SOUDERTON 14, NESHAMINY 4 (5 innings)
The Indians received production up and down their lineup, pounding out 15 hits – nine for extra bases – on their way to the crossover win. The win snapped the Redskins’ five-game winning streak and came to an early end in the bottom of the fifth when sophomore Ava Detwiler singled home the 14th run to cap Souderton’s six-run inning.
“In the fifth inning, Neshaminy had called a timeout, and I said to Ava, ‘Listen, there’s no pressure at all, but one run (ends it),’” Souderton coach Carol Atkinson said. “She’s like, ‘Okay, coach. I’m going to hit it in play,’ and she smacked it up the middle. Her hit ended the game.”
Detwiler made a successful debut in the circle in Saturday’s12-2 win over Central Bucks East in six innings. She not only notched the win with five shutout innings, she also was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs.
“Ava did great on Saturday, and her bat did really good, so I said, ‘You know what, let’s keep her bat going,’” Atkinson said. “She’s a good little player.
“The girls hit really well today. They settled in the box, they adjusted to the pitchers Neshaminy threw. It was a big win for us.”
Detwiler was one of six Souderton players with two hits. She also had an RBI triple in the Indians’ six-run second inning.
Camryn Nadolski was 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with a double and home run. Her two-run homer in the third put the Indians on top 8-1. Kendall Clemmer was 2-for-4, and her two-run double ignited the six-run fifth inning.
Kathryn Jones was 2-for-3 with two RBI doubles – one in the second and another in the fifth. Kiera McFadden had a pair of doubles and scored a run, and Lily Ponce was also 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Makayla Mihelcic was 1-for-1 with two walks and a home run. Her three-run home run ignited the six-run seventh and came after back-to-back singles by Madison Byrwa and Ponce.
The Redskins got on the scoreboard with a run in the third when Zahmira Coppola-Miller hit an RBI single to make it a 6-1 game. They trimmed the Indians’ lead to 8-4 with a three-run fourth that began with a Morgan Leonhauser double and included singles by Kendall McCaffery (RBI) and Jillian Rickhards as well as a costly Indian miscue.
McKenna Schroding earned the win, allowing seven hits and four runs (two earned) in four innings. Skyler Byrnes threw a 1-2-3 fifth.
For Atkinson, using two pitchers has become something of a routine.
“Usually, it’s just – let’s see how the first few innings go and go from there,” the Souderton coach said. “Once they start putting a couple balls in play, we know it’s time to switch it up, no matter who’s pitching, so it works out well.”
Souderton (8-4, 5-4 SOL) will travel to Council Rock North in a crossover game Tuesday, and Neshaminy (5-3, 4-3) will travel to Harry S Truman on Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 12, BENSALEM 1 (6 innings)
The Titans brought an early end to Monday’s crossover game, scoring four runs in the top of the sixth and then holding off the Owls in the bottom of the inning for their second mercy rule win in as many games. Sophomore Lane McLaughlin earned the complete game win in the circle.
“It was another really good day for the team,” South coach Matt McLaughlin said. “Multiple home runs, and many so close to being home runs that just didn’t get enough, and I mean came up literally half a foot short.
“Shoutout to Hollie Schaub for another home run and Riley Theis for her first one of the year.”
Both Schaub and Theis hit their home runs in the top of the sixth. Schaub’s two-run shot came on the heels of a triple by Ella Wheeler, and Theis hit her round tripper to put the visiting Titans on top 12-1 after Steph Bendziowicz singled.
Earlier, the Titans took a 1-0 lead in the first when Hannah Tracy, who hit a one-out single, scored on a double by Wheeler.
A seven-run third began with Maura Fleming and Tracy collecting back-to-back singles. With runners on second and third, Wheeler hit a two-run double to left field, and she scored on a single by Schaub. Bendziowicz singled, and Theis hit a sacrifice fly to center to put the Titans on top 5-0. Keira Im’s RBI double to center was followed by a single from Kate Muntz that plated another run. A walk, Fleming’s second single of the inning and a fielder’s choice RBI by Tracy put the Titans on top 8-0.
The Owls plated a run in the bottom of the third, and the Titans closed out the game with a four-run sixth.
Wheeler led the Titans with a 3-for-4 effort that included two doubles and a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored. Also contributing multi-hit games were Fleming (2-for-4, R), Tracy (2-for-4, RBI, 2R), Schaub (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBIs, 2R), Theis (2-for-4, HR, 2B, 3 RBIs, R) and Im (2-for-2, 2B, RBI, R).
“Ella Wheeler stayed hot with another beast performance with multiple hits and multiple RBIs,” McLaughlin said.
In the circle, McLaughlin scattered five hits and allowed one run in the complete game win, striking out 10 and walking two.
“Lane Mclaughlin, a sophomore, pitching in her very first varsity game ever was on from the get-go, striking out 10 over six innings,” McLaughlin said. “It was her first complete game of the season.
“Every single player – whether in the field or on the bench – 100 percent contributed in this win, and the culture that we are building continues to show. The girls are playing loose and having lots of fun.
“We are very much looking forward to the back of this schedule hoping to make the playoffs – Harry Truman on Wednesday night and then another big game on Friday against Pennsbury.”
Central Bucks South (7-5, 5-3 SOL) will host Harry S Truman in a crossover game Wednesday, and Bensalem (2-8, 2-6) will be on the road at North Penn for a crossover game Wednesday.

The Bucks collected 13 hits while Sienna Lawson and Ana Glemser combined for the win in the circle in Monday’s crossover road game.
In the top of the first, the Bucks collected just one hit – a single by Glemser – but benefitted a walk and two Truman miscues to plate three runs.
In the second, Avery Rubenstein and Ava Mattes hit back-to-back one-out singles, and with two outs, Glemser singled to plate a pair. Chloe Dryden’s RBI double gave the Bucks a 6-0 lead, and Dryden scored on Laila Murray’s ground single to left field.
The Bucks added two more runs in the third to go on top 9-0 before the Tigers plated a run on an RBI single by Ashley Bottrel.
In the top of the sixth, Dryden led off the frame with a single, and with one out, Molly Gibson ripped a two-run home run to center field for the 11-1 lead.

Lawson started and allowed one hit in three shutout innings, striking out four and walking none. Glemser also threw three innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out four and walking two.
Jordyn Loy’s 2-for-2 day at the plate with a double led the Tigers.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
Alyssa Tooley was in complete command in the circle.
The Hatters’ senior ace allowed three hits while striking out 11 and walking two. The Hatters opened up a 3-0 lead early and led the rest of the way for the crossover win in a tightly contested battle.
The girls came to today’s game with a lot of positive energy,” Hatters’ coach Jen Tooley said. “The energy they had spilled over to their swings. They were squaring up some good hits. Not all found a hole. The Panthers left fielder (Sammi Wood) had some highlight reel catches.
“Alyssa Tooley and Katie LaPlaunt both threw a nice game.”
The Hatters put a run on the board in the top of the first when Tooley delivered an RBI single. They upped that lead to 3-0 in the top of the third.
With one out, Tooley lined a double to left field, and she scored when Maddie Karpovich singled to center. Adriana DeLeon’s RBI single gave the Hatters their three-goal edge.
Tennent got one of those back in the bottom of the third. Jamie Green drew a one-out walk, Morgan Kochner followed with a single, and Wood delivered an RBI single. That run marked the end of the scoring for both squads.
Tooley also had a big day at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Maddie Karpovich was 2-for-4 with one RBI, and Kennedy Conn was 2-for-3.
Hatboro-Horsham (7-3, 7-2 SOL) will host Upper Moreland in Wednesday’s crossover game, and William Tennent (6-4, 4-4) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh for a crossover game Wednesday.

QUAKERTOWN 8, UPPER MORELAND 2
The Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first and led wire to wire, but the Golden Bears didn’t make things easy.
“They have a good team,” Quakertown coach Rich Scott said. “Their pitcher (Delaney Stout) is a freshman and pitching well.
“We did not play our best but were still able to get the win.”
In the top of the first, the Panthers loaded the bases with none out, thanks to a walk, hit batter and single by Leah Schwalm. They scored a pair when Cadence Lewis lined a double to left field. The Panthers benefitted from a pair of UM miscues to add two more runs for their early 4-0 lead.
In the second inning, Schwalm tripled and scored on a groundout, and the Panthers led 5-0.
Makenzie Leo’s RBI single in the third inning put the Golden Bears on the scoreboard, but the Panthers answered with two in the top of the fourth. Ava Beal led off the inning with a single and scored when Schwalm roped a two-run blast to center field for a 7-1 Panther lead.
Beal’s RBI single in the top of the fifth made it an 8-1 game.
In the bottom of the seventh, UM’s Claire Walton doubled to center with one out, and she scored on Leo’s RBI single, but that’s where the Golden Bears’ rally ended.
“We knew going in today Quakertown would be tough to beat and would need to play a near perfect game and that didn’t happen today,” UM coach Melanie Martino said. “We had far too many mistakes in the field. We did, however, have a good game on offense today putting the ball in play. We have three more games this week so hoping to continue to build on what we are doing right.
“In the circle for us, Delaney pitched a great game today with 14 Ks, passing her first 100 strikeouts already as a freshman during the game today.”
Schwalm had a monster day at the plate for the Panthers, finishing 4-for-4 with a triple and home run, two RBIs and three runs scored.
“Leah is such a great hitter and is just crushing the ball,” Scott said of his slugger.
Abbey Wagner notched the complete game win, allowing nine hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out 13 and walking none.
For the Golden Bears, Kelly Bates was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Leo was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Quakertown (11-0, 9-0 SOL) will host Cheltenham in Wednesday’s crossover game, and Upper Moreland (9-2, 7-2) will travel to Hatboro-Horsham for a crossover game Wednesday.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 11, SPRINGFIELD TWP 0 (5 innings)
Madison Moran tossed a gem in the circle.
The PW hurler allowed just three hits in five shutout innings while striking out nine and walking none.
“Madison Moran was phenomenal in the circle today,” PW coach Mike Perez said. “Having her and Rian Reed as a 1-2 punch has been such a luxury for us this year. Most teams would be lucky to have either of them, so to be able to use them both has been a nice way to keep them both fresh all season long.”
The Colonials plated an unearned run in the first and then seized control of the game with a five-run second. Rian Reed led off the inning with a single, and Kalina Childers followed with an RBI double. Marissa Perez’s one-out single plated Childers. Caelin Kosvitch followed with a single, and Sam Skivo’s two-out single plated Perez for a 5-0 lead that grew to 6-0 after a Spartan miscue.
Kosvitch’s solo home run in the top of the third upped the lead to 7-0. They added three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to bring an early end to the game.
Kosvitch was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Anna Powel was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run, and Childers was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
“Offensively, it was a great team effort, with eight different girls getting a hit and eight different girls scoring a run,” Perez said. “Leading the offensive charge was Caelin Kosvitch (HR, 3R), Kalina Childers (2H, 2R, 2 RBI) and Anna Powel (2H). It’s really nice when all the hard work we’ve put in comes out in a game.”
For the Spartans, Ashley Schulz was 2-for-2.
Plymouth Whitemarsh (9-2, 8-1 SOL) will host William Tennent in Wednesday’s crossover game, and Springfield Twp (3-7, 2-7) will host Abington in a crossover game Wednesday.

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 8, WISSAHICKON 1
A pair of freshmen – Dagny Mobley and Mabel Klossner – combined for 14 strikeouts and allowed just three hits and zero earned runs in standout efforts in the circle in Monday’s crossover win.
“Defense and pitching led the way for the Lady Lions in a tightly fought battle,” NH-S coach Chris Marchok said. “(Our pitchers) kept us close until we scrapped together seven runs in the final two innings for the victory.”
The Lady Lions also threw some defense at the Trojans.
“(Right fielder) Devon Maguire combined with (shortstop) Emily Wilson to throw out a runner at the plate in the fifth inning with the score tied 1-1,” Marchok said. “Kaylee Harris had a stellar defensive day in left field, and behind the plate late in the game, Jackie Herbert threw out a base stealer to calm a threat.”
The two teams exchanged runs in the fifth with Rachel Sim, who singled, scoring for the Lions. The Trojans got that run back when Siena Miller delivered an RBI double.
In the top of the sixth, Harris was safe on an error and Klossner smashed a two-run home run to center field. The Lady Lions also benefitted from a second error to add two more runs, opening up a 5-1 lead.
New Hope staged a two-out rally and three more runs in the top of the seventh. Harris got things started with a line drive double to right field, and she scored when Klossner doubled to left field. Mobley followed with an RBI double and scored when Izzy Elizondo singled for the 8-1 final.
“Baserunning also helped us fight through a very tough battle as freshmen Rachel Sim and Ali Rickard made key baserunning plays that helped spark the Lady Lions,” Marchok said.
The Lions’ coach has spoken about the poise and growth of his young team and how it is learning to win.
“Today was a terrific example,” Marchok said. “In the first inning, Dagny was struggling to get used to throwing off the turf at Wissahickon. (She walked the) first three batters and works out of the inning. Left fielder Kaylee Harris made a terrific play in there along with two strikeouts.
“In the fifth, after we had finally gone ahead 1-0, we open the inning with back-to-back errors, next ball is hit to right and the play is made at the plate. The kids are learning to be able to turn to the next play, look forward and see themselves wanting and making the next play. They have each other’s back and support each other.”
Mobley (4-for-4, 2B, RBI R) and Klossner (3-for-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBIs, 4) combined for seven of their team’s 10 hits.
In the circle, Mobley started and threw four shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out six and walking three. Klossner closed it out, allowing two hits and one run (unearned) in three innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Kaitlyn Scalley’s 2-for-3 effort at the plate led the Trojans.
New Hope-Solebury (7-3, 6-2 SOL) will host Upper Dublin in a crossover game Wednesday. This will be New Hope’s second annual day to “Support Survivors and Raise Awareness” of sexual abuse. Both teams will be wearing teal and will receive a handout. Wissahickon (4-9, 2-7) will travel to Lower Moreland for a crossover game Wednesday.
