Brynn Bonargo made sure her senior class had plenty of reasons to celebrate, connecting on a hat trick and propelling the Patriots to the Senior Night win. Her first goal came with just under six minutes remaining in the first quarter, and that 1-0 lead stood until midway through the third quarter.
Sam Lafferty assisted on a pair and the third came on a penalty stroke in a win that included contributions from 
all seven seniors.

“It was a great win to have on Senior Night with all seniors contributing the entire game. We had some really nice breakaways and were able to capitalize on our corners that we got as a result of those breakaways.
“Seniors (Sam Lafferty, Brynn Bonargo, Emerson McFeely, Jules Zipperlen, Nell Zietsman, Maddie Young, and Izzy Stevens) all contributed to tonight’s win.
“Nell Zietsman was all over the field tonight and really made some nice plays happen in the midfield. Sam Lafferty and Jules Zipperlen did an amazing job in the backfield stepping up and attributing to the shutout anchored by three saves from goalkeeper Nora Kanyok. Emerson McFeely had a some really great breakaway plays, forcing corners and being a catalyst on attack. Maddie Young had some great step up defense in the midfield. Izzy Stevens had some great runs up the sidelines and distributed the ball really well. Brynn Bonargo was able to finish into the cage three times tonight and continued to showcase her skill despite consistent pressure.”

“Wagner recruit Brynn Bonargo had herself a game today against the visiting Owls. She scored on 2 corners and finished the game off with a stroke. She also accounted for 2 cards, one a 5:00 minute yellow. Both teams 
played well throughout the field today. The difference was in the corner play where East outnumbered Bensalem 6-5. The Owls did a pretty good job of slowing Bonargo down in the open field, but the skills came out on the corners.
–Props: “The defense of Abby Cheung, Veronica Lennon, Lexi Hartman, Reagan Colgan, and Addie Walsh played well enough. Anjali Guda and Emma Welsford played a huge role of containing the Patriots through the middle of the field. Tierney Sayers had probably her best game this year helping to shut down the left side of the powerful East offense.
“Hailey Fricke played an excellent game today in goal, stopping many shots while on the ground and her clears were outstanding.”

The Falcons rallied from a 2-1 deficit early in the third quarter to reel off four unanswered goals on their way to the impressive win. Ryan Burdette scored two goals and assisted on two other to lead the visiting Falcons. Autumn Wagner connected on a hat trick to lead the Indians.

This was probably the best effort we put together as a team thus far this season. We’re still dealing with a lot of injuries, so we had to shuffle players around and change the lineup throughout the game. Pennsbury had a speedy forward line and beat us in transition a number of times. They were strong finishers once they reached their offensive circle. We’re still struggling a bit in that area, but I was pleased by the number of shots we took. I’m really proud of how well we stayed with a very good team.

One step at a time.
The Falcons are putting one foot in front of the other with intention, focus, and grit. They have not played on their home turf in two weeks and will not return to Falcon Field until Monday, Oct. 5. It doesn’t seem to matter as they continue to knock off opponents in the midst of a nine-game winning streak with a record of 9-1 overall.
Today it was a one-hour trip to Souderton High School to face the Big Red – an opponent Pennsbury has never beaten since head coach Traci Curtis took over in 2019. That first year as coach, PHS lost to the Indians 6-0. In 2021 the Falcons fell 7-0, and in 2022, it was another 6-0 loss. In 2023, Pennsbury notched one goal but lost 6-1 and they didn’t face each other in 2024.
Last season the orange and black was once again dominated by Souderton, losing 3-0, but closing the goals scored against gap. In five meetings, Pennsbury scored one goal against the Indians – today PHS scored five and defeated them 5-3. The Falcons are showing up with a new look – the look of a program that has been built brick-by-brick for eight years with the blood, sweat, and tears of everyone who has come through, and they are using that history as fuel to ignite their path.
“Today’s win was unbelievable and the result of amazing connectedness and heart,” stated Coach Curtis. “We are playing really beautiful hockey from end to end, and it is exciting to watch. These girls operate as one and they just keep getting better and better.”
The first quarter of the game was a scoreless defensive battle. Both teams had opportunities but were not able to capitalize on them and finish. It was goose eggs on the scoreboard going into the second quarter.
“We had some breakaways that didn’t pan out, but we were creating attack and also defending their pressure on us,” said Curtis. “Souderton is an extremely strong team with great stick skills, high IQ, and solid defense.
“Their passing was precise, and they utilized the aerial really well throughout the game. We were able to remain true to our game plan and be extremely patient in every layer. That was key for us today. Patience is essential and they applied that to their playing across the board.”
Pennsbury senior captain Abby Iacona broke the seal halfway through the second quarter when she connected on an unassisted shot to put her team up 1-0.
“The work Iacona does in the middle to create space, possess the ball, distribute, assist and score is top notch. She is a game changer and playmaker, and today her goal lit a fire in her team that never extinguished,” explained Curtis.
Three minutes later, Souderton’s Autumn Wagner tied it up 1-1 with a tip past goalkeeper Amelia Fernandes. The game remained tied 1-1 going into halftime, and there were sure signs of a tough battle ahead for another thirty minutes.
Souderton came out of the halftime gates ready to go, and at the 12:50 mark, Wagner struck again, putting the Big Red up 2-1.
“When they scored that goal, my thoughts immediately went to those past games against this team that got away from us so easily,” said Curtis. “I could not ignore that voice in my ear reminding me of all of the losses – we had always been outplayed and out coached by them.”
Seniors Ryan Burdette and Regan Rodriguez quieted those thoughts with a great connection four minutes later, tying it up 2-2.
“Our defense (Joley Hohman, Allie Fouss, and Payton Worth, Cailyn Reilly) was doing an incredible job making huge stops and beginning the attack from the backfield,” said Curtis. “In addition, our goalkeeper, Amelia Fernandes, was making key saves to stifle Souderton’s offensive pressure.
“Midfielders, Ava Pinto and Lilly Alon were handling the outside lanes, and Burdette and Iacona were workhorses all over the field. That full field teamwork ultimately got the ball up to Burdette who assisted the Rodriguez goal to tie.”
Five minutes later, with 4:24 left in the third quarter, Ryan Burdette weaved her way through the defense and dodged the goalie to put the Falcons ahead 3-2.
“Once again, Burdette was like a tornado in the center, pushing her way through with the help of her teammate’s passing and off ball movement,” Curtis said. “She dodged the goalie beautifully, which has been something she has been working on literally for four years – the goalie dodge curse was broken! We were playing to our strengths all over the field and putting together a really awesome game as a whole.
“The third quarter was proving not to be a time we let down, in fact, the past few games it’s been the quarter that we level up and take over. Burdette’s goalie dodge to put us ahead gave us a great confidence boost and you could see our performance continue to come together at an even higher level.”
The third quarter ended with the Falcons up 3-2.
There was a ton of hockey left to play as the fourth quarter began. Fifteen minutes is forever in field hockey! The Falcons had the possession and showed no signs of backing down. Souderton was hungry and playing with fierce skill and smarts. It was a one-goal game, and you could feel the tension in the air. Pennsbury, sticking to their style and running on all adrenaline, found the back of the net three minutes after the starting whistle. Once again, with a full team effort, the ball got to Burdette, who found senior forward Nandi Ntshalintshali. Ntshalintshai worked her way off ball to be where she needed to be and made a heads-up play, tapping one in to put the Falcons up by two, 4-2.
Ryan Burdette scored the Falcons’ third unanswered goal at the 6:42 mark in the final quarter on a beautiful reverse stick shot from the top. The orange and black went up 5-2 and coaches Traci Curtis and Lori Riley could feel the weight of those past losses lifting and dissipating into thin air. What used to feel almost impossible was becoming incredibly possible right before their eyes.
And as the clock ticked down, PHS senior Cailyn Reilly continued to make huge heads-up plays in the middle as DCM, the defense worked as one united solid unit with one heartbeat, Fernandes protected her cage with fury (a dozen saves), and the middies and attack worked relentlessly to pass and move and cut and shoot. At the final buzzer, Pennsbury achieved its longest winning streak in eight years – nine in a row.
Souderton’s Wagner scored her hat trick goal (and the only goals for the red and white) with less than a minute to go in the game, but it wasn’t enough with the Falcon’s five on the board. PHS walked away with the 5-3 victory powered by a new kind of belief in themselves and a sense of pride for leaving it all on the field yet again.
One step at a time.
The next step for Pennsbury will be to travel to Quakertown on Thursday to face the undefeated, fierce Panthers.

Jenna Butler gave the Titans a 1-0 lead in the opening quarter, and they never looked back. By halftime, the Titans led 4-0 with four different players each scoring a goal.
For the Titans, the six-goal outburst was especially welcome after being shut out in back-to-back games.

–The game: “It felt good to hear the back of the cage after two games being shut out. Jenna Butler got the ball rolling for us tonight, and our offensive pressure didn’t ease up. We were able to see many different players earn points tonight. We had multi point nights from Emily Aldrich, Paige Bauman, Peyton Lendzinski, and Butler. It is a fun game when you are able to get your entire bench in the game.
“With some big-name starters having injuries or illnesses, it is great to be confident in our bench and our team that we can pull together and play some great hockey. The passing was wonderful to see as they moved up and transferred this evening.
“Good start to what is the opening busy week for us, five games in eight days will test us, but I know this team can meet this challenge.”

Wilson spent the second quarter setting up her teammates as the Cards broke a scoreless tie with four unanswered goals. Abby Rucker scored the first two – both were assisted by Wilson, who connected on the third and then assisted Ellie Kuznits on the fourth.

As coaches, we felt like the game was very even, but yet we lost 5-1. So, we will need to analyze what our issues are as a team, but also congrats to UD for taking advantage of their opportunities.
At halftime, when we were losing, we discussed some changes to how the defense was playing and they really came out and did exactly what the coaches asked! Hannah Gardner, Charlotte Russo, and Reese Purcell were relentless with getting the ball out of the circle. Bridget Hess was outstanding today with both her free hits and her stops and moving the ball up the field
In the second half, Lyla Soleau, Harper Richmond, Mia Hood and Molly Gould played awesome off the bench!. Giana Morrison, Gianna Jones and Kourtney Malome played well at midfield.
On the attack, MJ Reilly and Olivia Torres were dominant, pushing the ball up the field and had opportunities, but it just didn’t go their way. MJ, Kourtney and Olivia work so well together in their positions, then we need connections in the circle to finish for the score.
In the third quarter, Harper Richmond had a hard pass into the circle and Soph Riehle gathered it and connected for a goal to cut UD’s lead. Soph and Taylor Pagano are very good with finishing in the circle!
PENNRIDGE 6, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
The Lady Rams picked up their first win of the season, earning a shutout of the visiting Tigers. Maria Beans scored an unassisted goal during corner play two minutes into the game, and the Rams were off and running, opening up a 3-0 halftime lead on their way to the win. It was the first varsity goal for Beans, and this one stood as a game-winner.
“The night was also filled with individual milestones,” Pennridge coach Chris Chookagian said. “Several players tallied their first varsity points, while junior goalkeeper Ella Ricci surpassed
the 100-career save mark, a testament to her hard work and consistency in the cage.”

“This was a complete team win and an excellent example of the progress this group continues to make as we move through the middle of the season. The team is beginning to put all the pieces together, and tonight’s result reflected the commitment and growth we’ve seen throughout the year.
–Credit to Tigers’ goalie: “A special acknowledgment goes to the Truman goalkeeper, who recorded an incredible 40 saves on 46 shots. That performance kept the game competitive and was one of the most impressive individual efforts we’ve seen this season in competition.”

–The game: “Today’s game was a great team effort that highlighted some really nice passing combinations and finishes on the cage. Gracie Kerns scored the first three goals of the game, all in the first quarter (9:59, 4:35, 3:14) off some well-placed shots to the corners of the cage. Leah Caucci received a beautiful pass from Sammy Callan in the circle which left her one on one with the goalkeeper. She finished with a strong shot with 56 seconds remaining in the first quarter to give us a 4-0 lead. Katie Guarino scored both of her goals in the second quarter (12:26 and 5:36), one of which was a beautiful tip. Leah Caucci added her second goal at the 9:21 mark of the third quarter. Quinn Burns, Sophie Kerns, and Julz Scherzer all had strong games in the midfield to control the pace of play.”

ABINGTON 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
Abington came out very strong today against a good William Tennent team. Abby Loscalzo got things going in the first quarter with a goal off a corner at the 8:41 mark. Devon Doyle helped put the game away for Abington by scoring two quick goals in the 3rd quarter, 4 minutes apart.
Abington coach Janine Larr: “We worked really hard at practice on Monday, with finishing in the circle and getting offensive opportunities after a tough 1-0 OT loss to Springfield on Friday. We have been playing well defensively against teams, but haven’t had a spark on offense, yet.
“The girls changed that today and really worked hard to keep the ball up past their 25-yard line for a majority of the game. The whole team really stepped up and played well and were integral in getting this win. We had several subs come in today and give quality minutes, and seniors Morgan Gillette and Gwen Judge helped control the tempo of the game with key plays in the midfield.
“Keely Gallagher recorded the win, playing three quarters in goal, while back-up goalie, Claire Enama, finished the game for us in goal for the fourth quarter. We are hoping to take this momentum into our next game on Thursday against Bensalem for our Dream Crazy Game at home.”

The Trojans erupted for three second-quarter goals, breaking a scoreless tie on their way to the 5-0 win.
