HATBORO-HORSHAM 9, QUAKERTOWN 5
In a battle of two teams that have combined for 318 runs so far this season, it was the Hatters – behind the productive bat of Maddie Yeager – handing the Lady Panthers their first conference loss of the season. Thursday’s win avenged a 16-12 loss in the initial meeting between the two squads.
If the Hatters needed a boost, Yeager gave it to them with a three-run home run that highlighted a four-run first inning and erased an early 1-0 Panther lead.
“We jumped out on them up at their field too, but we didn’t play good in the field,” coach Joe DiFilippo said. “This win was huge.
“You have to beat the good teams, and Quakertown is a very good team.”
Yeager led the Hatters with a 2-for-4 effort that included five RBIs and a run scored. It’s the kind of production DiFilippo has come to expect from Yeager, who is batting .453 with six doubles, a triple and home run. Her on-base percentage is .473.
Also coming up big for the Hatters were their two, three and four hitters – Brynn Griffith (2-for-4, 3 runs), Kylie Flagler (2-for-4, 3 runs) and Brittany Hubler (2-for-4, triple, 2 RBIs).
“They’ve been doing that all year,” DiFilippo said.
Quakertown was led by Tara Baglivo’s 4-for-5 effort that included four runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Ryan Kemmerling was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Lauren Beal only had one hit, but it was a solo home run.
“They’re a great hitting team – keeping them to four or five runs isn’t easy,” DiFilippo said. “I’ll be honest – I don’t even like pitching to Lauren Beal.
“Every ball she hits is hard. She’s just unbelievable.”
Mikayla Fedele earned the win, upping her record to 7-0 on the season. The sophomore hurler has thrown 43 innings and boasts an earned run average of 1.79. In Thursday’s complete game win, she allowed 13 hits and four earned runs.
Hatboro-Horsham (11-3, 6-2 SOL) will be on the road at Wissahickon on Monday, and Quakertown (12-3, 9-1) will travel to Cheltenham on Monday.

The Golden Bears led 3-1 after two innings and then put some distance between themselves and their visitors with a three-run fourth inning to go on top 6-1. The Bears benefitted on a pair of Panther miscues on bunts and also received a sacrifice fly from Jocelyn Baumeister. Maddie Mull had an RBI single in the frame.
In the bottom of the sixth, Baumeister’s triple set up the Bears’ final run of the game.
Baumeister finished the day 2-for-2 with a triple, and Kayla Sawick and Chloe Tice were both 2-for-4.
Erin Kuchler and Vita Blair-Kraybill both were 2-for-3 to lead the Panthers.
Baumeister earned the win, allowing seven hits while striking out three and walking one.

Kayla Yeager was in command in the circle, scattering three hits while fanning six and walking four in the complete game win. She also was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
Kamryn Kropinski was 1-for-3 with two runs out of the leadoff spot, and Byrne was 1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Allison Beausoleil was 1-for-1 with a double. The Colonials collected nine hits.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1, PENNRIDGE 0
In a season that has featured one high-scoring game after another, the Patriots won a pair of 1-0 games this week. Audrey Labouliere delivered the game-winner, a solo blast in the fourth inning.
That was the only run Tara Harper would need as she went on to earn the complete game win, allowing six hits while striking out one and walking none.
“Tara hadn’t pitched for a while,” East coach Karl Knapp said. “She kept everything in play.
“There were a couple of real long balls in center field, but Audrey (Labouliere) can run down almost anything, and she got those. Really, Tara got infield grounders and popups. She did a nice job, and she had some great defensive plays off the mound.
“She got a fly ball out – went from the mound all the way to the fence between the catcher and first baseman and caught the ball. She had a couple of good shots back to the mound that she picked up and made plays on. She had an all-around really good game defensively and pitching. She fields her position really well.”
Labouliere’s home run was the only run the Patriots managed off Pennridge starter Meghan Bauer, who allowed four hits in five solid innings while striking out five and walking none.
“Bauer kept us off balance,” Knapp said. “She throws that off-speed changeup stuff
“Audrey finally connected and got a home run off of her, but for the first couple of innings, we couldn’t do anything with her. She did a good job.”
Kailyn Bell threw two scoreless innings to close out the game
“It was another pitcher’s duel,” Knapp said. “Both teams had people on, but it was good defense on both parts and good pitching.
“There were some pretty spectacular plays on both parts to keep it scoreless for a while.”
Labouliere had herself a day at plate for the Patriots, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a home run, RBI and run scored.
Central Bucks East (9-7, 6-3 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Monday, and Pennridge (5-8, 2-6) is scheduled to host Abington in a non-league game on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
“We’re kind of in a must-win mode,” Knapp said. “I looked at the (district) power rankings today, and we’re sitting 20 of 20, so there’s no room for error.”

NORTH PENN 6, WILLIAM TENNENT 0
Bri Battavio and Ellia Namey stole the spotlight for the Knights. While Battavio tossed a gem in the circle, it was Namey’s grand slam that put the game out of reach, turning a 1-0 lead into a 5-0 advantage with one swing.
Namey finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the Knights’ six-hit attack.
Battavio allowed just one hit in the complete game shutout, fanning nine and walking two.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 4, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0
Taylor Marineli hit home run number nine of a dazzling senior season – this one a two-run shot in the sixth inning, and the senior power hitter also had a sacrifice fly, driving in three of South’s four runs. Through 15 games this season, Marinelli has nine home runs and 31 RBIs.
“She’s our leader,” coach Kevin Rosini said. “How she goes we go. So far so good.”
While Marinelli was doing her thing at the plate, sophomore Kylie Kenney was tossing a complete game five-hit shutout, striking out six.
“Kylie pitched good again tonight,” Rosini said. “She walked a few here and there, but when she needed a big out, she got it.
“Our defense was outstanding tonight. Everybody made a good play tonight, it seemed.”
In the first inning, the Titans got on the scoreboard on Maddi Bieber’s RBI single, and it was 2-0 after Marinelli’s sacrifice fly. That score stood until the bottom of the sixth. Bieber was hit by a pitch to open the inning, and Marinelli laid into the first pitch she saw, driving it over the center field fence.”
“By her own admission, she didn’t get all of it,” Rosini said. “When she first hit it, I thought the center fielder was going to camp under it at the fence and catch it, and it just kept going. I bet if you asked her – she’d say she didn’t get all of it, but her mechanics are so good.”
That 4-0 lead stood the rest of the way.
“West played a really good game tonight,” Rosini said. “They didn’t have errors, they made us work for everything.
“They’re a good team. They just didn’t get a clutch hit when they needed it. Kylie got the outs when she needed it and pitched another shutout.”
Central Bucks South (9-0, 12-3 SOL) will be on the road at William Tennent on Monday for a game at Klinger Middle School at 6 p.m. Central Bucks West (4-9, 2-7) will travel to Central Bucks East on Monday.

POTTSGROVE 4, SOUDERTON 3
Things looked promising for the Indians when they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Falcons plated a single run in the second and added two more in the third to knot the score. That 3-3 score stood until the visiting Falcons scored a run in the sixth.
Jess Lepore led the Indians at the plate with a 2-for-4 game that included a single, double and run scored. Alex Scheeler was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the first inning. Jen Klepfer was 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored. Alyssa McCormick and Naila Neely were both 1-for-3.
