Non-league
NORTH PENN 11, ABINGTON 5
Kayla Stressman and Stephanie Gibson both contributed a hat trick as well as one assist to lead a balanced North Penn attack. Stressman also led the Knights with five draw controls in a contest that was not as easy as the final score suggests.
“Today’s game was challenging with many cards issued to both teams,” NP coach Heather Mellow said. “Our defense came up big several times while playing down a player by creating turnovers and pushing the ball upfield.
“Our offense did a nice job of holding possession and waiting for the right opportunity to go to goal.”
In addition to Stressman and Gibson, Katie Harkins had two goals and one assist, and Lauren Blanch had two goals and three draw controls. Grace McGeehan added one goal.
Kiera Holt had eight saves in goal in the win.
“We are a fairly young team, anchored by a small senior class,” Mellow said. “As the underclassmen gain confidence, the level of our overall play continues to elevate – which is fun to watch develop.”
North Penn (2-2, 1-1 SOL) will travel to Upper Dublin on Monday for a non-league game, and Abington (4-2, 2-0) will be on the road at Pennsbury for a non-league game Monday.

UPPER DUBLIN 9, BOYERTOWN 8
Upper Dublin has had six games this season. Four have been nail biters and decided by one goal with Friday’s the most recent.
“I don’t really like close games, but we will take it if we win,” UD coach Dee Cross said with a laugh.
The Flying Cardinals are 3-1 in one-goal games, and from the outset, it was obvious this could be another close one as UD took a 5-4 lead into halftime.
“Boyertown scored at the buzzer to get within one,” Cross said. “It is always a tough, close game when we play Boyertown and today was no different.”
The visiting Bears scored with three minutes remaining in regulation to pull to within one.
“ They won the draw, and our defense was able to come up with the ball and get the ball out in transition,” Cross said. “We were able to hold the ball for the final minute and a half of play and it was a total team effort.
“This team is finding a way to work together on both ends of the field as a team. They share the ball. They work for double teams and they never give up.”
Paige Dinkel’s four-goal effort led the Flying Cardinals. Kelly Senior contributed two goals and an assist, Ella Lyon added a pair of goals, and Anna DiMartile contributed a goal and two assists.”
Cross praised the efforts of her players in the win.
“The defensive unit of Abby O’Meara, Maeve Hogan, Sophia Sirianni, Olivia Broome, with midfielders Allie Gay, Anna DiMartile, Paige Dinkel and Ava Shohen work together and back each other up,” the UD coach said. “They never stop communicating and have fun while doing it!
“Offensively, Kelly Senior, Julie Zlotnikoff, Ella Lyon and Lily Buckius trust each other and share the ball. They are doing everything we ask them to do. Whether they are on the field or sideline, this team is having fun and coming together.”
Upper Dublin (4-2, 2-0 SOL) will host North Penn in a non-league game on Monday.
