GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 0, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2
It was scoreless game until late in the game when Brennan Franklin flicked a ball to Anthony Bice who redirected the pass to a running Christian Canally who went 1v1 vs the Germantown keeper. Canally cooly placed the ball in the bottom left to give CB South the lead. A couple minutes later it was Evan Jaskelewicz who intercepted a pass along the backline to also go 1v1 with the keeper and scoring to give CB South the 2-0 victory.

COACH ED BRNARDIC:
“We were thrilled to come away with the victory today against an extremely disciplined and well-coached Germantown Academy team. We are tired – not just physically but mentally. It’s been a long two weeks, and you could see some uncharacteristic and lazy decisions from some of our regular starters today. Given the recent grind, I’m actually surprised that this didn’t happen sooner, but we were able to escape with the 2-0 victory, thanks to the heroics of Christian Canally. It’s been a long time since we had a Saturday off, so we are going to take advantage of the free weekend and we will step away from soccer for a couple days and re-charge our batteries.”
PROPS:
“Today was Christian Canally’s game. Period.
“It is so hard to get minutes on this team with our starting strikers playing so well, especially in tight games. Christian shows a maturity that you don’t expect from a high school student, but something that you would see from an experienced adult. While most players would be frustrated wanting more minutes, Canally comes to train with a higher level of focus and effort. On Tuesday, he was by far the best player at practice, and we coaches left practice on Tuesday night wishing/knowing that he was going to do something special this week. With 15 minutes left in the game, we had a hunch, and we rotated our regular forwards out to get Christian into the game, and he came though big time. Watching him score was my happiest moment of the season so far.”

One goal was all it took as Alexis Whaley scored off a Viv Siravo assist, and Addy Hayden posted a shutout as Abington topped Springfield Twp 1-0 in Friday’s crossover game.
Abington coach Rick Tompkins: “We’re making progress as a group. Alexis Whaley scored our goal on a nice pass from Viv Siravo. We got a shutout by Addy Hayden and a stout effort from our defense.”

Upper Dublin 5, Dock Mennonite Academy 2
The Flying Cardinals ended a long week with an emphatic outing against last season’s PIAA Class A state champions.
UD’s entire front line got involved offensively, the group continuing to showcase balance and unselfishness while igniting a fast start. On the back end, the Cardinals defense had another strong outing, containing a Pioneers front that contains one of the state’s best scorers from a season ago in sophomore Ashley Brown.
Scoring Summary
First Half
Ava Shohen (UD) from Rosie Sitman, 6th minute
Bridget DiMartile (UD) from Peyton Ward, 13th minute
Second Half
Peyton Ward (UD), 46th minute
DMA goal
Erin Seabrook (UD) from Rosie Sitman, 49th minute
Rosie Sitman (UD) from Abby O’Meara, 52nd minute
DMA goal
Upper Dublin coach John Topper: “We knew at the end of a long week with three games, it’d be important to start strong, and Rosie and Ava linked up for a beautiful goal followed shortly by Bridget DiMartile, so that really set the tone for the game. I thought we controlled the play for the better part of the first half, then Peyton had a wonderful individual display of skill to set herself up for a shot which she buried from outside the 18 to start our second half.
“We felt like that put us in a good spot but they answered pretty quickly in the 48th then Erin Seabrook hit a great right-footed shot from outside the box that shifted momentum back our way.”
On the defense’s efforts: “Our backs played phenomenal, they put a lot of miles on their legs this week but I thought our center backs – Brooke Ellner and Olivia Broome – have been absolutely shutdown. They have been consistent and we’re really starting to build our identity around them.”
Next up: The Cardinals (8-2, 5-0 Liberty) will host Harry S Truman at 3:30 pm Monday.
Upper Dublin 2 3 – 5
Dock Mennonite 0 2 – 2
Council Rock North 2, Villa Joseph Marie 0
Playing in its third game in four days, Council Rock North settled down after a shaky start and gutted out a 2-0 victory over Villa Joseph Marie in Friday’s nonleague game.
A Sara Tyler header (Audrey Rogan assist) gave North a 1-0 lead with about 10 minutes left in the first half, then Mia Cairone set up Rogan for a goal of her own to give the Indians the 2-0 advantage. Tavi Copestick posted a shutout in goal for the Indians.
Scoring Summary
First Half
Sara Tyler (CRN) from Audrey Rogan
Second Half
Audrey Rogan (CRN) from Mia Cairone
Council Rock North coach Gavin Flannigan: “It’s been a long week with three games in four days, and after the late loss (Thursday) night, it’s always tough to tell how a team would bounce back, but I have to give credit to the girls for working through today’s game even though they were tired and frustrated at times. I think both teams were struggling at times, and it was a battle of attrition. For us, our depth was a big factor in gaining the win and credit to the girls for working through their tiredness and the conditions.”
–The scoring: “We were a little slow to start, but we eventually started to settle down and put some passes together. Both teams had some moments in the first half, but we were lucky to break through when Audrey Rogan crossed for Sara Tyler to head home with about 10 minutes left. In the second half, VJM came out a little stronger than us, and we had to deal with some longer shots and also rely on a great clearance in front of the goal from Tavi Copestick to maintain our lead. Our depth began to really pay off, and Mia Cairone was able to slip a pass through to Audrey Rogan for the clinching goal.”
–Props: “Our depth was crucial today. We played 20 girls to try and keep things fresh. I thought Addison Martin and Keagen Terry gave us some really good minutes, as well as Sarina Igval up front. Audrey Rogan has been a constant source of energy for us this season and today was no different, she really deserved her goal at the end of the game.”
Next up: North (8-3, 4-1 Patriot) will visit Wissahickon at 3:30 pm Monday.
Council Rock North 1 1 – 2
Villa Joseph Marie 0 0 – 0
Lower Moreland 4, Delaware County Christian School 0
Goalkeeper Guilianna Fogarty and her defensive mates posted Lower Moreland’s seventh shutout of the season as the Lions blanked DCCC in Friday’s nonleague matchup.
Lower Moreland got on the board with Kenna Rozanski’s goal, the only one of the first half. The Lions tacked on three second-half goals to pull away.
Scoring Summary
First Half
Kenna Rozanski (LM) from Nikki Sahl
Second Half
Emma Leibert (LM) from Nikki Sahl
Quinn Rozanski (LM) from Ruby Levin
Shannon Mahon (LM) from Kenna Rozanski
Lower Moreland coach Todd Hill: “Tonight was a challenging win. Delco put a lot of pressure on us and disrupted our play in the first half. As a result, we were pretty sloppy for the first 20 minutes of the game.
“We managed only one goal in the first half off a corner kick to Kenna Rozanski. We went into halftime kind of frustrated. We found ourselves on edge as we processed the half, but then some of the girls noticed we were getting down on each other and rallied together, while Assistant Coach Pat Brady started hyping the girls up. We went into the second half with a lot more energy. I respect our girls for rallying together and working together to encourage one another towards much better play. Though it was a sloppy start, the girls did well, playing with energy in the second half and came away with a strong win.”
On the shutout: “Our defense continued to get the job done, rallying around goalkeeper Guilianna Fogarty as the group got its seventh shutout of the season. They continue to be consistent in their play. Hannah Wasserstrom played a really smart game in the back line tonight.”
On the offense: “Ruby Levin put lots of pressure on Delco’s defensive unit. She is really quick and often hard to contain. Additionally, the Rozanski sisters (Kenna and Quinn) connected with one another several times with some really effective combination passes.”
Next up: Lower Moreland (9-1, 5-0 Freedom) will host Central Bucks West at 4 pm Monday.
