Pennsbury 0, Unionville 0
The Falcons and host Longhorns battled to a draw in the capper to Unionville’s Labor Day Kickoff event Saturday.
“I felt we controlled the game quite well for 60 to 70 minutes,” Pennsbury assistant coach Stephen “Tomo” Thompson said. “Our defense limited them to mostly long-distance efforts on goal.”
A day after drawing Avon Grove in a match that featured six combined goals, the Falcons couldn’t replicate the same scoring touch on Saturday.
“Our lack of cutting edge in the final third, along with questionable decision-making in front of goal, allowed Unionville to grow into the game which saw our back line absorbing more pressure than they should have,” Thompson said.
Thompson noted Unionville was able to stretch the game out in the later stages and created a few opportunities to steal the win, but Pennsbury was able to hold strong and keep the shutout.
“Those are the types of games that we have to learn to kill off early if we are going to have so much possession,” Thompson said.
Pennsbury (1-0-1) will play its home opener on Wednesday August 31 against Harry S Truman
