Maura Solomon came up with a huge bases-clearing double to get us back into the game after falling behind 5–0. Bea Lyons then provided some cushion with a clutch three-RBI double. SPRING-FORD 4, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1
Central Bucks West suffered their first loss of the young season on the road at Spring-Ford. For the Bucks, it was the bottom of the second inning that proved to be difference in the game. In that inning Spring-Ford plated all four of their runs on three walks and three bases-on-balls against West pitcher Kendall Kornuszko.
Outside of that inning, Kornuszko showed excellent command of her pitches and kept the Rams off of the board for the rest of the game. On the day, CB West out hit Spring-Ford but failed to come through with a big hit when West needed it most. West left the bases loaded without scoring a run in the first, fourth and fifth innings, and stranded eleven runners in all during the game.
The only run scored by the Bucks on the afternoon came off the bat of leadoff hitter Jill Boyle who connected on a third inning first pitch fastball that easily cleared the fence in dead center field. It was Boyle’s first home run of her career and a memorable one for the Messiah University bound senior outfielder.
By the numbers: Central Bucks West: Marley Swain (3-for-4), Jill Boyle (1-for-2, HR, 1RBI, 1R)
Kendall Kornuszko (6 IP, 6H, 4R, 3ER, 4BB, 2K)
Central Bucks West coach Mike Daher:
“Marley Swain was again highly productive at the plate going 3-for-3 and collecting her second three-hit game in the first two games of the season. Three other West players would chip in hits on the day, they were Hailey Worthington with a double to center field in the top of the fourth inning, along with Kat James and Addie McMackin who both had line drive singles on the day.
“On the day, junior pitcher Kornuszko faced twenty-eight Spring-Ford batters, giving up six hits, walking three and striking out two batters in a strong effort in the circle. The defensive gem of the day came in the bottom of the fourth inning when right fielder Taylor Sheplock made an outstanding running catch with her back to the infield to take an extra base hit away from the Spring-Ford leadoff hitter.”
Up next: Central Bucks West will travel to North Penn for Thursday’s SOL opener.

The Colonials plated three runs in the first inning, capitalizing on a pair of walks and two hit batters as well as a Methacton miscue. The rest of the game belonged to the Warriors, who scored 11 unanswered runs.
By the numbers: PW: Joslyn Perez (2-for-4, 1R), Zoey Robinson (1-for-1, 3B)
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Mike Perez:
“After yesterday’s emotionally draining, hard-fought victory at Upper Dublin, I knew today’s non-league game vs Methacton would be tough.
“I was happy we were able to come out and score three runs in the first inning – showing great discipline at the plate – but we really fell flat after that. Sadie Fitch settled in and did a great job keeping us off balance the whole game.
“We struggled to make solid contact all game long and hits were hard to come by. We need to put this game behind us and change our focus to tomorrow’s league matchup vs Quakertown.”
–Props: “Shoutout to Zoey Robinson for getting on base four times (3 BB and a triple), Joslyn Perez for getting two base hits, and Lori Flannery for getting on base three times (reached on error, 1B, and HBP) and playing a phenomenal center field.”
