Non-league
NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 51, ST. HUBERT’S 17
Emily Wilson and Reagan Chrencik each scored 14 points and Gabby D’Agostino added 12 to lead the visiting Lions to the decisive non-league win.
“We did a really good job today of matching St Hubert’s physicality,” said assistant coach John Turner, who was filling in for coach Steve Polinsky (work obligation) “They made us work for each rebound and each shot on every possession. I felt the game was a much more competitive affair than the final score would indicate.”
The Lions – behind six points from Chrencik – led 12-6 after one quarter and took a 22-8 advantage into halftime. Chrencik’s 12 points led the Lions in the half.
Turner lauded the efforts of his players.
“We emphasized contesting every shot from the perimeter, and I was especially happy with how well Gabby D’Agostino did limiting Hubert’s sharpshooter Mia Tobin,” the Lions’ assistant said. “She has hit 16 3s in their team’s last two games, and Gabby never let her get going today.
“Emily Wilson played her best all-around game of the season. She had a bunch of steals and tips on defense along with Reagan Chrencik, who led us in scoring with 15 points.
“Reagan was her usual self today. A tough leader who set the tone early with a three-pointer and an old fashioned three-point play in the first quarter.”
New Hope-Solebury (12-7, 10-3 SOL) will travel to Lower Moreland on Tuesday.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 68, NEW FOUNDATIONS CHARTER 23
The Golden Hawks held just a 16-14 lead after one quarter, but they blew the game wide open in the second when they exploded for 31 points and allowed just three to go into halftime with a lopsided 46-15 lead. Lily Bross was the catalyst in the Golden Hawks’ second quarter tear, scoring all 16 of her points in the frame.
“It was another early Saturday game for us off of a tough Friday night loss,” Rock South coach Blair Klumpp said. “I thought we were more active this week defensively than last Saturday. KP and Smed (Katie Purpura and Karissa Smedley) set the tone, getting deflections early on, and we were able to force some turnovers and get out in transition. Kat (Kathryn O’Kane), (Lily) Bross, (Lil) Metrick, KP and Fi (Fiona Reckner) did a really good job getting us looks in transition.
“Cam (Gregory) hit a few 3s in first half, and Bross had all 16 of her points in the second quarter. The ball was moving, and we did a better job than last night, stepping into spaces for shots.
The Golden Hawks, according to their coach, had 15 assists on 22 field goals. Kathryn O’Kane’s five assists led the Hawks while Bross and Smedley each had three each. Purpura had a pair of helpers.
“We were more aggressive getting to the rim,” Klumpp said. “Darcy (Leight) had a good game in the boards for us and is always looking to make the right play and extra pass. It was good to get some of our swing players some extended run as well (Sarah & Maria Freeman, Miranda Cantor and Emerson Gunther).
“Our challenge for them moving forward is to match the effort/intensity/focus we had in Bensalem this week and be consistent daily in those areas. I need to be more consistent in those areas as well and make sure we are emphasizing the correct things we want to focus.”
Bross led the Golden Hawks with 16 point, which included four 3-pointers. Lil Metrick added 11 points with a pair of 3s. Cam Gregory also had 11, including three 3s, and she also had three rebounds. Smedley also had three boards. Purpura led the Golden Hawks defensively with five steals while O’Kane, Bross and Reckner had three each. Leight led the Hawks under the boards with six rebounds.

VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 45, WILLIAM TENNENT 42
Less than 24 hours after extending Freedom Division leader Upper Moreland to the limit in a 48-44 loss, the Panthers found themselves back on the court, this time for a non-league game against Villa Joseph Marie.
For two quarters, the Panthers had things going their way, opening up a 28-21 halftime lead. The second half belonged to the Jems, who outscored the Panther 24-14 to earn the win.
“This is a disappointing loss especially after how well we played Friday night,” Tennent coach Laura Whitney said. “We were hoping to bounce back today, but unfortunately, we didn’t get it done.
“There’s always that fear when you’re coming off a tough loss in less than 24 hours that you’re going to have tired legs or a letdown. Both were contributing factors this afternoon. We made some mistakes the second half, and Villa hit some big shots. I also felt like we lacked a sense of urgency the second half.
“Despite all of that, we had chances to win the game but couldn’t score when we needed to. We probably had two 3s in the fourth quarter that were halfway down and poped back out, along with three layups that rolled around the rim and off. Our inconsistency from the free throw line also came back to bite us. It’s been a problem all season. We can’t expect to win close games when you don’t do enough of the little things.”
The Panthers, who trailed 15-14 after one quarter, outscored the Jems 14-6 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a seven-point lead. Morgan Volz scored eight points to lead the Panthers in the first half while Avery Kocur added seven.
The Jems erased the Panthers’ lead with a 14-6 third quarter, and Tennent never could make up the ground they lost.
Halie Staub led the Panthers with 13 points, which included three 3-pointers. She had eight of her points in the second half. Volz finished with 10 points while Kocur had eight, and Alyssa Lewicki, seven points.
The Panthers connected on just 3-of-9 at the foul line.

KENNETT 50, QUAKERTOWN 41
The Panthers wrapped up a difficult week with a road trip to Kennett, falling to the Blue Demons in a non-league contest. Carolyn Sipprell led the Panthers with 19 points, and Kayla Sicher had 11.
“It was another tough day for us as we are battling injuries and players being sick,” coach Brittany Bamford said. “Many of our players did a nice job rebounding tonight which we didn’t do as well as we could have last night (in a loss to PW).”
Quakertown fell behind 14-4 in the first quarter and spent the rest of the game playing catch up. They never could get over hump.
“Carolyn (Sipprell) attacked their zone and finished under the basket with 12 rebounds,” Bamford said. “Katie Catalano had six rebounds and two assists. Addyson Davis did a nice job inbounding the ball today and also had eight rebounds. Kayla Sicher had six offensive rebounds to go along with her 11 points today. This loss hurt as it impacts the possibility for us to go to playoffs. Hopefully we can rest up and recover before next week”.
