UPPER DUBLIN 3, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1 (25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 25-17)
The Flying Cardinals earned a tightly contested win in a key conference battle. Taylor Stek was all but unstoppable at the net, contributing 17 kills to go along with three aces. Setter Bryn Stek had 26 assists and two aces. Gabbi Johnson led the defense with 19 digs and one ace. Gianna Perri had 13 digs. Lauren Pyfer had five kills. Melanie Phifer added eight kills and four aces.
UPPER MERION 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-17)
The Vikings continued to dominate conference play, rolling to a sweep of the Ghosts. With the win, the Vikings upped their record to 5-0 in league play (6-0 overall). Eryn Brady had a career-high 10 kills while Carolyn Helenski (six kills) and Niki Carpenter (five kills) also contributed at the net. Carlye Odorisio had a career-high eight aces to go along with her 23 assists.
For the Ghosts (4-4, 2-3 SOL), setter Carley Cooper had 16 assists and one block. Leah Simmons had nine kills, two blocks, two digs and two aces, and Claire Gassman added six kills, three digs and two blocks. Jamie Kidd led the defense with 11 digs.
The Vikings will face Upper Dublin at home on Tuesday in a showdown for first place in the American Conference.
PENNRIDGE 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-18)
Kelly Bergen led the Lady Rams defensively with 16 digs to go along with three aces. Setter Meghan Keefe had 16 assists and three aces. Steph Judkins had 11 digs, nine aces and eight kills while Lauren Drugotch had seven kills, three blocks and two aces.
HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, NORRISTOWN 0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-12)
The Hatters rebounded from Monday’s disappointing loss to PW to sweep the Eagles on Wednesday. According to coach Kathy Tanner, every player made contributions in the team win.
Senior Sam Jones led the offense with 10 kills, junior Cassidy Quattro had seven kills, and senior Dymond Black had four kills. Senior Candyce Riley led the defense with six digs while sophomore Allison Laucella and Jones each had five digs. Riley also led the team with four aces, and freshman Katerina Yankanich and sophomore Holly Owen each had three aces. Riley dished out 13 assists, and junior Christine Ruffin added another six.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17)
The Patriots used a balanced attack in Wednesday’s win. Bridget Terrel had 10 digs and six kills while Erin Lane had 17 digs and six aces. Krista Helveston added six digs and seven kills, and Kelly Guillen had a team-high nine kills. Setter Lauren Helveston had 30 assists, four kills and six aces. Natalie Arm (four kills) and Kate Woolsey (three kills, two aces) also contributed to the win.
For the Panthers, Haley Sheehan (eight kills, two blocks, two aces) and Katelyn Spieker (six kills, three blocks) had big nights at the net. Setter Kerry Vanyo had 13 assists and three aces, and Jen Sterner added five assists, three kills and four blocks. Amanda Pursel had six kills and seven digs, and Lindsay Beck paced the defense with 13 digs.
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, SOUDERTON 1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21)
Taylor Danilowicz came up big for the Titans, delivering seven aces and six kills.
“She really stepped up her game tonight with leadership and desire,” coach Ulana Keer said. “Service receive (Larissa Keer, Briana Bannach, Taylor Danilowicz and Sarah Poli) were challenged tonight by Souderton’s servers.
“(Setter) Eryn Cleary had fun distributing nicely to everyone. Souderton’s libero (Savannah Bostwick) played well defending her court, which made us re-adjust our shots.
“Brenna Jackson, Meghan Dunn and Megan Manderson worked to block their outside attack.”
For the Indians, setter Cori Watson had 34 assists. Terry Wilcox had a big night at the net with 14 kills while Megan Freed (10 kills, eight digs) and Monica Miller (seven kills) also made important contributions. Melissa Gould added four kills and two blocks, and Stef Kluka had three kills and three blocks. Savannah Bostwick led the defense with 29 digs.
Souderton (2-5, 1-3 SOL) will travel to North Penn on Friday. The Titans will compete in the Quakertown Tournament on Saturday.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 2 (21-25, 25-18, 25-23, 12-25, 15-11)
The Bucks outlasted the Panthers in a marathon non-league match at Tennent. West was led by Sophia Videva, who had a huge night at the net with 16 kills and four blocks to go along with three aces. Julie Schweibenz had eight kills, three aces and 11 digs in a strong supporting effort. Setter Kayla King had 27 assists and also had an impressive night defensively with 24 digs as well as four kills and one ace. Ashley Juliano led a strong service game with seven aces as well as three kills and two blocks. Kelly McKinstry had a big night defensively with 22 digs to go along with one kill and one ace. Katie Hudson (two kills, three aces) and Sophie Caffrey (13 digs) also made important contributions.
More devastating than the loss for the Panthers was the fact that Jaime Bonner – who had 17 kills in just over three sets – was injured in the fourth set and left the match on crutches. Her injury comes on the heels of losing fellow senior captain Amber Wood for the season. Bonner and Wood are the team’s top two hitters.
When Bonner left the court, the Panthers trailed two sets to one but led 6-1 in the fourth set. They rallied and won the set 25-12 before dropping the fifth game without Bonner.
“I am really proud of our girls’ effort, intensity and heart,” coach Brian Bassler said. “They never give up. This has to be the most adversity thrown at one team ever.
“If someone has a voodoo doll, please put it away!
“I give our girls a lot of credit. We had an extremely limited attack, and we pulled out the fourth game. It shows great character that players new to the varsity scene showed such heart and composure.”
CHELTENHAM 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-20)

Setter Meghan Keefe added 21 assists, 11 digs and two aces. Kelly Bergen led the defense with 20 digs. Lauren Drugotch had six kills and two blocks. Ana Vitantonio led the Rams’ service game with six aces.
For the Indians, Savannah Bostwick led the defense with 16 digs. Terry Wilcox had nine kills while Megan Freed had five kills and five digs. Setter Cori Watson had 16 assists and two aces. Melissa Gould and Monica Miller both had three kills.
QUAKERTOWN 3, GEORGE SCHOOL 0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-15)
Setters Jen Sterner (10 assists, six digs, two kills, two aces) and Kerry Vanyo (eight assists, three kills, two aces) both had big nights. Haley Sheehan (eight kills) and Katelyn Spieker (seven kills) led the Panthers at the net.
