UPPER DUBLIN 1, WISSAHICKON 0
For the second straight game, Rebecca Watson scored the first goal of the match with an assist from Lexi Schneider, and the defense of the Flying Cardinals made that lead stand up against the Trojans in a battle for second place in the conference.
“There are a lot worse places we could be, other than second place, three points behind (Plymouth Whitemarsh),” Upper Dublin head coach John Topper said. “It’s a big, emotional win for us today, and we have to make sure we don’t look past anybody, with Springfield next, who has three wins in the conference already.”
Topper said center back Devon Magarity and Tovah Kaiser both had to play well to keep Wissahickon’s usually potent offense from doing damage.
Wissahickon head coach Shannon Creamer-Franke said her squad also got a standout performance from center back and senior captain Anna Chiodo-Ortiz, who was credited with nine defensive tackles and six air-balls won.
As Plymouth Whitemarsh had beaten both Wissahickon and Upper Dublin in the past week, the Trojans are now looking forward to their rematch with the Cardainsl later this season.
“Every player, starter or reserve, has shown dedication to team even in the face of great disappointment,” Franke said. “Today’s loss, coupled with the loss to PW earlier this season, has undoubtedly left its mark; however, I have no doubt that this team will persevere and rally.”
Senior goalkeeper Alissa Klammer made eight saves in earning her second consecutive shutout for the Cardinals (5-3, 5-1 SOL).
For the Trojans (5-2, 4-2 SOL), Keanna Haney made seven saves.
Upper Dublin 1-0 1
Wissahickon 0-0 0

The Colonials (6-0, 6-0 SOL) remained undefeated with their shutout victory over the Panthers (2-5-1, 2-3-1 SOL).
SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 3, UPPER MERION 1
The Vikings scored a goal 10 minutes into the game, and they took that 1-0 lead into halftime only to watch the Spartans explode for three second half goals.
“They took a corner, and the ball got lost in the sun,” coach Suzette Wolf said of Upper Merion’s early goal. “I don’t even know how it went in. We didn’t kick it, they didn’t kick it. It just went in.
“They came off for halftime after being a real slouch in the first half. We talked a little bit, figured things out, and they came back really strong. They wanted to win.”
Caroline Pape scored the equalizer early in the second half, using assists from Katelyn Gillinger and Cameron Calanan, and it was Emily Giampietro (Pape assist) scoring the go-ahead goal. Senior Alyssa Griet added an insurance goal, using a Gillinger assist.
Wolf lauded the defensive effort of Brianna Littlepage.
“She kept the team positive and moving the ball up the field the way I wanted it moved up, making sure that we weren’t rushing and playing haphazardly,” the Spartans’ coach said. “She made sure everyone was calm and moving the ball the way it should be moved and using the width of the field.
“Katelyn Gillinger was just putting a ton of pressure on them offensively. We’re not usually a come-from-behind team, but they decided they wanted this game to end.”
The Spartans upped their league record to 2-2-1 (3-2-1 overall) while the Vikings are 2-3 in the league (2-5 overall).
Upper Merion 1-0 1

QUAKERTOWN 2, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1
Quakertown’s Linzi Wolfe scored two goals within 32 seconds to lead the host Panthers to their first victory on the new artificial surface at renovated Alumni Field.
“With the old (grass) field that a lot of football also were played on, it was a very difficult field to play on,” Koch said. “Now it’s a beautiful (artificial) turf field, and the players were excited to play there and to play well in the first game there.”
Koch said he was particularly glad for three seniors—Wolfe, Jami Soriano and Erinne Finlayson—who played the most games on the old field and can finish their careers on this new surface.
“Beyond those three seniors, there were very few current players who had played meaningful varsity minutes before the season began,” Koch said. “They have taken a leadership role on the team, and I couldn’t ask for a team like this. Win or lose, I’ve haven’t been upset with the effort that the players bring, and that starts with those seniors.”
Wolfe scored unassisted at 19:42, then scored again at 20:20 with an assist from Katie Crouthamel.
For South, Courtney Taylor trimmed the deficit to one goal by scoring at 27:24.
Quakertown (2-4-1, 2-3-1 SOL) and South (2-3-2, 1-3-2 SOL) battled through a scoreless second half.
For the Titans, goalkeeper Sophia Boggs had eight saves, and for the Panthers, Finlayson had 11 saves.
Koch said the team also got strong midfielder performance from Soriano, and South got similarly good defense from Krysta Reading.
CB South 1-0 1
Quakertown 2-0 2
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0
Senior midfielder Carmen Telesco scored the only goal of the contest, as the host Bucks (7-1-1, 4-1-1 SOL) handed the Patriots (5-1-2, 3-1-2 SOL) their first loss of the season and leaped into second place behind Pennridge.
NORTH PENN 2, SOUDERTON 1 (OT)
Ally King assisted on the tying goal in the 62ndth minute and then scored the game-winner in the 85th minute to give the visiting Maidens an overtime victory.
Freshman Tori Dowd had opened the scoring for the Indians (3-4, 3-3 SOL) with a goal in the 58th minute on an assist from Ellie Andrade.
For North Penn (5-3, 3-3 SOL), Anna Pedicone tied the match, before King won it with an assist from Lauren Purcell.
Both goalkeepers kept the contest close, as North Penn senior Laura Leonard finished with two saves, and Souderton senior Jaclyn Parry with seven saves.
North Penn coach Jim Dehner said North Penn got a strong two-way performance from Steph Bresadola, and Tina Miller worked hard throughout the game, as she was a reason the Maidens were able to tie the game in regulation.
Dehner also credited Liz Volz, Jani Johnston, Riley Houlihan, Allison Williams and Alexis Henderson for their standout play.

For Pennridge coach Audrey Anderson, Wednesday afternoon's win versus the Lady Hatters was an opportunity to appreciate her team's toughness and durability because although the Hatters locked horns with the Rams in a genuinely respectable way, eventually her players would find a way in on their way to another win.
The win combined with a CB East loss put Pennridge firmly in the driver's seat, and although still early, gave the Lady Rams the inside track to Anderson's third consecutive Continental Conference title.
Motored by two goals from Jess Milligan and two assists from Erin Stevenson, Pennridge used a perfect balance of patience and explosiveness to overcome a Hatters’ squad that continues to earn the league's respect, if not league wins. Olivia Fernandez and Megan Hirschbuhl also scored for the visiting Rams, assisted by Dani Meenan and Savanna Harrison. The Hatters did generate a few opportunities, the best coming in the second half as Sarah Theurer struck a low shot that GK Kaitlyn Moran smothered without a rebound.
"They are a multi-dimensional team, so even if you neutralize one or two of their options, they remain relentless and eventually create opportunities,” Hatter's coach Ben Winderman explained. "They drive hard balls into the box off corners and restarts, and their players attack target areas with speed and fearlessness.
“We can learn a lot from their desire to score and their willingness to launch themselves collectively at victory. A few key plays we were butter knives and they were switch blades."
Winderman praised the play of Mikaela Malofiy, Sarah Thuerer, Hailey Freedman, and Maddie Slemmer.
“All of our players are digging in to contribute,” he said. “I am enjoying their progress and rooting hard for their success. We still have opportunities to play games together, and each time we collectively take the field, it is as a stronger, fitter, smarter, and hungrier team.”
It will be away at NP on Friday afternoon that the Lady Hatters will once again gather to compete while the Rams will complete their first cycle through the league with a match against Quakertown. In a division where each game is a potential classic, Pennridge is thus far flying first class.
