Check out the recaps for SOL girls’ basketball teams in action Wednesday.

SOL Colonial Division
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 62, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 34
The Patriots opened their SOL season with an impressive win, turning a 15-10 lead after one quarter into a 35-18 advantage by halftime on their way to the win.
Jess Lockwood was on fire, connecting on four 3-pointers and scoring a game-high 24 points. Sophomore point guard Emily Moran added 13 points in a contest that saw the Patriots bury nine 3-pointers.
The game was only the second of the season for the Patriots, who showed no signs of rust after an 11-day layoff.
Mia Klein (13 points) and Gabby Tropea (10 points) led the Titans.
Key stretch: The Patriots received scoring from five different players in a 20-point second quarter that all but put the game out of reach. Three players contributed five points each and Cece Hayes connected on a 3.
Players of the game: Jess Lockwood (24 points, 6 rebounds), Haley Moran (13 points, 7 assists, 4 steals)
Central Bucks East coach Liz Potash: “We’ve known going into the year, and we’ve seen it all fall and summer – there’s a lot of talent, so we know there’s a lot of potential. We just need to see how the season unfolds. We have a real tough non-league schedule, but we’re just excited to be back playing.
“It’s beyond Haley (Moran), Jess (Lockwood) and Nat (Berndt). I think those are the three that people can look at and really key in on, and they are probably going to do the bulk of the scoring, but we have so many pieces around them that make it really exciting.”
–The game: “Emma Penecale started the game and first possession hits a 3. You’re looking at 3-0 start from a kid that maybe is or isn’t on someone’s scout. We get a steal off the press, and Jess (Lockwood) scores a layup, and it’s 5-0 and you’re 30 seconds in the game.”
–Moran sets tone: “The girls play at a high level. It’s a fun, sped-up game, and they have a pretty good basketball IQ. You throw Haley’s growth in the offseason into the mix with all of it – it’s a lot of fun. Haley and Jess play a ton together through AAU. They’re different years, but they play in the same organization. They see each other well. Haley had seven assists tonight on top of the 13 points. She’s got a great motor, and she is able to contribute on both ends of the court. It’s exciting.
“We can really create some tough defensive matchups for people because Haley is able to get into the lane so well, and then you have Jess and Nat and Syd. Emma hit a 3 tonight, Cece Hayes hit a 3 tonight. Haley gets them so wide open, and we have kids that can hit some shots, not to mention her own.
“Haley finished the first, second and third quarters – we had the ball with under 10 seconds, and she finished the quarter herself with tough finishes, tough drives around the basket.”
–Getting defensive: “Jules Tropea has been playing really well, and once again Natalie Berndt did her defensive magic, and (Tropea) could never really get into the game, and that’s so huge for South. She’s playing really well for them, and she wasn’t able to really get much going.”
Up next: Central Bucks East (2-0, 1-0 SOL) will face Audenreid Charter Friday (3:30 pm) in the opening round of the Jim Fenerty Make-A-Wish Showcase at Germantown Academy.
“It should be a good test – we’re looking forward to the games this weekend,” Potash said. “Audenreid will be a very different game than we’re used to seeing. It will be a good matchup for us to see where we stand.”
Central Bucks South (3-3, 0-1) will travel to North Penn on Tuesday.

Non-league
SOUDERTON 46, HATBORO-HORSHAM 38
Three players scored in double figures to lead the Indians to the come-from-behind non-league win.
Sophomore Julia Purvy led the second-half charge with 11 of her team-high 14 points after the half.
Emily Dick and Alaina Picard kept the Indians – who were battling foul woes – close in the first half, combining for 16 points.
Maddy Patel’s 14-point effort led the Hatters.
Key stretch: The Indians rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to outscore the Hatters 25-15 in the second half.
Key players: Julia Purvey (14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals), Emily Dick (12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals) & Alaina Picard (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals)
Souderton coach Lynn Carroll: “We were in some foul trouble in the first half. Madison (Bealer) had to go to the bench a couple minutes into the game, and Julia (Purvy) joined her a few minutes into the second quarter, so we had a rotation out there that doesn’t typically play together.
“We were down nine with a few minutes to go in the half and ended the quarter on a 7-0 run. Emily hit a jumper from the foul line, Alaina came up with a huge steal at half court and converted the layup and then she hit a 3 at the buzzer to pull us within two.
–The second half: “I thought our second half defense was really good. The girls played with a lot of intelligence and adapted to some things we kind of threw at them on the fly. Visceglia and Patel are really nice players for Hatboro. We did a much better job in the second half of forcing them into more difficult shots which was a complete group effort.”
–Props: “We got our usual scoring out of Julia and Emily, and Liv (Herron) and Alaina hit some shots. Defensively, Liv, Liz (Word) and Alaina had their best games of the season so far. Liz was very active on the boards and finished with eight rebounds. We had Liv on either Visceglia or Patel for most of the second half. Alaina played with a ton of passion and grit and finished with six rebounds, four steals and a ton of deflections. It was great win for us.”
Hatboro-Horsham assistant coach Nicole Miletto: “Tough loss tonight to a good Souderton team. This one got away from us in the second half. Souderton fought their way back, and we never really regained our composure.
“We’re still a young team and we’re growing, but we need to do the little things, and we’re still learning. Quick turnaround for us as we head to Abington, and we expect another aggressive good team to test us and see what we’re made of.”
–Props: “Props to junior Madison Duggan for her defensive effort. She was hustling for loose balls and following shots. Junior Mia Fisher did a nice job rebounding for us. Senior Maddy Patel had a team high 14 points and hit some big baskets for us in the third quarter, and sophomore Angelica Visceglia added 12.”
Up next: Souderton (4-1) will travel to Pennridge Friday, and Hatboro-Horsham (1-3) will travel to Abington for Thursday’s SOL opener.

Maura Jacob’s seven points led the Trojans. Katelyn Thomson added six points.
