COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 8, NESHAMINY 2
Rock North led by just a 3-1 score heading into the sixth inning when they plated five runs to all but put the game out of reach.
“Today’s game was significantly more exciting than the final score may indicate,” Rock North coach Susan Yee said. “Neshaminy gave us all we could handle until the final out, we were just lucky enough to get some
timely hits strung together at the right moments to go on a couple runs.”
Freshman Mia Kiskurno notched the complete game win in her second varsity start while Kayla Ripper, Olivia Schlindwein and Chelsea Sailer led the Indians’ 12-hit attack with two hits each.
By the numbers: Council Rock North: Kayla Ripper (2-for-4, 3B, 1RBI, 2R), Olivia Schlindwein (2-for-5, 1RBI), Chelsea Seiler (2-for-3, 2B, 2RBI, 1R),
Mia Kiskurno (W) (7.0 IP, 5H, 2R, 1ER, 0BB, 9K)
Neshaminy: Morgan Leonhauser (1-for-3, 2B, 1R)
Key inning: Top of fourth: Trailing 1-0, the Indians scored three runs. With one out, Payton Helsman singled and was replaced by courtesy runner Sophia Mills, who moved up to second on a groundout, and with two outs, Mills scored on a single to center by Kiskurno. Ripper lined an RBI triple to center and scored on a single by Olivia Schlindwein. (3-1)
Top of sixth: After back-to-back walks to Kiskurno and Ripper to lead off the inning, Seiler lined a two-run double to center. Sierra Klein and Zoe Hardy followed with back-to-back RBI doubles, and with two outs, Katie Wilkoski hit an RBI single. (8-1)
Council Rock North coach Susan Yee: “Neshaminy is way better than their record indicates, and they are absolutely going to go on runs, I’m sure of it. Those girls
over there are great kids. We love competing with them, they represent the Neshaminy community so well.
“Once again, I can’t overstate how great a job our girls did playing good team ball. They are really taking good, confident offensive approaches, and that starts with the fact that every player knows there is no individual that has to do it all in one swing. The girls are going to step up throughout the game from all parts of the lineup in order to get the job done. It puts a lot of pressure on opposing teams to not have a ‘weak’ part of the lineup, and a lot of comfort on the individuals from our team stepping to the plate knowing no matter what happens, the girl behind her is ready to pick her up. If we can clean up the defensive hiccups and continue to put up box scores with nine different players making it into the hit column, we are going to keep making positive strides toward reaching our team goals.”
–Props: “Mia Kiskurno deserves a lot of credit today. She truly had ice in her veins no matter what the situation. When we had defensive miscues, it didn’t faze her at all. She really threw a fantastic game. Her composure was commendable for a player of any age but even more impressive considering she is a freshman in only her second varsity start of her career.”
Up next: Council Rock North (5-1, 2-0 SOL) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh in a non-league game Friday, and Neshaminy (1-4, 0-2) will host Pennsbury on Tuesday.

Julia Scannapieco (W)(5.0 IP 2H, 0R, 1BB, 8K)
Key inning: Bottom of second: Leading 3-0, the Golden Hawks put the game away with six runs in a second inning that featured singles by Scannapieco (RBI), Pesapane, Delise (RBI), Shannon Williams and Salamon (RBI). The Hawks also benefitted from a pair of Tiger miscues. (9-0)
Council Rock South coach Scott Molle:
–Scannapieco delivers: “Julia Scannapieco delivered an outstanding performance on the mound today, pitching a gem and earning eight strikeouts while allowing only two hits. I must commend Julia for her exceptional reliability; whenever we call upon her to start a game, she consistently rises to the occasion. Her selfless attitude and lack of complaints make her an exemplary team player, exceling in both the circle and at first base. Julia embodies the spirit of teamwork in every aspect of her game.”
–Hit brigade: “Our offense was impressive today, producing 13 hits. Freshman Jenna Pesapane led the team with three hits, going 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jenna’s tireless work ethic and thorough preparation on game day are truly commendable. Her conduct on and off the field, with both teammates and coaches, is refreshing to witness. Sophia Salamon continued to excel behind the plate and with her bat, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and demonstrating steady improvement each day. Kelly Delise maintained her momentum with another two-hit game, adding an RBI and runs scored.

We successfully incorporated 16 players into the game today, with three freshmen achieving their first varsity hits. Victoria Herzog went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Margot McLean went 1-for-1 with two runs scored, and Sam Graff went 1-for-1 in her inaugural varsity plate appearance. As we prepare to face a formidable Egan team tomorrow, it is essential that we maintain our focus to sustain our high level of play.”

SOUDERTON 5, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 4
Trailing by one, the visiting Indians plated a pair of runs in to the top of the seventh to take the lead and then held on to earn a win that was anything but easy.
Bella Kreyenhagen did not walk a batter and struck out 11 in the complete game win.
Kathryn Jones led the Indians’ 10-hit attack with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. Ava Detweiler added a pair of hits.
For the Bucks, Katherine James, Laila Murry and Taylor Hooven each had two hits.
By the numbers: Souderton: Kathryn Jones (4-for-4, 2B, 3B, 1RBI, 1R), Ava Detwiler (2-for-4, 2B, 1RBI, 1R), Kendal Nelson (1-for-3, 2B, 2RBI)
Bella Kreyenhagen (W) (7.0 IP, 8H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 11)
Central Bucks West: Katherine James (2-for-4, 2B, 1R), Laila Murray (2-for-3, 1R), Taylor Hooven (2-for-3, 2B, 2RBI, 1R)
Key innings: Top of sixth: With the score deadlocked 1-1, Ava Detwiler led off with a single, and Josi Tolentino drew a walk. Both runners advanced on a sac bunt by Emma Messmer. Skyler Byrnes was walked intentionally to load the bases. Kendal Nelson followed and hit a two-run double to center field. (3-1)
Bottom of sixth: With one out, Glemser tripled to right field and scored on the throw. Murray singled, and Hoover ripped a two-run home run to right field. (4-3)
Top of seventh: Kiera Fadden smashed a solo home run to center to lead of the inning. With one out, Jones tripled to right field and scored when Detwiler lined a double to right field. (5-4)
Bottom of the seventh: With one out, Jill Boyle was safe on an error but was thrown out attempting to steal by Tolentino. James followed with a double to left, but Kreyenhagen came up with her 11th strikeout for the final out of the game. (5-4)
Souderton coach Tyler Bui: “I was glad that we were able to start the game by getting on the board. CB West made it hard for us to get any kind of momentum. They matched us run for run and even took the lead in the bottom of the sixth with some really big hits.”
–Seventh inning heroics: “We came into the last inning down a run, and I knew it was going to be difficult with Ana Glemser throwing the ball so well. Kiera Fadden led off the inning with a home run to tie the game. She is our sparkplug and allows us to do many things when she gets on base, but she also has the ability to hit the ball out of the park at any time. Her hit was as big as it gets. Ava Detwiler came up with another big hit in consecutive games to give us the lead in the top of the seventh.
“CB West is so scrappy, and they just kept fighting. They put a batter on in the bottom of the seventh, but our catcher, Josi Tolentino threw a seed to throw the runner out at second. CB West managed to get another runner on second base with two outs, which put a lot of pressure on us. I walked out to the mound to speak with our pitcher, Bella Kreyenhagen, and our infield to ensure we had a plan and were in the proper position for the next batter. I asked Bella what pitches she felt most comfortable throwing, and she delivered by striking out the last batter to finish the game.”
–Props: “We came off a big win Tuesday against Pennridge with our ace, Skyler Byrnes, and Bella Kreyenhagen followed it up with another huge performance for us. Bella threw her second complete game in as many starts against a very good CB West team. She had all of her pitches working today. Bella moved the ball around and hit her spots to accumulate 11 strikeouts. I can’t say enough about Bella. She is the type of player who just suits up every game and does whatever is asked of her. We knew this was going to be a battle, and she just relished in the moment. It is such a luxury to have her in our pitching rotation.
“Kathryn Jones helped lead the charge once again for us at the plate. She broke her wrist in the offseason and wasn’t able to swing a bat until the first day of tryouts. Kathryn worked hard at getting back and is hitting her stride right now. Kathryn is very much appreciated as a player. She is a great hitter and is willing to play any position for us. I am extremely happy for her because I know it was a long offseason waiting for her wrist to heal.”
Central Bucks West coach Mike Daher: “Ana Glemser had another solid outing in the circle on the Bucks home field. Ana threw all seven innings, giving up four earned runs, while allowing nine hits and striking out six batters on the day. She also contributed a triple at the plate and scored one of the four Bucks runs.
“The big hitter for us was Taylor Hooven who had a home run and a double on the day, while driving in two runs on her homer in the sixth inning. Katherine James went 2-for-4 on the day and scored a run. Laila Murray also chipped in two hits on the day in a going two for three at the plate.”
Up next: Souderton (3-1, 2-0 SOL) will host Norristown for a non-league game Friday, and Central Bucks West (1-2, 0-2) will host Harry S Truman on Friday.

The Patriots won a wild one with three runs in the top of the eighth inning with back-to-back home runs – the first a two-run blast by Hailey Helmstetter and the second a solo shot by Elena Bhatt. The Rams didn’t go down quietly and pushed a pair of runs across with the tying run on base.

Helmstetter and Maggie Funston each added two hits. The Patriots had six extra-base hits to just one for the Rams.
Averi Dockery’s four-hit game led the Rams, who also received two hits from Jadyn Gulbinski and two from Payton Keyser.

Central Bucks East coach Karl Knapp: “What a battle. We had three lead changes and three home runs. It was a great effort from the girls.”

QUAKERTOWN 2, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1
It had been a tough start for the defending district runner-up Panthers, who got in the win column for the first time with a win over the visiting Hatters.
The Panthers were sparked by the gutsy effort in the circle by senior Ava Zebert, who did not allow an earned run in the complete game win.
“She’s all heart,” Quakertown coach Rich Scott said of his senior, a natural middle infielder who agreed to pitch with the graduation of all-state pitcher Abbey Wagner. “She gives it everything she can. It was nice to see her win today.”
In the bottom of the sixth, the Panthers broke a 1-1 tie when Kira Jefferson delivered a two-out RBI single.
Kennedy Conn pitched well enough to win most days, allowing only one earned run.
By the numbers: Quakertown: Ava Eatherton (2-for-3), Ellie Hilton (1-for-3, 2B, RBI), Kira Jefferson (1-for-4, RBI)
Ava Zebert (W) (7.0 IP, 6H, 1R, 0ER, 3BB, 2K)
Hatboro-Horsham: Maya Ravi (2-for-3)
Key innings: Bottom of first: With two outs, Leah Schwalm drew a walk and was replaced by courtesy runner Ava Jones, who scored when Ellie Hilton doubled to center. (1-0)
Top of second: Bella Karpovich singled to center to lead off the inning and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Molly Harrington. Adriana DeLeon was safe on an error, and Karpovich scored from third on a groundout by Sydney Cassel. (1-1)
Bottom of the sixth: With one out, Kayla Scheibenhofer walked, moved up to second on a sacrifice by Zebert and scored on Kira Jefferson’s single to left field. (2-1)
Top of the seventh: Zebert retired the side in order.
Quakertown coach Rich Scott: “This is a big win for our girls. They’ve been struggling. We lost some major pieces to your puzzle to graduation – two all-state players. We have one still (Leah Schwalm), but they’re hard to replace. When you lose an all-state pitcher (Abbey Wagner), that’s a tough loss.”
“Ava (Zebert) had a little more velocity today, a little more speed, which helped a lot, and we played an overall good game today. We had one error which gave them a run, but otherwise, we played well.
“We hit the ball well. Their center fielder (Cara Neeld) made some great plays out there. We hit the ball to the fence a couple of times, and she made three or four great catches.”
–Props: “Ava Eatherton in left field played another awesome game. She’s catching almost everything out there.
“We had a rundown in an inning, and we got an out, which was big. We had some great execution today.”

With the Cardinals clinging to a 1-0 lead, Madison Reilly stepped to the plate in the fourth inning and with one swing of her bat gave UD a 5-0 lead, smashing a grand slam to left field.
For the Cardinals, it was their fifth win of the young season without a loss.

Abington: Sammi Clewell (2-for-3, RBI.
Key inning: Top of fourth: Madden Reilly ripped a grand slam home run to left field.
Upper Dublin coach Heather Boyer:
–On the road again: “We have been road warriors for the entire season; our varsity and JV teams are sharing one field for practice because the renovations on our varsity field are not yet completed ~ it is definitely going to be worth the wait, but in the short term, we have now played both scrimmages and all five games on the road. That grind can be challenging at times, but it certainly is not fazing the girls at all. They come every day ready to play and today was another well executed game.
–Props: “Kyla Garrison and Madden Reilly have a really strong pitcher/catcher relationship right now, and that has been a big reason for success, but additionally, we have a lot of players stepping up offensively to contribute by executing quality at bats and timely hitting. We also have players working to improve upon their defensive positions every day, and that work ethic, coupled with good team chemistry, has helped this group get off to a really strong start.”

I told them after the game that we had to quickly turn our attention away from this victory as we’re right back at it Friday for a tough non-league road game vs red-hot Council Rock North.”
–Props: “Freshman shortstop Zoey Robinson lead the offensive attack going 3-for-3, with three runs scored and two RBIs.
