PENNRIDGE 4, QUAKERTOWN 0
The Rams received goals from four different players on their way to a win in Saturday night’s non-league opener against their neighboring rival.
“Great start to our season,” Pennridge coach Becky Spahr said. “We were able to create a lot of scoring chances with quick passing and off ball movement.
“We need to focus on finishing in front of cage, but overall, we worked well as a team and I am happy with today’s result.”
Liz Frisch put the Rams on the board, scoring on the rebound of a shot, and it was Alyssa Gobrecht (Leah Verespy assist) scoring her first varsity goal. Elsa Parsons found the cage with her varsity goal, using a Payton Muth assist, and the Rams led 3-0. Hannah Capo closed out the scoring with a goal that was assist by Verespy and Muth.
Goalkeepers Maia Machado and Molly Bross combined for the shutout. Machado was credited with three saves and Bross had a pair of saves.
Pennridge (1-0) will host North Penn in its SOL opener on Tuesday (7 p.m.)
