On a day when most teams were happy to take their game indoors, the Titans and Redskins braved the elements for a non-league contest. The game was played in a torrential downpour and called at halftime because of dangerous conditions.
The Redskins scored a pair of goals in the first half. Jamie Pennington – who had a hand in both goals – put the Redskins on the scoreboard with a rocket from the top of the circle with 17:36 remaining in the first half. Then it was Pennington setting up a goal by Peyton Ritchey late in the half.
“We came out strong today— we knew we had to, playing a strong South team,” Neshaminy coach Jamie Pinto said.
This was the last game of the regular season, and I think it was a good game to end with and start to prepare for districts.
“Jamie Pennington and Peyton Ritchey worked well together to create scoring opportunities. Madi Neiman played strong at mid, and defensively Brooke Cordisco, Dylan Beegal, Avery McGinty, and Asia Barnard were solid in the back.”
The Redskins held an edge in shots (6-4) and corners (3-2).
Jillian Heilig recorded four saves in goal for the Titans.
Neshaminy (15-3, 12-0 SOL) moved up to sixth in the latest District One 3A power rankings while Central Bucks South (10-8, 6-6) is 16th.
