Non-league
PENNSBURY 11, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 8
Sparked by the five-goal effort of Olivia Graebner, the visiting Falcons notched a hard-fought non-league win. The Falcons led 4-2 at halftime, and the two teams spent the second half exchanging goals.
In addition to Graebner, Grace Holmes had two goals and one assist, and Mia Popovich added two goals. Rylie Borgman and Angelina Kenney both had one goal while Sasha Dobos had one assist.
For the Colonials, Meghan Wendler led the way with four goals while Maita Jayo had two goals and one assist. Bri Reynolds and Sophia Gartland each added one goal.
“I was happy with my players today,” PW coach Ellen Reilly said. “We were in the game and got close several times but either forced a shot or turned the ball over, giving Pennsbury the ball back.
“The draw hurt us at times but then we would play tough defense, get the ball back and then turn it over. It kills your momentum. They work so hard to get the ball back and deny their opponents. You cannot have those mental lapses. Playing well defensively were Katie Lukens, Anna McNichol, Kaylin Smyth, Kaiane Jayo, Bri Reynolds, Meghan Wendler and Maita Jayo.”
Addi Stein our goalie had 6 saves.
Pennsbury (12-3, 9-0 SOL) will host Pennridge on Monday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh (6-8, 5-5) will host Harriton in a non-league contest Friday.
Pennsbury 4-7 11
Plymouth Whitemarsh 2-6 8
