Check out the recaps for SOL softball teams in action Wednesday.
SOL Colonial Division
PENNRIDGE 4, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2
The Rams put three runs on the board in the top of the first, and that was enough for Grace Helbling, who notched the complete game win. The Pennridge senior allowed just two hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out 11 and walking four in a strong outing.
Helbling was also a catalyst in the Rams’ three-run first when – after the first two batters struck out – she doubled to center field and scored on a double by Reagan Bauman. Averi Dockery made it a 3-0 game with one swing of her bat, lining a two-run home run to center field.
“Grace Helbling had a great game all around today,” Pennridge coach Wendy Iadonisi said. “She showed great control in the circle and kept her composure with a few miscues in the field. She also started a two-out rally in the first inning with a double which was followed up with a double from Reagan Bauman and a home run from Averi Dockery. I was hoping for a few more runs in the next couple innings, but we weren’t able to connect our hits together.”
The Patriots scored a run in the bottom of the inning when Elise Waddington, who singled, eventually scored on a wild pitch. They added an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 3-2 game, but the Rams – also capitalizing on an error – got that run back in the top of the fifth.
Ashleigh Kenworthy’s 4-for-4 effort at the plate led the Rams’ eight-hit attack.
“Ashleigh Kenworthy was a perfect 4 for 4 today at the plate and is starting to come into her own, which is perfect timing for our last two league games and looking into the playoffs,” Iadonisi said.
Pennridge (11-7, 8-6 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West on Monday, and Central Bucks East (5-13, 4-10) will be on the road at Souderton for a 7:30 p.m. contest at Stover Park.

QUAKERTOWN 12, SPRINGFIELD TWP 0 (6 innings)
The Panthers broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the fifth. It marked the beginning of a 12-0 tear over the next four innings in the abbreviated contest.
Abby Wagner tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking none to notch the win in the circle.
Ava Beal led the Panthers’ hit parade with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate that included a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Maya Hellyer was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Leah Schwalm was also 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Mary Wilkinson (2-for-3, 2R) and Cadence Lewis (2-for-4, 1R) also had multi-hit games. Katie Muller contributed a double.
In the top of the third, Lewis led off the inning with a single, and Muller drew a walk. Beal’s bunt single loaded the bases. It looked as though the Spartans might escape without giving up a run, but Hellyer delivered a two-out single that plated a pair, and the Panthers scored two more when Schwalm singled to go on top 4-0..
That was more than enough for Wagner, but the Panthers added eight more before the game was halted after six innings.
Quakertown (17-0, 13-0 SOL) will travel to Wissahickon Thursday, and Springfield Twp (8-8, 6-7) will host Upper Moreland on Thursday.
