Non-league
UPPER DUBLIN 11, HAVERFORD 10
After battling the visiting Fords to a 5-5 halftime tie, the Cardinals twice opened up three-goal leads – 10-7 and 11-8 – but then withstood a late comeback attempt by the Fords to earn the impressive win.
“It is always a battle playing a team from the Central League,” UD coach Dee Cross said. “We were able to play Haverford even in the first half.
“After their fourth yellow card of the game, they had to play down one player for the last 15 minutes of the game. Our team is young this year on both ends of the field, with a new goalie, so it was a learning experience for them too.
“We were able to build a three-goal lead during that stretch but turned the ball over in key situations, and Haverford capitalized on that and got within one. We had possession on the final play and ran out the clock.”
Anna DiMartile led the Cardinals with a strong all-around outing, finishing with three goals, one assist, five draw controls and four caused turnovers. Kelly Senior also had three goals while Paige Dinkel and Julie Zlotnikoff both had two goals. Allie Gay had a goal and two assists, and Ava Brennan added two assists.
UD goalie Anna Biermaas was credited with 10 saves.
“Our midfielders, Anna DiMartile, Allie Gay and Paige Dinkel, were called on a lot to handle the ball and settle things down on offense and defense,” Cross said. “Anna Biermaas is brand new in goal and is improving with each game.”
Upper Dublin (1-1) will travel to Methacton for a non-league game Thursday.

Rock South goalie Kaya Mallon was credited with six interceptions to lead the defense.

LOWER MERION 17, WISSAHCKON 9
The visiting Trojans battled the Aces to a 6-6 halftime tie, but the second half belonged to the Aces.
“The teams traded goals throughout a hard fought first half with Emma Greenberg scoring on a loose ground ball with two seconds left,” Wissahickon coach Chuck Wurzbach said. “In the second half, Lower Merion leaned on their seniors Mia Falco (Furman commit) and Avery Bickell (Maryland commit) to build a lead that Wissahickon wasn’t able to overcome. They were both very talented and in the second half were able to break through our defense.
“Offensively, we made too many unforced errors in the second half, and when you play a team as well coached as Lower Merion, they are going to make you pay for those mistakes. The goalie play tonight (was strong) on both sides of the field by Hadley Rubin and Ava Fell who are both freshman.”
Emma Greenberg scored four goals to lead the Trojans’ attack. She also had six draw controls. Alexa McCabe contributed two goals, four draw controls and two caused turnovers, and Nora Ryan had two goals, one assist and four ground balls. Sophia Stehlik added one goal.
Ava Fell was credited with 10 saves in goal for the Trojans.
Falco’s seven-goal effort led the Aces, and Bickell had five goals as the duo combined for 12 of their team’s goals.
Hadley Rubin was credited with seven saves in goal for the Aces.
Wissahickon (1-1) will travel to Pomfret School for a non-league game Friday. The Trojans return to SOL action next Wednesday for their first home game of the season against New Hope-Solebury.
