COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-20)
The Indians rolled to a sweep in Wednesday’s battle of neighboring rivals.
Jason Yakimiv had a productive night at the net, finishing with eight kills (.818 hitting percentage) to go along with two blocks and two aces. Josh Hinton added nine kills, two digs, one ace and five blocks, and Will Stollsteimer had six kills, one dig and one ace. Dalton Abrahamsen (17 assists, one ace, one dig, .5 blocks) and Logan Fuglestad (10 assists, two digs) shared the setting duties for the Indians. Eric Van Thuyne led the defense with 12 digs to go along with one ace. Also contributing were Nick Reich (five kills, two blocks), Will Desautelle (four kills, three aces), Sean Lyon (two kills, one block) Robby Ward (four assists, one dig) and Aaron Knotts (one dig).
For the Golden Hawks, Ross Sweed had 14 kills.
Rock North (12-2, 7-2 SOL) will host Abington for its Senior Night match on Friday.
PENNSBURY 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-21)
In Wednesday’s battle of neighboring rivals, David Levey (11 kills, seven digs, one block), Sean Sweeney (nine kills, five digs, one bock) and Kenny Hickman (seven kills, three aces, four blocks) led a balanced Falcon attack. Setter Kevin Killoran had 19 assists to go along with two digs and two blocks.
Also contributing were Mason Reilley (two kills, three blocks), James Greenland (four kills, one dig), Josh Leon (two kills, two digs), Michael Geary (14 assists, one ace) and Brad Edwards (20 digs, two assists).
NORTH PENN 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-9)
Setter Mark Elias handed out 26 assists and also had three aces in the Knights’ sweep of the Flying Cardinals. Connor Sloan (eight kills), Harsh Boghara (six kills) and Steven Landes (six kills) led a balanced North Penn attack. Jake Walter added five kills and six digs.
BENSALEM 3, CHELTENHAM 1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-23)
The Owls were led by Paul Bas (17 kills, two aces, three blocks) and setter Ronak Patel (38 assists, four kills, three blocks). Vic Paskaru (nine kills), Aaron Banks (seven kills) and Sam Makidon (seven kills) all stepped up big for the Owls, who improved to 6-0 overall (3-9 SOL).
QUAKERTOWN 3, SOUDERTON 1 (25-15, 25-12, 24-26, 25-16)
The Panthers fought off a determined Indian squad to win in four sets. Dylan Flor (15 kills, 10 digs, two aces), Mike Dierolf (11 kills, 16 digs), Coulton Terry (eight kills, three blocks), Lucas Schan (eight kills, six blocks, five digs) and Zach Dierolf (five kills, three blocks) all made important contributions at the net. Xavier Villanueva had 41 assists and 13 digs. Libero Nick Wesley had 15 digs, and Jess Prusch added six digs.
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-15)
Setter Bradley Nase had 32 assists and six digs in the Rams’ sweep of the visiting Bucks. Max McVaugh led the defense with 17 digs. Ben Chinnici (16 kills, two aces) and Devon Rice (13 kills, 12 digs, four aces) had big nights at the net. Henry Savage (four kills, three blocks) and Josiah Friesen (three kills, two blocks) also made important contributions at the net for a deep Pennridge squad.
For the Bucks, libero Sam Winderman had 12 digs. Daniel Klapper (four kills, five digs) and Ryan Alu (three kills, eight digs) led the Bucks at the net. Setter Matt Douple had nine assists and five digs.
Pennridge (13-0) will host North Penn on Friday (6:30 p.m.).
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, ABINGTON 1 (25-21, 21-25, 27-25, 26-24)
Not a whole lot separated the Panthers and Ghosts in Wednesday’s match. After the two teams split the first two sets by identical 25-21 scores, the Panthers won the next two – both by just two points.
Jake Milnazik (13 kills, two aces, two blocks), Will Towle (eight kills) and Tom Del Conte (five kills, two aces, two blocks) led the Panthers at the net. Logan Sklut had seven digs and one ace.
For the Ghosts, Matt Penecale had 12 kills, and Jay Bynum added seven kills and seven blocks. Setter Tim Seydel had 27 assists.
Tuesday, April 28
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-19)
The Indians rolled to a sweep of the Vikings in a non-league match Tuesday. Josh Hinton led the Indians at the net with 12 kills to go along with two aces and five digs. Also contributing were Will Stollsteimer (four kills, four aces, four digs), Jason Yakimiv (our kills, one dig, one block, one ace) and Will Desautelle (four kills, one ace, one block).
Setter Dalton Abrahamsen had a busy night, handing out 27 assists to go along with three digs, two kills, two aces and one block. Eric Van Thuyne had two digs, one ace and one assist. Sean Lyon and Tommy Angelina both had two kills while Aaron Knotts had two digs and Alex Saraceno, one dig.
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 2 (17-25, 25-21, 28-30, 25-20, 16-14)
The Golden Hawks rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two sets and earned the hard fought win. Ross Sweed had huge night at the net, finishing with 24 kills to go along with four blocks, three aces and 14 digs. Tyler Hondros added five kills, one ace and 10 digs. Rob Reifsteck had five kills, one block and two digs, and Rob Kessel added nine kills, six blocks and one ace. Mike Jakobowski had four blocks and one kill.
For the Owls, Paul Bas had 20 kills and setter Ronak Patel had 35 assists. Vick Paskaru (nine kills) and Sam Makidon (six kills) also had strong games for the Owls, who fell to 5-10 overall (2-9 SOL).
