1 0 – 1
QUAKERTOWN 0 0 – 0
Upper Dublin 2, Wissahickon 0
Bridget DiMartile’s had a pretty productive fall.
The Upper Dublin junior is again a top option on the attacking end of the Flying Cardinal’s formation, her blend of size and speed off the wing a handful for any defender to deal with. It had been a while since UD actually played, but DiMartile even made that productive when she announced her commitment to play lacrosse at the University of Michigan on Sept. 21.
Back on the field for the first time in 12 days on Tuesday, DiMartile was right back at it as she scored both goals to start the second half of division play off with a win.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
UD – Bridget DiMartile (Emerson Smith) 13th
2nd Half
UD – Bridget DiMartile 46th
UD coach Darius Gbunblee on the win: “Great win to start the second half of our season. It’s been over a week since we played a game, so as expected we started a bit slow. Wissahickon did a good job disrupting our flow in the beginning but after the second goal we started playing our game. I want to shed the spotlight on our defense with another shutout and Bridget DiMartile who has been on fire the past few games.”
Up next: Upper Dublin travels to Souderton on Wednesday. Wissahickon visits Central Bucks West on Friday.
UPPER DUBLIN 1 1 – 2
WISSAHICKON 0 0 – 0
Abington 2, Hatboro-Horsham 0
Abington coach Rick Tompkins has been direct about it all season, his team simply hasn’t put away enough goals.
The Ghosts have generated chances, but the vast majority of them haven’t gone into the back of the net. Despite that, Abington entered the second half of division play not out of the hunt just yet and thanks to a couple much-needed goals from junior Addison Doyle and senior Alexis Whaley (Ursinus), the Ghosts also got a good win to help their cause.
A pair of first half goals stood up thanks to a solid defensive effort led by seniors Nya Riggs (Stony Brook) and Emily Kaeser in the second half as Abington claimed the second leg of the season series with the Hatters.
Scoring Summary
1st half
A – Addy Doyle (Giana Jones)
A – Alexis Whaley (Mia Sarro)
2nd Half
No Scoring
Abington coach Rick Tompkins on the win: “I felt we were on top of them for most of the game, we put a lot of pressure on and finished for a change. That was fortunate, Alexis (Whaley) is starting to come around, it’s about four games in a row now where she’s gotten some chances and started converting some and it was nice to see Addy Doyle convert one.”
–Doyle opens scoring: “She’s been hitting everything hard and over the top and we’re telling her take something off and put it in the corner, she did exactly that. She had a very good game. Giana Jones ran our practice exercise, she took the ball down to the endline, brought it across and Doyle finished it.”
–Whaley adds on: “It came from the back, Mia Sarro slotted the ball up to Alexis and she shot the ball early before the goalkeeper got set and it went in. We had a couple other good chances, I was pleased tonight and thought they played well.”
–Defensive center: “Our center backs are pretty steady. Nya (Riggs) does a lot of good things in the air and she’s pretty solid with the ball at her feet and Emily, she reminds so much of her sister (2025 Abington grad Sara Kaeser), she brings so much poise to the position and doesn’t make silly mistakes. It’s a good combination between the two of them.”
–Super sixes: “We did something a little different tonight, I call them the ‘Super Sixes,’ we played two defensive center mids but rotated it through four girls. It was (junior) Maired McMakin, (senior) Katie Egan, (senior) Lily Gerhard and (freshman) Jocelyn Gaymon and it was two on, two off every 10 minutes. Two of them, McMakin and Gaymon, were ball-winners and the other two, Egan and Gerhard, are distributors and neither had a turnover tonight, that just doesn’t happen. We’ll definitely try it again.”
Up next: Abington will travel to Cheltenham for a non-league crossover game Friday, and Hatboro-Horsham will host Harriton in a non-league game Friday.

Council Rock North 5, Bensalem 0
Council Rock North just keeps rolling along.
The Indians posted a third straight shutout, and their fifth in the last six games overall and ran their win streak to 12 matches to start the season.
Keagan Terry and Audrey Rogan each had a first half brace and Sarina Igval added a goal in the second half. Throughout the season, whichever players North has put on the field have tried to uphold the team’s identity and with a chance to rotate players in on Tuesday, that trend continued.
Scoring Summary
1st half
CRN – Keagan Terry (Maddie Ritter)
CRN – Audrey Rogan (Isabel Diaz)
CRN – Keagan Terry (Kinsely Smith)
CRN – Audrey Rogan (Peyton Perry)
2nd Half
CRN – Sarina Igval (Isabel Diaz)
CRN coach Gavin Flannigan on the match: Happy with our performance today and that we were able to score early to take the pressure out of the game. Unfortunately, Bensalem was suffering through some injuries today, but credit to them, they battled hard for 80 mins, Bob (Crawford) and his staff continue to coach them well, they have good ideas, some good patterns and they always try to play the game the right way.”
–First half scoring: “Our first goal came after three minutes when Maddie Ritter made a great overlapping run and crossed for Keagan Terry to score, after nine minutes Audrey Rogan finished off a cross from Isabel Diaz. I thought we played really well in the opening period, our possession was solid and our decision making in the final third was pretty good. We were able to add two more goals later in the first half when Keagan Terry scored off a Kinsley Smith assist and Audrey Rogan hit a nice long range shot on a smart lay off from Peyton Perry.”
–Team chips in for second half: “We continued to create some good moments, Sarina Igval finished off a nice through ball from Isabel Diaz a few minutes into the period, but that was the end of our scoring. We were able to use a lot of players today and I think the most pleasing part for us is that players coming in still recognize and try to do the same things in terms of our build up play and ideas.”
Up next: Council Rock North will travel to Lower Moreland for a non-league crossover game Friday, and Bensalem will host Plymouth Whitemarsh Friday in a non-league crossover game.

Neshaminy 3, Council Rock South 1
Neshaminy is getting into a good rhythm at a good time.
Since their 3-1 loss to Pennridge on Sept. 16, the team has won four straight games – three of them via shutout – and were able to match a CR South team looking to build some momentum of its own as SOL Patriot play began. Bri Garyah and Leah Kaczmarek have taken a lead role in fueling Neshaminy’s recent run of form, but the team is getting plenty of contributions.
Tuesday, that came in the form of Emerson Rooney – or Emmy within the team -who scored a goal before assisting the game-winner.
Neshaminy also authored another excellent second half, putting two goals on the board in the final 40 minutes to break up a halftime tie.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
N – Emerson Rooney (Bri Garyah )
CR South
2nd Half
N – Leah Kaczmarek (Emmy Rooney)
N – Bri Garyah (Lily Kaczmarek)
Neshaminy coach Josh Van Reed on the win: “It’s always tough the second time you see teams and South was coming off of a good win against Parkland this past weekend. We knew that this was going to be tough. Both teams were getting behind the defense and creating some chances.”
–Teams trade goals before half: “We were fortunate to score first off a free kick clear when the ball was played back in and Bri found Emmy after she collected the ball and knocked the ball in the top shelf. But Rock South kept pressing, creating chances and earned a corner at the end of the half that resulted in them scoring their equalizer.”
–Neshaminy adapts: “We made some adjustments at halftime and came out a bit more organized. Immediately created a lot more chances to score. Finally, we got one when Emmy broke free down the left wing and played a great ball across in the air and Leah came running into the box to volley it in. Then a couple minutes later we got another from a corner after the deflection was knocked down, Bri was there to tap it in for the insurance goal. The second half of games for us have been very strong all season and today was no different. Today I was happy to come away with a win against a good team.”
–Standouts: “(Goalkeeper) Alexis Barnes made some big saves when needed. Cassidy Tweedie played a really strong physical game in the middle today and Emerson Rooney was all over the place offensively for us.”
Up next: Neshaminy will host Pennsbury on Wednesday (4:30pm), and Council Rock South will host Harry S Truman on Tuesday.
NESHAMINY 1 2 – 3
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 0 – 1
Pennsbury 9, Harry S Truman 0
The Falcons played for the first time in eight days on Tuesday but it didn’t slow them down in picking up a divisional win.
Pennsbury has won three straight games since back-to-back losses to CB South and Plymouth Whitemarsh.
The Tigers, who had a strong win on Monday to follow a hard-earned draw last Friday, were slowed by injuries to two key players in Lila Giunta and Isabella Romer. Teammates stepped up in their absence.
Harry S Truman coach Brian Gilbert: “Despite the score, I saw a lot of good things today. Players worked hard to stay with their defensive assignments, and they needed to, given Pennsbury’s speed and skill. Hadley Rizzo continually hustled back deep into the defensive zone and moments after making one defensive play, she was back on the attack, nearly scoring a goal. There was another play that stood out where Pennsbury was on a quick offensive transition and two of their players made runs to get open. Midfielders Julianna Romer and Azra Biyik communicated and stayed with their mark, allowing our defender Jada Akins to make the play on the ball carrier. These little things don’t always show up on the scoreboard, but the progression is noticeable.”
–Players stepping up: “Players were cast into positions that they were not used to. Freshman Harley Palencik and Junior Monica Almanza were repositioned into center midfield and stopper positions and played strong defense for almost the entire second half. Sophomore Natalie Klimowicz displayed her versatility dropping back to play center fullback in Romer’s absence. Offensively, Laila Lorenti and Gwen Marston left nothing on the field, but the team just couldn’t find the back of the net. It is not easy to learn a position you have not practiced yet alone try for the first time at the varsity level and against a team of Pennsbury’s caliber. It would have been an easy excuse to give up, but not these girls.”
Up next: Pennsbury will travel to Neshaminy Wednesday (4:30pm), and Harry S Truman will be on the road at Council Rock South Tuesday (7pm).

Lower Moreland 3, Cheltenham 0
The Lions were able to put themselves in a good position early, no small task against the strong play of Panthers goalkeeper Caroline Graham.
Lower Moreland, which shared a three-way tie for the division lead halfway through, netted three goals in the first 20 minutes with Shannon Mahon leading the way with a brace. From there, LM’s midfield controlled play and kept the division table the same as it was when the day began.

LM – Shannon Mahon (Emma Leibert)
LM – Ella Frey (Ella Rossiter)
2nd Half

LM coach Todd Hill on the win: “In spite of a really strong performance from Cheltenham’s goalie, we were able to earn a 3-0 win today. This was our first game in 11 days, and I think our girls did a good job at coming out and playing a really good brand of soccer in spite of the long break. I thought midfielders Quinn Rozanski, Sammy Pennisi, Gabby Sellecchia, Dara Chartock, Evie O’Brien, Haylee Huber and Jordyn Fox did a really good job moving the ball and initiating our attack.”
–Lions scoring chances: “Our attackers put lots of pressure on Cheltenham’s defense early on, which led to three goals in the first 20 minutes of the game. The first came nine minutes in when junior Quinn Rozanski slid a ball to junior Shannon Mahon who finished with a nice shot. Shannon scored her second goal two minutes later from a nice pass from sophomore Emma Leibert. The third goal came 18 minutes in when freshman wing back Ella Rossiter served freshman attacker Ella Fey who finished our scoring with a nice goal of her own.”

William Tennent 2, Upper Moreland 1
The gap between the end of the first half of SOL Freedom play and the start of the second felt like a long one for the Panthers.
A tough crossover slate, coupled with some injuries to key players, led to five straight losses. Tennent’s first match with Upper Moreland was a wild, back-and-forth, seven-goal thriller and while there weren’t as many offensive fireworks on Tuesday, it was still a tight game to the end with Rian Gilligan’s winner coming in the final minutes.
Tennent is starting to get healthy and just at the right time as the Panthers entered the day in a three-way tie for the division lead.

WT Megan Pacchioli 4 saves
William Tennent coach Elise Jara: “This was a hard-fought and much needed win for us. We have been overcome with injuries as of late and are just starting to get healthy again. Nice game back for junior Leila Santos, who assisted on both of our goals. Using her speed down the line she was able to connect with freshman Kaitlyn D’Ambra for our first goal in the 24th minute of the first half then a similar cross that was put in with a nice left-footed shot from sophomore Rian Gilligan in the final minutes of the second half. Strong game in goal by sophomore Megan Pacchioli.”
Upper Moreland coach Lisa Benvenuto: “We came out ready to play today, moving the ball well through our midfield and creating several dangerous chances. Tennent struck first, but we didn’t panic. At halftime, we adjusted our formation and put more pressure on their back line. That paid off when Leah Hawk played a great through ball to Keiley Hawk, who stayed composed, beat the keeper, and tied the game. The battle continued from there, and I’m proud of how hard our girls competed from start to finish. We had strong contributions from our bench, with everyone stepping up when called upon. Gracie Costello had a standout game in goal, while Aubrey Scarpitti, Maggie Brophy, Eva Gorrell, Leah King, and Keiley Hawk also made big impacts.”
