COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 8, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1
The Golden Hawks continued their magical start to the season, notching their sixth win in as many games on Wednesday. Lexi Waring notched the complete game win in the circle, Wednesday’s win coming on the heels of the junior pitcher’s complete game shutout over Central Bucks West 24 hours earlier.
“Lexi Waring was money today on the mound, scattering five hits and registering five Ks on the day,” Rock South coach Scott Molle said. “Lexi was in the circle for back-to-back games, and she showed no signs of being tired. The last two days she has only allowed one earned run against two very good teams in CB South and CB West. We know we can count on Lexi to take the circle and perform to a high level.”
The Golden Hawks manufactured a run in the first inning. Helen Woloshyn legged out a bunt single to lead off the inning, stole second and advanced to third on an error. She scored on a sacrifice fly from Gabby Bloom.
The Titans evened the score in the top of the third when Hannah Tracy, who walked, scored on Ella Wheeler’s single to left.
In the fourth inning, Bloom – who was coming off a seven-RBI game 24 hours earlier – lined a one-out double to center, and Grace Stepp drew a walk. One out later, Avery Tumolo lined a double to center field, plating a pair of runs that put Rock South on top 3-1.
South added five runs in the fifth to go on top 8-1, a score that stood until the final out.
Woloshyn (2-for-4, RBI, SB, R), Bloom (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 R), and Julia Scannapieco (2-for-4) all contributed multi-hit games.
Molle also credited the play of Stepp behind home plate.
“Grace Stepp had an incredible pick-off play at first base today and has been such a huge part of our success,” the Golden Hawks’ coach said. “She is one of our leaders and takes control when we are on defense, her instinct behind the plate is one of the best I’ve ever seen. She also contributed with two walks today that turned into two runs scored for us. “
All told, the Golden Hawks collected eight hits.
“Our team approached the game today being very disciplined with their at-bats,” Molle said. “We had so many quality at-bats and some of that led to five walks today that proved to be key in getting girls in scoring position. These girls dug deep once again and continue to play as a team with a team-first mentality. I’m super proud of what we have been able to do so far.”
The Rock South coach gave credit to his assistant.
“I have to mention my assistant coach – Andy Waskie – who calls pitches each game and has a top tier game plan for us each and every game,” Molle said. “His understanding of the game and knowledge has been invaluable to us.”
For the Titans, Maura Fleming led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with a double.
Council Rock South (6-0, 4-0 SOL) will host Central Bucks East on Friday, and Central Bucks South (5-5, 4-3) will host Archbishop Wood in a non-league game on Saturday at noon.

HARRY S TRUMAN 13, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 8
The visiting Tigers used a six-run third inning to take control of Wednesday’s crossover contest.
“It was a true team effort,” Truman coach Jim McKeon said. “We had solid base running and timely hits from everyone. We needed the bounce back win after the loss to Souderton yesterday.”
The Tigers showed no ill effects from their shutout loss to the Indians 24 hours earlier as they came out swinging. Marley Montgomery took the second pitch of the game and smashed a solo home run to center field. One out later, Emily Davis singled and stole second. She scored when Ashley Bottrel lined a two-out single to right field, and the Tigers led 2-0.
The Patriots plated an unearned run in the bottom of the inning, but the Tigers answered with two runs in the top of the second to go on top 4-1.
The six-run third was jumpstarted when Jordyn Loy hit a one-out solo blast to center field. The Tigers also benefitted from a pair of walks, an East miscue as well as singles by Kaitlyn Erhard and Davis (2 RBIs) to go on top 10-1. The Patriots never threatened as the Tigers led wire to wire.
Davis led the Tigers with a 3-for-3 day at the plate that included three RBIs, four stolen bases and two runs scored. Montgomery was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot, and Bottrel was 2-for-5 with one RBI.
Devin Becker and Montgomery combined for the win in the circle.
For the Patriots, Sara Camposano was 3-for-4 with a run scored, and Olivia Owtscharuk was 3-for-3 with a run scored. Hailey Helmstetter was 2-for-5 with a home run, RBI and run scored. She led off the bottom of the third with a solo home run. Sarah Zmuda was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs, and Anna Devine was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Harry S Truman (4-5, 2-4 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Monday, and Central Bucks East (2-5, 0-5) will travel to Council Rock South on Friday.
