COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 5, BENSALEM 0
Josh Coehlo scored a hat trick, and Diego Soto and Darius DeGregorio assisted on each other’s goals for two-point efforts as Council Rock South blanked Bensalem 5-0 in Tuesday’s Patriot Division game.
Noah Selekman recorded the shutout in goal for the Golden Hawks.
By the numbers: Council Rock South: Josh Coehlo (3 goals), Diego Soto (1 goal, 1 assist), Darius DeGregorio (1 goal, 1 assist), Sean Davis (1 assist), Owen Lubieski (1 assist).
Council Rock South coach Alan Nicholl:
–Getting defensive: “I thought center back Timmy Grabowski was excellent and negated any offensive threat that Bensalem threw at us. He is as every bit responsible for the clean-sheet as goalkeeper Noah Selekman.”
—Offensive stars: “It’s hard to overlook Josh’s effort with 3 goals, but I thought Diego was excellent also, with his vision and composure that seemed to be at the center of everything we did.”
Up next: South will host Pennsbury at 3:30 pm Thursday. Bensalem will visit Neshaminy at 4 pm Thursday.
Council Rock South 3 2 – 5
Bensalem 0 0 – 0
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4, PENNSBURY 0
Matt Brozyna had a hand – or foot – in all three Council Rock North first-half goals in the Indians’ 4-0 win over Pennsbury in Tuesday’s Patriot Division game. Brozyna scored off an assist from Logan Adams to open the scoring, then returned the favor by assisting on Adams’ goal 20 minutes later. Brozyna added his second goal just four minutes later off a setup from Will Loudon.

“The other thing I’d like to highlight is our bench. We had guys come off the bench and really contribute as a whole.”

Neshaminy coach Tom Foley: “We put them away early like we stressed. We played hard, we knocked the ball around really well, we got everyone in the game, and everyone who got in the game did a really nice job, but the only downer of the day is, even with the win, we’ll tumble like six spots in the power ratings. But overall, we played a nice game today, and everyone got at least 20-25 minutes, which was a plus, so that was the good news.”

Colonial Division
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0
In a local rivalry showdown that also served as a Kick ALS event, Central Bucks East topped archrival Central Bucks West 2-0 in Tuesday’s Colonial Division showdown.
“It was a beautiful night,” said East coach Josh Isaacsohn.
“We had a Kick ALS event, which was a fundraiser for a local educator and soccer guy who is unfortunately suffering from the disease. Both schools just came together. It was awesome – just all kinds of raffles, kids playing soccer at halftime. It was just a very good vibe for a tough situation and a tough cause. Major props to everybody involved.”
The game itself was scoreless at halftime, but the Patriots powered in two goals in a 5-minute span to take the lead. Alden Iurato assisted on Aiden Pasternak’s goal, then Iurato added one of his own a few minutes later.

Aidan Pasternak (CBE) assisted by Dan Frey and Alden Iurato, 71st minute
Alden Iurato (CBE), 76th minute
Central Bucks East coach Josh Isaacsohn: “It was a really good game, very close first half. I thought we had a bit more of the possession and a few more
opportunities and just didn’t finish them. It was a very good first half of soccer all around. John (Adair, West coach) had his guys organized and ready to go – gave some pretty dangerous balls out of the back. They serve out of the back really well and bombed some balls in that gave us a few issues.
“We kind of regrouped at halftime and knew that we were right on the doorstep. We kept our foot on the gas pedal.”
—Man of the Match: “Eventually, in the 71st minute, it was Dan Frey to Alden Iurato, and basically, the West keeper kind of bobbled it, and Aidan Pasternak banged it home.
“And then really unbelievable, five minutes later with three minutes left in the game, our man of the match, Alden Iurato, just picked up and gathered a weak clearance off a direct kick and absolutely rifled a left-footed shot into the left side of the netting. It was just absolutely brilliant.”
—Props: “Dan Frey played a great game. He’s coming back off an injury, and he’s really starting to show himself. Aidan Pasternak up top and just our entire defense, including Ethan Cruz being added to that. We have four or five guys back there that just did a tremendous job and held it down.
“Again, it was just a collective team effort, and I’m just really proud of how these guys showed up tonight.”

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 5, PENNRIDGE 2
In an early afternoon Colonial Division battle, Central Bucks South outscored Pennridge 5-2. It was a close game at halftime with South holding onto a 1-0 advantage.
Early in the second half, Pennridge leveled by scoring from a free kick. But it only took South a couple minutes to retake control of the game, scoring 4 straight before Pennridge scored the final goal on a penalty kick with less than 30 seconds remaining in the match.

Jackson Tait (CBS) from Evan Nguyen
Leo Propato (CBS)
Sam Turco (P)
Central Bucks South coach Ed Brnardic: “The score was close for much of the game, but I thought we had the better of the chances. We came up against a hot goaltender who made some excellent saves. We were thankful to get on the board first when midway through the first half AJ Okoniewski played a nice ball in to Jackson Tait, who headed it past the goalie, and we took that lead into the halftime break.
“After Pennridge tied the game on a long distance free kick early in the second half, it looked like they could take the momentum but we were able to respond within a couple minutes to retake the lead.”
—Props: “Congratulations to Leo Propato for scoring his first varsity goal. We had set up our corner kick and the ball landed on Finn Commins’ foot. Finn shot towards the goal and beat the keeper but it was cleared off the line by the Pennridge defense. Leo reacted quickly and put the ball into the goal.
“Alex Centafont was our MVP from our freshman team last year and we were looking to get him some minutes this year. Injuries today forced the issue and Alex came in and he looks ready to play at the varsity level. He was solid defensively and dangerous in the attack.”
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapinski:
–On the game: “We actually played a pretty solid first half. We kept them out of too many dangerous areas. They had a few chances and were able to get a ball in behind to go up 1-0, but we were happy with our first half.
“We came out fired up for the second half and got on the score sheet within 5 minutes. Jace Soto scored a free kick from about 30 yards out. It was an awesome hit. But South forced us into some mistakes and we gave up a few poor goals that took us out of it. The boys didn’t give up and drew a penalty with 20 seconds left in the game. Sam Turco scored the penalty.”

Souderton coach Frank Demas: “We pulled out a really hard fought win against North Penn tonight. The second half, we came out really strong, battling for every ball. It was a complete team effort. There are so many guys I shout out for today. Every player put in a strong shift. Our defense and goalkeeper keeping a clean sheet against that team is really impressive.
“The breakthrough came around the 60th minute, when Nick Barrales played a great ball across the box for Liam Manners to finish off. We then put another one in, when Barrales again put the ball in a dangerous area for Fernando Diaz to run onto and finish.”
—Props: “Trevor Aldefer had a huge save midway through the first half to keep it 0-0.
“Liam Shaw again was everywhere for us.”

WISSAHICKON 3, QUAKERTOWN 1
Despite controlling play for most of the first half, Wissahickon found itself knotted at 1-1 going into halftime after Quakertown scored with 6.2 seconds left in the opening frame.
But the Trojans didn’t panic. They continued to keep up the pressure, and were rewarded with goals from Tyler Philip and Jack Horan 11 minutes apart to pull away and earn the 3-1 win over the Panthers and earn their first Liberty Division win of the season.
Scoring summary
First half
Own goal, 30th minute
Quakertown goal, 40th minute
Second half
Tyler Philip (W) 57th minute
Jack Horan (W) 68th minute
Wissahickon coach Stuart Malcolm: “We had a lot of pressure in the first half. Eventually, we scored off a corner with 10 minutes to go in the first half, a corner that went in off of one of their players. A ball got served into the area, we were crashing the net, and no one claimed it. They scored with 6.2 seconds left in the first half – a shot got away from the keeper, and they got the rebound. We had been playing well, created a lot of opportunities, and we ended the half tied up.
“We talked about it. The energy was better than it was on Friday. We said, ‘Look, we’re getting opportunities. We just need to keep working hard and doing the things that we’re doing and just recognize we’ve got to be careful defensively for the breakaways that could occur.”
—Second-half scoring: “We got our second goal around the 57th minute. It was Tyler Philip – it was a scramble in front of the box, which we’d had three or four already where it just bounced around and hit people. Fortunately, this one he managed to get on the end and knock the ball in.
“Our third goal was Jack Horan, and he is someone we just pulled up from JV. He basically ran through and hit it – the goalkeeper made a save. He shot again, the goalkeeper made a save. On the third attempt, he managed to get it into the roof of the goal. We had some more chances, but it stayed at 3-1.”
—Props: “Luke Frankenfield seemed to enjoy himself tonight. He was in a new position in terms of the way we set ourselves up. Jack Horan has come up (from JV) before but only got a few minutes. This is the first time he’s with us since the start. He didn’t start the game, but he came on first in the second half, and he had a good game.
“All the back line did well. Including Luke (Frankenfield), it was Brayden Dehner, Jonathan Schiffman, and Malachi Hodges. They did a nice job.”
—A win in the books: “It was important to get this one. We got a win the beginning of the season. We were really, really unfortunate not to get a win against William Tennent. It was a goal with 10 seconds left on the clock. That was a disappointing tie, but it was what it was. We played Springfield, and we had a really good game against them, but they were just better than us. The Tennent game we went to double overtime, the Springfield game we went to overtime, and they beat us 2-1. On Thursday, we came out to play Upper Dublin, we hung in there. We were losing 2-0, we got a goal back, started playing better, but they got a couple of goals late. It was a pretty ugly score. I apologized to the players at the end. I said, ‘That’s on me for scheduling four games in six days, and it came back to bite us a little bit.’
“We were disappointed with our game against PW. We had a lot of opportunities in that game, and we came out on the short end of a 2-1 score. If you come out flat against Abington, they’re going to punish you. They’re relentless in their style of play. They did a number on us on Friday. We had to talk about it today before the game, ‘Let’s take it a game at a time. It starts today, let’s have a better effort,’ and we did. Hopefully, that will help them moving forward. We’ll see how it goes. See what shows up on Thursday.”
Up next: The Trojans will visit Hatboro-Horsham at 3:30 pm Thursday. Quakertown will host Abington at 7 pm Thursday.
Quakertown 1 0 – 1

Freedom Division
LOWER MORELAND 2, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
As the season goes on, this could very well be a game that Lower Moreland points to as a contest where the Lions stepped up in the face of adversity and showed their grit and resilience.
William Tennent tied the game at 1-1 with 13 minutes to go, but the undefeated Lions – ranked second in the District 1 3A standings – responded with the go-ahead goal with five minutes left on the clock to pull out an impressive 2-1 win over the Panthers in Tuesday’s Freedom Division matchup.
Lower Moreland coach Bob Barnhart: “(Tennent coach) Angelo Albanese always played us tough and playing a solid 4A team is always a good dipstick test for us. We took a 1-0 lead into halftime and we told to boys to expect heavy pressure and did Tennent ever do that. The whole coaching staff over there has their entire team bought into their system and they are very well-coached and trained.
“They scored with about 13 minutes to go in the second half on a ball that we usually are able to handle and got misplayed. I was very impressed with how we reacted to being scored on and getting tied up so late in a very tough match. We scored with 5 minutes to go on a rocket shot from about 35 yards out – it was a beautifully placed shot. Their goalie played phenomenal all game and it was just a shot that required a very tough save.”
—Props: “Sean Greenleaf in goal stood on his head today making some key saves at huge moments in the game. If he doesn’t come up with those saves, I think the result is different today, but that’s why you play the games.”
—Looking ahead: “We are going to take this one and hopefully learn some things about ourselves and get ready for Upper Moreland Thursday and a tough three-game stretch next week into late in the month with the crossover schedule coming up. I know the three crossover schools have us on their radar now, so we will need to do some very intensive training to prepare for them.”
Up next: The Lions put their undefeated mark on the line when they host rival Upper Moreland at 3:30 pm Thursday. Tennent visits New Hope-Solebury at 7 pm Thursday.

CHELTENHAM 1, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 0
For a team plagued with injuries throughout the squad, the Cheltenham lads started this game matching whatever New Hope threw at them. The first 20 minutes were evenly contested with both teams withstanding the other team’s attacks.
The breakthrough came with around 20 minutes to play in the opening half when a perfectly weighted through ball of about 70 yards was delivered up the field from Ean Justice to Billy Fishman, who was in stride to run onto the pass, carry the ball inside the box before slotting it calmly into the bottom left corner of the net, leaving the keeper with no chance of saving it. The home crowd supporters erupted into a deafening cheer, while the players celebrated the goal amongst themselves,
The remaining 20 minutes were a little more tense, but the Cheltenham lads held the 1-0 lead going in at halftime. The second half started much the same as the first half ended, as New Hope was applying some pressure on Cheltenham.
Scoring summary
First half
Billy Fishman (C) assisted by Ean Justice
Cheltenham coach Danny Shields:
–Props: “Wolf Brown came up huge on many of the crosses and shots that came his way. The Cheltenham defense gave everything they had to keep their opposition at bay.
“A special and emphatic mention needs to go out the Cheltenham central defending duo, Ean Justice and Emile Chanoine, who both had fantastic games. Both of these stalwarts had their part to play in clearing dangerous aerial balls, along with cutting out the dangerous runs in behind the defense, along with supporting the outside backs.
“Alan Fazio played well on the left side of defense, bringing balls up from the back to support the midfield and forwards. Dylan Miller, on the right back position, improved as the second half continued, gaining more confidence with runs up the right side of the field supplying the forwards and midfielders with accurate passing.
“Special mention also needs to be given to our midfield of Jayden Sumitra, Aldin Sabljic, Ruben Villatoro and Harry Ruben-Reynolds. These four midfielders covered so much ground, supporting both defense and offense, overcoming fatigue, for the sake of the team.
“Jayce Howard and Billy Fishman ran New Hope’s defense into the ground. Billy scored the only goal of the game and Jayce was unlucky on a couple of occasions, coming close with shots. Overall, this was one the best games that every player had a part to play in and did, securing a 1-0 win.”
Up next: Cheltenham will travel to Springfield Twp on Thursday, and New Hope-Solebury will host William Tennent.
