NESHAMINY 54, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 15
The Redskins seized control of this one early, opening up an 18-1 lead after one quarter on their way to the decisive win. Hayley Kolk’s seven points led the ‘Skins in the quarter while Nicole Trespalacious added six and Mia Raivitch five.
Neshaminy coach John Gallagher:
–The game: “We were able to catch Council Rock North while missing a key starter, and then their leading scorer Koval took a spill during our game and missed a good amount of time. With such a young team and being shorthanded, we were able to take advantage on the scoreboard of CR North. The difference of a young team without many varsity minutes and a team filled with varsity experience tilted the scoreboard to our favor. As that group gains more experience nights such as tonight will be few and far between.”
–Key players: “Camryn Rodriguez led us on the defensive side of the floor by taking a charge, numerous deflections, a block while adding a couple of assists. Camryn is our only senior and a favorite of the underclassmen for her quick wit and ability to keep things loose. Freshman Molly Shortt and Brynn Klukososki each notched their first varsity points. Brynn is just returning from being sick, and we will need her on both ends of the floor as the season progresses.”
Up next: Neshaminy will face defending Virginia 5A state runner-up William Fleming in a non-league game Saturday at the She Got Game Tournament in Washington, D.C. Council Rock North will host Council Rock South Tuesday.

Big moment in the game – we were up 18-16, sophomore role player Liv Brodzinski hits a buzzer-beating 3 to put us up by five at halftime. Allowed us to feel a little better going into the locker room after missing seven foul shots in the first half.

WILLIAM TENNENT 63, CHELTENHAM 48
In a battle of the Panthers, it was William Tennent’s Panthers that had the upper hand, turning a 16-16 halftime tie into a convincing win with a 39-point second half
“Great team win tonight,” Tennent coach Laura Whitney said. “We have a great group of girls, and you can see how much fun they have playing together.
“The second half we played so unselfish. We had great ball movement, and they were looking for each other and making the extra pass for open shots.”
Paige Powell kept Cheltenham in it in the first half, scoring 14 of her game-high 22 points before halftime.
The visiting Panthers outscored the Lady Panthers 19-12 in the third quarter. Hannah Wong and Megan Volz both had six points in the quarter.
A 20-12 fourth quarter – sparked by eight points from Staub – put the game out of reach.
Key players: Halie Staub led a balanced Tennent attack with 16 points – 10 in the second half. Hannah Wang and Megan Volz both added 14 points, and Avery Kocur was the fourth player in double figures with 13.
Paige Powell’s 22 points led Cheltenham, and Maya Simmons added 13.
William Tennent coach Laura Whitney:
–On the game: “We came out a little flat to start the game and let Cheltenham be the aggressor, and they played with a ton of confidence. I thought we played too fast and the unforced turnovers killed us. We also had to navigate a little bit of foul trouble, which has been a theme the last few games.
“We regrouped after the first quarter and started to settle down and got back to playing our game. We were able to force some turnovers ourselves and got out in transition and battled back to tie the game up at halftime.
“I felt like once we took control of the game in the second half, our girls did such a great job of not letting up and staying aggressive. We got some big stops and rebounds and took much better care of the ball. Once again, we got great contributions from multiple girls.”
–Props: “Aubrey Lynch gave us great energy off the bench with her steals and rebounds and made a big corner shot in the second quarter that helped kickstart our comeback.
“Avery played a solid game on both ends of the floor and made some incredible passes.
“Carissa Malpezzi continues to do all the little things that don’t show up in the box score and plays with such toughness.
“After a slow start, Staub was practically unstoppable attacking the basket.
“Hannah Wong had her best game of the season so far. She gave us a big lift in the first quarter as we dealt with foul trouble. She rebounded the ball well and had some tough finishes around the basket.
“Big V (Megan Volz) was in foul trouble early but made up for it in the second half. She was able to get to her spots and finished plays.”

Three players finished in double figures for the Lions: Sydney Santora (14 points), Emma DiJoseph (13 points) and Maddie Broderick (10 points)
Springfield Twp coach Dave Giordano:
–On the game: “This was really a good girls’ high school game – back-and-forth for four quarters. Lower Moreland jumped out in the second quarter to a six-point lead at half, and then the second half was a dog fight with no team up by more than four points. Great scoring by Lower Moreland’s DiJoseph, Santora and Broderick.
–Props: “Ava kept us in the game with 26, but in addition, we had some critical baskets and foul shots in the fourth and just barely pulled it out. PENNRIDGE 44, FAITH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 42
The Lady Rams won a thriller when – trailing by one and time about to expire – freshman Megan Moylan had one of those moments every athlete dreams about, receiving a pass from teammate Samantha Murphy and burying a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Making the win even more exciting was the fact that the Lady Rams appeared destined to lose, trailing by seven points with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation.
While Moylan found herself in the hero’s role, it was Madison Lapp who set the stage for that game-winner, connecting on a pair of 3s and scoring nine of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter. All told, she had four 3-pointers.
“Super proud of the way our girls executed down the stretch, and they overcame the 8-point deficit and get a W,” Pennridge coach Jason Rapp said. “They continue to be great teammates and play with great effort.”
Key players: Madison Lapp had the hot hand for the Lady Rams, burying four 3-pointers and finishing with a game-high 18 points. Arianne Lauf added eight points.
Pennridge coach Jason Rapp:
–The ending: “Pennridge trailed by as many as eight at the 7:22 mark of the fourth quarter. Freshman Megan Moylan hit a three-pointer at the buzzer off of great feed from Sam Murphy to win the game.”
–Props: “Madison Lapp played an unbelievable second half with 14 points and hit some huge 3s to keep us close.
“But give credit to a well coached Faith Christian team they continued to claw their way back after we would take the lead.
