Council Rock South assistant coach Zach Orenstein: “It was a great game today. We were very pleased with the boys’ determination to climb back into the game and tie it up with only a few minutes left. It took a lot of courage. We went down 1-0 in the first half, but it was followed by some really nice play where we connected passes and turned the tides a bit in our favor. We just couldn’t get that final touch.
“We made a few adjustments at halftime. It was great to see them continue to fight as the clock ticked. With under five minutes left, Stephen Murray took the ball about 30 yards down the flank and serviced a wonderful diagonal ball to Josh Coehlo. Josh’s first touch took him in on goal for the finish. It was a nice reward for their hard work.
“Overtime went back and forth. It was a very good game. Credit to Upper Dublin, they have a nice team.”
—Props: “We got some great minutes from Brody Kushner today. He did a great job bolstering our midfield. We were really happy with the minutes he gave us throughout the match.
“Our keeper, Noah Selekman, was terrific. He made a point-blank save in overtime to keep the game alive. He has been excellent for us this year.”
Upper Dublin coach Noah Johnson: “It was a good game, kind of rough from us. Our heads just weren’t fully in it. A break is needed definitely. I’m kind of glad the holiday is coming up. It gives us some extra time off to relax and rest. We have to keep chopping away at this.”

Lower Moreland coach Todd Hill: “We had a nice win against a good GFS team to end a challenging week of play. It is not often that you play your best game after paying two tough games earlier in the week, but that is exactly what our girls did today. In fact, this was some of the best soccer our girls have played. They moved the ball so well that it kept GFS’s dangerous attackers from ever getting a lot of momentum. Honestly, it was fun to watch our girls from the sideline.”
—Props: “Shannon Mahon put tons of pressure on Germantown’s defense early and it paid off with two goals in the first 15 minutes of the game, one assisted by Gabby Sellecchia and one by Emma Leibert. And then Emma scored a goal of her own in the second half to give us a three-goal lead.
“Our defense played an outstanding game today against some talented attackers. Senior Violet Levin, junior Izzy O’Brien, junior Agnes Kroll, freshman Ella Rossiter, and junior Sienna Smolczynski played their most complete game of the year.
“Additionally, midfielders Sammy Pennisi and Gabby Sellecchia played outstanding games in the midfield today.”
Up next: Lower Moreland will return to action at Cheltenham at 3:30 Sept 30.

Pennsbury coach Jenna Peters: “Great team effort today! It’s been a tough week with three games in five days, but you can see the growth every time we hit the field. The defense has been absolutely solid, and it was awesome to see the shutout today!”
—Props: “Huge props to Clare Caldaro, Izzy DiMatia, Jordyn Patrick, and Piper Curtin for their communication and teamwork, working as a defensive unit has really paid off. Madison Feroni and Haley Shleiben were both rock solid in goal, staying vocal and making sure we stayed organized in the back. Offensively, they all did a great job keeping possession and getting shots off up top. Abbie Ellis and Sydney Becker did a great job combining and high pressing when needed.”
