The Flying Cardinals erupted for 15 hits and put runs on the board in every inning of Monday’s conference win over the visiting Lady Panthers.
There were offensive heroes galore for the Cardinals. Sarah Sharp was 3-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored, and Korynn Bischoff was 3-for-5 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored. Adding two hits each were Meghan Muth (2-for-4, 3B, RBI, run), Brianna Parker (2-for-4, RBI, run) and Ellie Kelcey (2-for-2, RBI, 4 runs).
The Cardinals put a pair of runs on the board in the first and added four more in the second to go on top 6-1. Both teams scored three in the third, and the Cards took a 12-4 lead into the sixth when the Lady Panthers tacked on four more runs.
Morgan Gianelle was the offensive catalyst for the Lady Panthers, The senior slugger was a perfect 4-for-4 with a solo home run in the third and two RBIs.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 7, WILLIAM TENNENT 6
Trailing by three heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Hawks needed a heroic comeback to eke out the win, and they got just that, winning for the sixth time in seven games.
“It was a quiet game – they kept us on our heels,” Rock South coach Frank Marino said. “They were scrappy, and it was a tight game, but the girls fought. That’s the most important piece. They didn’t quit, and it kind of turned out in our favor.”
Olivia Zoldi and Devon Bradley got the ball rolling with back-to-back singles to lead off the inning seventh. Mackenzie Marino was hit by a pitch to load the bases with none out.
Danielle Walters followed and also was hit by a pitch, this one pushing a run across. A two-run single by Shorty Thompson knotted the score. An intentional walk to Alex Hopko loaded the bases, and with two outs and the bases still loaded, the game appeared headed for extra innings. Ally Kirschner had other ideas, delivering a clutch single that plated the game winner.
“It was a slow start,” Marino said. “I was very familiar with their starting pitcher, who throws a lot of off-speed and changeups.
“I tried to tell my girls, and even though we talked about it and prepped for it, she had us off-balance most of the game.”
The Golden Hawks did not have a base runner until the fourth inning when they plated an unearned run. They trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Alex Hopko’s two-run home run made it a one-run game.
Tennent plated a pair of runs in the top of the seventh, setting the stage for the Golden Hawks’ comeback.
Kirschner was the lone Golden Hawk with more than one hit, finishing 2-for-4 with one RBI. Walters – who earned the win in the circle – had a productive play at the plate out of the leadoff spot.
“She’s been doing a bang-up job at the plate,” Marino said. “She had four plate appearances and had no hits, but she got on base three times and scored twice, certainly the definition of a leadoff hitter making things happen.
“She did a nice job (in the circle). They had a couple of hits, but there were a couple of miscues in the inning they scored four runs, two of them were on errors.”
For the Panthers, senior Cassidy Hubmaster was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Junior Devon Fithian had a pair of RBIs, and sophomore Hannah Reimel drove in one run. Freshman Megan Curtis hit her first home run of the season, driving in two runs.

“We scored two in the first inning and then we died for four innings,” coach Frank McSherry said. “That’s been our MO – we score early and then we shut down.”
For the Falcons, Carly Parsons was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, and Arden Rabiger was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.
Parsons accounted for all three of her team’s runs in the seventh with a three-run blast. In the sixth inning, Casey Glynn delivered a two-run home run.

UPPER MORELAND 9, GWYNEDD MERCY ACADEMY 2
Gianna Fiorenza’s first varsity home run was a memorable one – the UM junior blasted a grand slam to straightaway center field, highlighting a five run sixth inning that all but put Monday’s non-league game out of reach.
“It didn’t get more than 15-20 feet off the ground – it was a line drive, and she got it all,” coach Scott Ludlow said of Fiorenza’s home run. “At that point, it was a 4-2 game. It was still kind of tight, and that broke it open and gave us a little breathing room.”
Fiorenza’s slam was set up by singles from Jackie Martino and Jocie Baumeister as well as a walk.
Baumeister was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Brianna Hughes was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Allison Ludlow was 2-for-4 with a double.
Jenna Sadowski earned the win, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
“We took a couple of tough (losses) last week with PW, and then Hatboro-Horsham put a beating on us on Thursday – we did not play well, and they played very well,” Ludlow said. “We had four games scheduled this week, so it was a nice start to the week. Hopefully, we can follow up with a couple more good ones.”
The Golden Bears were without starting catcher Chloe Tice.
“She had a banged up knee,” Ludlow said. “She’s really a team leader.”
The Golden Bears are the eighth seed in the latest District One 5A power rankings. Sixteen teams will earn tournament berths.
Upper Moreland (5-3, 3-3 SOL) will travel to Cheltenham on Tuesday.

HARRY S TRUMAN 12, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 3
The Tigers scored early and often in Monday’s non-league win over the visiting Ragdolls, pounding out 12 hits. A four-run third gave the Tigers a 7-1 lead, and they never looked back.
“The bats definitely came alive today,” coach Lisamarie Belmonte said. “I think only one person in our lineup didn’t have a hit today. It was a big day.”
Vanessa Tancini led the hit parade with a 3-for-4 showing that included a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
“Vanessa Tancini came out of her shell today,” Belmonte said. “It started with her warm-up. She had a killer warm-up in center field, and she just took it right into the game. She came up big today with runners in scoring position.”
Kailea Heston was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored, and Hayley Carter was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Tori Baskin and Mara McKeon both finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Tigers are 25th in the latest District One 6A power rankings with 20 teams earning district berths.
“The second half of the season regardless where you stand in the (conference) standings is very important – it’s kind of like playing in the playoffs every time because you’re basically fighting for a spot to continue your season,” Belmonte said.
Harry S Truman (6-5, 4-2 SOL) will travel to Council Rock South on Tuesday.
