Non-league
METHACTON 10, NORTH PENN 5
The visiting Knights found themselves on the short end of an 8-3 score at halftime of Saturday’s non-league contest and never could recuperate.
“We started off slow, and Methacton went up 3-0 quickly in the first half,” NP coach Heather Mellow said. “We started to chip away at their lead and tied it up 3-3. Then Methacton took advantage of our mistakes and finished the half up 8-3.
“We played much stronger defense in the second half, but our offense couldn’t seem to find any rhythm, and the opportunities we did have, their keeper made some good saves. Lots of room for improvement as we move through the season.”
Emily Varilla and Riley O’Donnell each had a pair of goals to lead the Knights. Varilla also had five draw controls. Kaley Stressman added a goal and three draw controls, and Kerry O’Donnell contributed one assist, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Jordan Baily added one assist.
“Kiera Holt continues to play hard and was credited with eight saves,” Mellow said of her goalie.
