After an emotional victory Monday evening against Central Bucks South, the Patriots came out a little flat. Although East scored the first two goals of the game and held a lead of 2-0 after the first quarter, Downingtown West fought back to score three unanswered goals and held a 3-2 lead at the half.
Each team scored two goals in the third quarter as Downingtown West led by a score of 5 – 4. However, with their backs up against the wall, the Patriots responded, and the fourth quarter was all East. The Patriots caught fire when they had to and scored four goals in the final quarter to pull away with an 8-6 road victory.
Matt Vetter led the Patriots in scoring with three goals, Owen Griffin and Ryan Brown each had two goals while Matt Brown chipped in with one goal to round out the scoring. Ryan Brown scored a spectacular behind the back over the shoulder goal, which will certainly make the 2015 highlight reel.
Jack Auteri, who had one assist, won 5-of-11 face-offs while Matt Krumenacker won 1-of-3.
Matt Brown, Austin Prime, Dustin Buchanan each scooped up three ground balls, while Mike Eveland snagged two. Griffin, Vetter, Ryan Brown, Logan Nelson, David Gresscott, Grant Porter, Mike Ott, Bryan McIntosh and Calmen Tihansky each had one.
Dustin Buchanan had four caused turnovers and Mike Eveland was credited with three.
Goalie, Sean McGovern, was strong in the cage with seven saves.
Central Bucks East improved their record to 13-1. The Patriots’ next game is Monday, May 4, against Central Bucks West.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 13, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 1
The Bucks owned Wednesday’s non-league game at LC from start to finish, opening up a 5-0 lead after one quarter and extending that to 11-0 at the intermission. It was a 13-0 game before the Crusaders scored a fourth quarter goal to break up the Bucks’ shutout bid.
Clark Hawes led the Bucks with five goals and one assist. Will Ross added a hat trick, and Joey Rockovich contributed two goals and one assist. Shane Early, Luke Durkin and Jason Willis each had one goal. Durkin, Morgan Kratzke and Brendan Gervais each chipped in an assist.
Durkin won 8-of-13 face-offs in a contest that saw the Bucks hold a 26-11 advantage in shots.
Steve Hogan turned away all six shots he faced. Asher Mithoefer had one save.

SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 11, CHELTENHAM 0
The Spartans led by just a 1-0 score at the end of one quarter but reeled off six unanswered goals in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 7-0 lead.
Cheltenham’s Thomas Hipwell won 7-of-11 face-offs. Panther goalie David Friedman was credited with 12 saves.

The Vikings earned a hard fought non-league win, opening up a 9-6 halftime lead and holding on to win by that margin.
Lizzy Goernemann led a balanced attack with four goals while Anna Davis had a hat trick. Julie Reinert, Hailey O’Malley, Quinn O’Malley and Allison Shuster each added two goals. Francesca Lindelow added a single goal to close out the scoring for the Vikings.
Jordan Cabahug-Almonte had 11 saves in goal for the Vikings.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 15, JENKINTOWN 8
Coach Kelly White lauded the strong performances on attack of Maggie Vetter (five goals) and Kaitlyn Mikalic (four goals) in Wednesday’s non-league win over the Drakes.
Katelyn Stout added two goals and an assist, and Bella Ridolfi also had two goals. Mel Brian added a goal and an assist, and Steph Ott, Whitney Dietz and Sara Donnelly each had an assist.
Senior goalie Alana Rivas turned away seven shots.
