BASEBALL
Elizabethtown senior Kristopher Davis (Central Bucks East) was named the Landmark Conference’s Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete. The CB East graduate led the Landmark in wins (seven), innings pitched (64.0), strikeouts (55), strikeouts per game (7.73), strikeout-to-walk ratio (9.17) and walks allowed per nine innings (0.84). His strikeout-to-walk ratio was the eighth highest in all of Division III. Davis was named Landmark Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-Landmark and D3baseball.com, third team All-Mid-Atlantic region for his efforts. The senior right hander ended 2015 with a 7-1 record over nine starts and a 2.53 earned run average. A two-sport athlete, he also made starts in 34 of his 50 career men’s soccer appearances, and he served as a team captain for each squad in 2014-15. Off the field, Davis maintains a strong 3.75 grade point average while majoring in biology. He earned a spot on either the Middle Atlantic Conference or Landmark Academic Honor Roll in each eligible semester, and he is also a member of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. Davis has additionally participated in several community service and volunteer events while at Elizabethtown. He has been a Relay for Life team captain from 2013-15, and he is involved in the institution’s Student-Athlete Mentor (SAM) and Called to Lead Programs. Davis also volunteered at the Hershey Half Marathon in support of Leukemia and Lymphoma research as well as the Penn State Hershey Cystic Fibrosis Center. He was recently accepted to Thomas Jefferson University for the fall 2015 semester where he will pursue his doctorate in physical therapy. The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
Kutztown senior Brandon Martinez (North Penn) was named to the Capital One Academic All-American second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This marks Martinez’s second Academic All-America honor of his career after earning first team honors a year ago. He is KU baseball’s only Academic All-American in program history and now has two honors to his name. Among all sports, Martinez earned Kutztown’s 24th Academic All-America honor. He is one of five Golden Bears to earn multiple awards. A business administration major with a 3.84 GPA, Martinez has racked up numerous awards on and off the field during his four years in the Maroon and Gold. He is a two-time Academic All-District 2 first team honoree, KU baseball’s second two-time honoree and first two-time First Teamer. He was also named to the 2014 PSAC Spring Top 10 last year and is on the ballot again this year. Martinez is a two-time All-Atlantic Region and two-time All-PSAC East First team centerfielder. He is a seven-time Dean’s List honoree, three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient. Along with helping lead Kutztown to a conference championship last year as a junior, he broke the 31-year-old school record for stolen bases in a season with 35. He closes his career as a .341 hitter with 169 career hits, 111 runs scored, 31 doubles, six triples, one home run and 60 RBIs. He ranks second in school history with 70 career stolen bases and fourth with 14 sacrifice hits. Martinez was named the 2015 KU Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in April, as well as a copper medalist of the 2015 Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award, one of the top awards any Kutztown student can receive. His grade point average was the fifth highest of the second team honorees and of the 10 All-District 2 selections, seven of them were deemed Academic All-Americans.
Cairn University junior Joey Nieves-Markee (Bensalem) received honorable mention NCAA All-American recognition. The award came after he was named to the NCCAA All-East Region Team as an outfielder. Nieves-Markee ended his best year with a .427 batting average, 53 hits, 34 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.

Chestnut Hill junior Zachary Crim (Hatboro-Horsham) and Brandon DiBona (William Tennent) were named to the 2015 Spring Athletics Academic Honor Roll.

Aurora University senior Garret Rosiek (Wissahickon) was named to the 2015 Midwest Lacrosse Conference All-Academic Team. The award requires each student-athlete to maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average for the 2014-15 academic year.

Messiah College freshman Emily Doron (Pennsbury) was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Sportsmanship Team. The MAC Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who exemplify great character and demonstrate the act of sportsmanship both on and off the field. The student-athletes were selected by the head coaches from their respective teams. They represent their team, institution and the conference with high integrity and exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches and opponents.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
IUP’s Austin Cooper (Upper Merion) was named the 2015 PSAC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year. Cooper became the program’s first ever PSAC Freshman of the Year after a spring
where he took home the individual title in the 1500 meters at the conference championship meet. The first-year runner finished with a time of 3:55.45 and became the first 1500 meter PSAC champion in IUP men’s outdoor history. The standout mid-distance runner also finished second in the 800 meters at the PSAC Championships, finishing just 0.18 shy of another conference title with a time of 1:53.05. Cooper ran a season-best time of 1:52.31 in the 800, which was an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time. This is the second award of the postseason for Cooper, who was also an All-Atlantic Region selection by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association in the 800 and 1500 last month. He was also an all-region selection in the 800 after the winter’s indoor season.
St. Joseph’s University senior Matthew McGarvey (Central Bucks West) was named the recipient of the Raymond Vasquez Award as the student-athlete who most represents the Jesuit ideals of being a “person for others.” McGarvey ran the first leg of the 4x800m relay that claimed St. Joe’s second outdoor 4×8 gold medal at the IC4A level in program history. McGarvey also earned the silver and bronze medals in the indoor and outdoor 800m, respectively, at A-10s this year.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Bloomsburg senior Kate Dodds (Upper Dublin) was named the 2015 PSAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. The Upper Dublin graduate is the first ever Bloomsburg track and field athlete, male or female, to win a major PSAC outdoor yearly award. Dodds’ crowning achievement of the outdoor season was taking All-
American honors in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division II national championships last month with her third place finish by registering a school record time of 34:52.26. She also qualified for nationals in the 5,000 meters and placed 15th with a mark of 17:16.77. She earned All-Atlantic Region accolades from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in the 5K and 10K events after winning the PSAC outdoor championship in the 5K with her time of 17:35.09, taking victory by over eight seconds. That title gave her three conference championships for the year as she won the PSAC indoor championship meet in both the 3K and 5K in February, earning the award of Most Outstanding Athlete. Dodds also shined in the classroom as she received Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Two honors. She also racked up All-American honors in cross country last fall.
