Wissahickon coach Lee Ann Marchesi: “We played both sides of the ball the whole game. After letting in a breakaway goal, we didn’t hang our heads, we adjusted. We saw North Penn keep their intensity so we kept ours. The defense communicated well and set up the midfield. Our midfield communicated well and ignited our attack. It was another wonderful team effort!”
Props: “Our midfield – Layla Keller, Cami Lutte and Noelle Koop – communicated well and ignited our attack.”
North Penn coach Shannon McCracken: “We played a strong game but did not execute on scoring opportunities or capitalize on offensive penalty corners. Statistically, we had more time of possession and more shots but credit to Wissahickon for being efficient in the attacking circle.”
Next up: North Penn (7-3, 3-2 Colonial) will look to get back to their winning ways when they visit Plymouth Whitemarsh at 3:30 pm Tuesday. Wissahickon (8-2-1, 4-1 Liberty) will host Central Bucks West at 3:30 pm Tuesday.

Third Quarter
Kylie Blank (B) from Guiana Passquarella 13:15

Fourth Quarter – No score
Bensalem coach Gary Kubik: “Kylie Blank continued her scoring with a rebound goal in the third quarter to tie the game up at 1-1. Guiana Passquarella had the assist with a nice run into the circle. It was Blank’s fifth varsity goal this year as a freshman. The assist for Pasquarella was her third on the season, along with her nine goals. But Hatboro-Horsham responded with a goal of their own just minutes later. The offense was able to get at least four corners but were unable to put any away today.”
Props: “Veronica Lennon had her legacy game at defensive midfield, and freshman midfielder Paige Dando was solid on her side of the field. The defense of Casey Bush, Maggie McLaughlin and sophomore Reagan Colgan played good enough to win, along with fellow defenders Lucciana Krecko and Olivia Cervantes.”
Next up: The Hatters (5-6, 0-5 Liberty) will host Pennridge at 3:45 pm Tuesday. Bensalem (4-7, 1-4 Patriot) will return to action hosting Council Rock North at 3:30 pm Thursday.

Central Bucks East coach Emma Rosenthal: “Tonight we honored our 15 seniors: Ava Firely, Morgan Volans, Aly McIsaac, Esha Kalavadiya, Anna Daly, Josie Lauro, Maddie Mandia, Kasey Walker, Avery McCann, Amelia Trabachino, Liv Golden, Abby DiAmico, Hannah Kephart, Emma Weisel, and Sage King. It was really an apt Senior Night as seniors scored four of our five goals and kept the vibe high the whole night. We’ve really been working on moving the ball better and attacking up the sides, and we were super successful with that tonight.”
Props: “We had a lot of people that didn’t score tonight, but their great game play contributed to making those goals happen – Brynn Bonargo, Josie Lauro, Aly McIsaac, and Sydney Lafferty. In the backfield, Katie Szczypiorski, Maddie Mandia, and Morgan Harrington made some amazing plays to catalyze that offense. Camryn Puhalla had another amazing day with 13 saves in the goal. Overall, I’m just incredibly proud of the senior class and the entire team.”
Next up: Council Rock North (5-5, 4-1 Patriot) will host Quakertown at 3:30 pm Monday. East (4-6-2, 2-3 Colonial) will visit Upper Dublin for a 3:30 pm Tuesday game.

Central Bucks South 0, Council Rock South 0 (OT)
Both goalkeepers were called on to make five saves and neither allowed a goal as Central Bucks South battled Council Rock South to a scoreless tie in Friday’s SOL crossover game.
The Titans held an 11-5 advantage in penalty corners and a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
Central Bucks South coach Kelli Chioffe: “This was a physical game, especially when it went to OT. Neither team could score. We did not capitalize on our corners and did not finish in the circle today. It was great to have midfielder Ella Haag back in the game today. She was sidelined due to an injury a few weeks ago. We will continue to make some adjustments on offense. Council Rock South defense did a great job of keeping us from scoring.”
Council Rock South coach Kelly Cappellano: “Our defense does a great job of playing each game and we consistently put a great fight on our end. Carly Conetta is great on our defensive corners, Sarah Freeman crosses the ball nicely for us and Kelly Longmore and Mia Schink had a few bursts down the side that we were unable to capitalize on. Our defense keeps us in the game.”
Next up: The Titans (4-6-1, 1-4 Colonial) will be on the road at Abington at 3:30 pm Monday. The Golden Hawks (4-4-2, 3-2 Patriot) will host Springfield Twp at 5 pm Tuesday.

Pennsbury 3, Springfield Twp 1
(Article submitted by Pennsbury field hockey)
The Pennsbury Falcons are flying into the weekend on a four-game winning streak and ready to take a well-deserved breath.
They hopped aboard the bus Friday afternoon to travel to Springfield Township High School to face the Spartans. This was the first meeting between the two teams and resulted in another win for the black and orange. The Falcons struck first halfway through the first quarter on a tipped pass in front of the cage.
“One thing our girls are doing really well is moving the ball up the field together, using great passing combinations,” said head coach, Traci Curtis. “Coach Riley and I were waiting for them to get into a groove today – we started off a little slowly again and had to find our center and calibrate a bit.
“Once they got into rhythm, the ball moved up the field beautifully. Angelina Kenney worked with Abby Iacona to get the pass across the circle and Regan Rodriguez finished with a nice goal.”
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead and that held going into the second quarter. The second quarter was a little flat on both sides of the ball, and despite PHS dominating on attack, they could not seem to make anything happen. With a slim one-goal lead, Pennsbury was looking for a spark. With three minutes left before halftime, a spark ignited with an awesome deflected goal from senior, Allison Goldfarb.
“The second goal was really beautiful and came at just the right time,” Curtis said. “Abby Iacona sent a bullet across the circle, and Goldfarb was in the perfect spot in ready position to pop it up right passed the goalie at full speed.”
Pennsbury took a 2-0 lead going into halftime and was looking to add some cushion, knowing the Spartans were in no way going to give up easily. And they didn’t. As the third quarter clocked clicked down to 46 seconds, Springfield took advantage of a PHS defensive breakdown and Gracie Buchhoez dribbled through defenders and shot one that got by goalie, Abby McCole.
“It was a moment of letdown and a huge lesson learned,” said Curtis. “We need to do a better job in denying teams those last-minute opportunities.
“It was now a 2-1 game going into the final quarter, but we could have held them at zero with a more focused performance in that final minute. That is all the mental side of the moment and something we need to sharpen.”
The Falcons were not finished as they added their third goal six minutes into the fourth quarter. Senior Riley Askey assisted Angelina Kenney who found an opening to the keeper’s left and scored.
Despite the 3-1 lead, PHS was not backing down, making sure to secure the win before getting back on the bus. They did just that for the remaining six minutes, holding the Spartans to a scoreless quarter and taking the win with them back to Pennsbury.
“It’s so great to see a variety of players scoring for us,” said Curtis. “The team has really embraced our theme, The Power of ONE, and takes the responsibility of that seriously. We had standout performances from Cailyn Reilly in the back with her patient and confident play, and Ayla Alon played great defense for us as well. Ryan Burdette and Abby Iacona contributed to almost every play and supported their teammates in all that they did.”
Pennsbury (7-3, 2-3 SOL) will host Upper Moreland on Tuesday and Truman on Thursday next week. Springfield Twp (6-5, 5-1) will travel to Council Rock South Tuesday (5 pm).
